Even though the stump was cut as close to the ground as possible, there was a mound about 2 feet high and the roots went out 15 feet. He ground everything thoroughly, removed yards of chips, then packed topsoil down, seeded and put straw down for us. It looks like there was never even a tree there now, just like he said!
