We were driving on Christmas Eve to go see family in Northern Cali. The bottom splash shield of our Prius came loose as we drove through some pretty intense rain/puddles/flooding through the grapevine on the I-5. The plastic piece got bent out of shape and started dragging on the road and we needed to get it taken off since we had a 4 hour drive still ahead of us. We called Benny and he kindly agreed to take a look at our car on short notice. He removed the broken splash shield for us and ensured that our car was in good shape for the rest of the drive. Basic safety details missed that could cause damage to your car or cause an accident. Avoid this business! Brought my car in for brake pads and a brake fluid service and had a very disappointing experience from start to finish. After dropping if off around 9:15ishAM, I was originally told the job would take 3 hours, but the vehicle was not ready until the following day, leaving me without transportation much longer than promised. During the process, the shop told me they couldn't find the lug nut key and had me return to help locate it myself, only for it to already be there. This resulted in multiple unnecessary trips and 1.5 mile walk (each way) in extreme heat because I didn't have my car and I had to be at work, so I used my break time to walk back to the shop, open my car door, and picked it from the place I was describing where it was over the phone and handed it directly to the receptionist. Hey...I got my steps in! :-) Communication throughout the entire process was poor. When I finally picked up the vehicle, I later discovered the brake fluid service I originally requested was never completed. I only responded kindly and respectfully only to be met with a bad attitude. Not family friendly. Most concerning of all, after driving several hundred miles at freeway speeds, including through the Grapevine, I discovered the passenger-side wheel was missing a lug nut after the brake work had been performed. My Dad found it outside our house where I always park. That is a serious safety issue and should have been caught during a final inspection before the vehicle was released. I ended up getting my Brake Fluid Service done at Valvoline Express in Anaheim and the mechanics there had notified me of the missing lug nut on the passenger side. They also made note of it on record (sent via email). I had to carefully drive back to Bakersfield. I tried calling for the past 2 days to see if I can stop by and get it tightened. No answer. Overall, this experience involved delayed service, incomplete work, poor communication, unnecessary inconvenience to the customer, and a major safety oversight. I strongly recommend double-checking all work before leaving the shop. I would not recommend this shop. read more

I am clueless about fixing cars. So if I go to a mechanic I expect the mechanic to be honest, knowledgeable, and thorough. Unfortunately, this is NOT the experience I've had with this shop. One of my first experiences, I took one of my vehicles. I don't recall the reason but apparently I was imagining things and there was nothing wrong. Few months later and my transmission was done for. I'm not blaming this on them just saying perhaps if a more thorough inspection would have helped. Now 2025, I take my vehicle in because my engine light is on and my car is shaking and slowing down while driving. I need a catalytic converter so it was replaced. The other issue of shaking/slowing down is because of my tires according to this shop. Fast fwd, my car is still slowing down, shaking, battery light is on and now making a horrific noise. Take it over to get checked. They tell me I need a new engine $4,500-6,000 estimate. What? Apparently, they turned it on, heard the noise and said I need a new engine. ABSOLUTELY NO INSPECTION WAS DONE. From my google search it said battery light could be related to the alternator. I took it in for a second opinion at El Gato Auto Repair and Muffler. Guess what?! It WAS THE ALTERNATOR. Eddie from El gato inspected the vehicle right in front of me and showed me the issue quoted me $650-777. I was very disappointed in Benny's lack of inspection of my vehicle. It was STRESSFUL to hear I needed a new engine. If you don't know about cars and someone quotes you with a very steep estimate and severe mechanical issues get a SECOND opinion. I will no longer go to Benny's due to lack of trust in their services. Be cautious when going to this shop. read more

I love Benny's. I take all of my vehicles there. It's a family owned business and their prices are very competitive. Benny's daughter, Stephanie, is the receptionist and she's always courteous and knowledgeable. Most of the time I get my vehicle back the same day. I would definitely recommend Benny's if you need quality service in a timely fashion. read more

All others same area yes Sam help me he is good but there is one Auto Car he is really bad ass he said first $35 and changed said $50 he is rip off. Let's talk about legitimate auto repair. The daughter who works The front desk knows everything about cars. She's also cute haha. They're so nice and ACTUALLY there to help people. I'm in my way to Santa Cruz and my front break pads was causing my car to shake upon breaking. I have a newer car and they didn't have the parts but she drove 40 miles just to get the break pads. Are there 2 Bennys?..i must have gotten the rude Benny.What a terrible attitude you have Benny. I showed up at 830am was the only other car there. He gets his leaf blower out and begins to blow dust all over my truck. As other cars begin to roll in he continues to keep blowing dust all over customers vehicles even as they are exiting their cars without stopping. Benny tells me to go inside to speak to a lady about pricing. She magically pulls a random price out of her head and told me it would take 3 hours to replace 2 front break pads.... smh 3 HOURS!!!??? By that time more cars began to pull in. I guess first come isn't first served as benny is the only one who works there so he gradually works on all the cars at the same time. I told the lady no thanks and Benny overhearing this came up to me and said "you can do whatever you want" in a smug condescending voice. I ended up going to Tony's tires and brakes. Waaay cheaper,friendly attitude and installed my brakes right away lol (less than 45 mins). Benny you either hate your job or are overworked and understaffed and it shows in your face and attitude. We had a cylinder misfire on our drive up the 5 north. We pulled off on Taft highway and ended up at Benny's Automotive. He got right to work diagnosing and then ordering the part. We had to wait about an hour for the part to arrive (not Benny's fault) but as soon as it arrived he installed it right away. All for a very affordable price! We can't speak highly enough about this very nice, and seemingly very honest mechanic. I would use him as my regular mechanic if I lived in this area! read more

Had a check engine light and took car to Benny's. They called back same day with estimate but said part had to be ordered and that I could pick up the car so as to not leave it outside overnight. I left a deposit and the part came in late next day so I waited to take car in until the following day. Car was finished in a matter of hours for less than the original estimate. I was traveling through Bakersfield on Highway 99 on my way home to San Diego late on a Saturday afternoon when my car broke down. I pulled off the highway about a half a mile from Benny's and found him via Google. I called him at about 4:45. Although he normally closed his shop at 5:00 he agreed to take my car in to see if he could do anything that day. It turned out to be about 2 hours work and he agreed to stay and fix it while I waited. I was on the road a few hours later, and the work was solid. He could have seriously gouged me, but he only charged normal shop rate (I paid extra to tip him and his employee that stayed to help anyway). I'm not promising he'll always do that, but it was a sign of an honest guy who wasn't looking to take advantage of someone in a bind. If I lived in Bakersfield, this guy would be my regular mechanic. read more
