We have two dogs, a 10lb Maltese and a 20lb Havanese. They seemed to enjoy their stay and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. They are competitively priced. The facility was clean and had easy access. The dogs were not taken out for runs and no pictures or videos posted therefore a four rating. read more

Took the dawg there for a long weekend. When I picked him up he was filthy and unhappy. Probably abused by bigger dogs. No thanks.

I cannot speak to other's experiences on Yelp with this company. I've only used them to board my two dogs. They are very kind and gentle with my dogs and seem to like them. The dogs always come back happy and clean. I think their services for kenneling are wonderful. They have long kennels so they can run but also allow for running in the yard. The place is kept clean and there isn't a smell. I make sure my dogs are current on their flu shots and Bordetella. read more

My husband got his English Retriever, Angel, four years ago from Bennington Hills and back in January we saw on the website that they offer a stud fee for breeding. We thought choosing them would be perfect, if only we knew how much of a living hell it was going to be. We paid for a total of two tries on breeding our dog. The first time we tried back in February it didn't work out. Now for the second in October when our dog became in heat we immediately contacted Linda from Bennington Hills and done everything that she suggested by using her vet instead of ours. Bennington's vet nor Linda would work with us on the days that it would be perfect to breed our dog. The vet didn't work on the two days that would be perfect to breed our dog so we found another vet and Linda didn't like that. Linda kept making up an excuse on why she couldn't bring the stud to the vet but we both ended up on agreeing that we would pick up the stud. When we got to Bennington the stud, Gordon, that we paid extra for was being pretty aggressive and Linda told us that we should take her other stud, Homer, instead. Homer was a very sweet dog but he was missing one eye and he smelt so bad. When we had his sperm checked at the vet he was infertile and wasn't a breeding dog. We contacted Linda and she said she'd meet us halfway for us to take Gordon, the original dog we paid for. We did the switch and brought Gordon to the vet. When his sperm was checked we were faced with the bad news of that dog being infertile as well. Back in February for our first try when our dog was in the hands of Bennington she was breeding with both these dogs before my guesses are they were infertile back then. Lastly we called Linda one last time and told her about Gordon. She said she'd let us take one more of her studs but that one was missing as eye as well. We told her that we weren't leaving until our dog, Angel, was bred. Linda didn't like our response and said she was going to call the police if we didn't have Gordon back until 5:00 pm. Luckily the vet knew another woman who breeds English Retrievers and everything worked out with the other breeder. As far as Bennington we called up their vet on getting records of our dog being there back in February to see if the records show that these studs were infertile back then. The receptionist at the vet said they can't give us that information because Bennington said Angel, which is our dog, was theirs!!! Even though it has our name on the bill. Please if you want to breed your English Retriever DO NOT go to Bennington Hills instead go to Cowboys & Angels in Lansing. They are much easier to work with, honest, better reviews, and much more affordable. It is sad to say that Linda and Chris over at Bennington Hills obviously do not care about the well being of their dogs. read more

Whatever you do, do NOT buy one of their puppies. Four years ago we bought a precious English from Bennington Hills and now he's dead, he's gone and I have lost my baby. When Finn was about four months old he started to get a phobia of the outdoors. We hired an excellent trainer and regardless of all our efforts we couldn't help him, the phobia just got worse. Because we love our dogs as if they are our flesh and blood, we compensated and we all adjusted. Now, at just four years old, Finn has died from two large and extremely fast growing cancerous tumors in his abdomen. Our vet said, even though cancer is a serious issue in the Golden Retrievers, he should never had gotten cancer sooo young and she definitely felt that it's bad breeding. Read the other posts on Bennington Hills and please take them seriously. Bennington is nothing more than a puppy mill, passing poorly bred Golden's off as being "the best" and then on top of that charging an outrageous cost for a poorly bred precious puppy. I'm heartbroken and I'm just saying, don't go there and do a lot of research before buying anywhere. read more

I use Bennington Hills Kennels for boarding and grooming. It is a wonderful place and my Scottish Terrier is always happy to run back to her kennel when we arrive! The owner and her daughter have always been friendly and professional. My boys always seem happy and healthy upon pick up. The grooming is very neat. What's unfortunate, Kristine, is the inhumane way you treated my family's dogs. They are part of our family and you left them to soak in their own urine all weekend. It might shock you how far some compassion or a sincere apology would have gone. I am heartbroken at what you did to them, and the lack of responsibility you took. To some, animals are more than a profit. And on that note, I'm glad I didn't pay for an "exit bath", I would have had no idea what you did you our dogs. Please see my original review below: We dropped our two dogs off for care at Bennington Hills on the afternoon of June 12. We picked them up on the afternoon of June 17. When they were delivered to us, the smelled horrifically, and not just the smell a dog has after having been boarded for a week. Upon further inspection, I discovered that they were both COMPLETELY SOAKED in urine and also had bits of feces in their fur. Our Basset Hound is brown, so it was more difficult to notice, but her fur was crusted over and reeked of urine. Our Golden Retriever is lighter in color, and you could see the yellow staining on her fur. More alarming was the pink, raw skin beneath as well as that fact that her fur was still wet in some places. I went back into the Bennington Hills office after loading my dogs into the car and spoke with Christine (the owner's daughter). I voiced my concerns and she smirked, pointing to the sign behind her and said, "That's why you're supposed to pay for an exit bath." She denied that the dogs could be in the state I described. I begged her to come and look at the dogs, and she refused stating, "It's not my fault what your dogs sit in." I later spoke via telephone with Linda, the kennel's owner. She was aware of the situation, but completely denied any responsibility for the state of my animals. She insisted that her kennels are clean, so there was no way her kennel could be the cause of the skin breakdown my pets were suffering from. Later in the conversation, she offered that "We recently cleaned, the only thing I can think is that maybe one of the chemicals burned her." Linda offered to bathe my dogs, as though I didn't immediately bathe them upon returning home to prevent further burning of their skin from the urine. Linda refused to accept responsibility for the condition of my dogs, but was unable to offer a different scenario that would explain the state in which they were returned to our family. read more

We dropped off our dogs December 31, 2014 and picked them up January 2, 2015, while they were there they were only given one scoop of dog food the entire time. Our dogs eat 2 scoops per day so they should have been given 4 scoops of food. We got home and our dogs were starving and dehydrated. We called them right away when we got home to explain our frustration and all they said "they weren't eating there food". Our dogs have NEVER not eaten their food. They would eat their entire bag if we allowed them. We have never had this issue before with any other dog kennel or dog sitter. They then mentioned how busy they were right now at the kennel, which is a red flag. My husband and I are pissed off that they neglected our dogs and even more pissed at ourselves for trusting them to care for our 2 dogs. We will never be going back there and we will be telling our friends the same thing. There was no responsibility taken by them and they said dogs act weird when in a new place and that is normal behavior. Frankly this is a piss poor response to someone's concern of their dogs. This place should not be in the business for caring for people's pets, they do a terrible job. read more

I purchased an English cream golden retriever from Bennington hills in August of 2014. He is the son of Dream and Casper. He was diagnosed with FCP in both elbows in April 2015 and had bilateral arthroscopic surgery. I informed Linda Rademacher, sent her the X-rays and a copy of the surgical report. There is evidence that this is a hereditary condition. The orthopedic surgeon suggested that this pairing of Dream and Casper should not be breed again. I see Linda did not heed the orthopedist surgeons suggestion as Dream and Casper will have a litter due July 1st. I know Linda has been in business for over 30 years but I am concerned that she would want to risk passing on FCP in her blood line. read more

We put down a deposit - $570 which is outrageous for a deposit - and were promised a puppy from a litter that suited our time window. The puppies were all stillborn and circumstances were not going to allow us to bring a puppy into our lives at another time. The whole experiences was devastating and our children were crushed. They would not refund our deposit - instead said "We've heard it all" and said we can have a puppy from a future litter. They were absolutely HEARTLESS. I would NEVER purchase a puppy from a kennel who operates like this. Absolutely heartless. read more
