I had a load of top soil delivered and the driver (I believe his name was Ron) got out of the truck and came over to talk to me about exactly what I was trying to do to make sure he could drop the soil in the best place possible. He then expertly maneuvered the dump truck in to the perfect position. I really appreciated the time he took to understand my job and help me out as much as possible. Great service. I want to give a shout out to John who works at Grillo Services and the company . I went to their yard to look at different mulch products . This could have been overwhelming since they have many different types but it was a very good experience. John took me around the yard and when I selected my choices he put them in plastic baggie so I could view at home and tell advise my landscaper. This review is long overdue, but I struggle months later with the outcome. I purchased screened topsoil from Grillo. There was so much wood chip, rock, glass and in some cases garbage mixed into the topsoil that I took away 3 yards while raking it out (I had ordered over 60 yards). Do not buy from Grillo, the stuff is garbage. I ended up going to Ferris in Danbury and getting 2 extra loads to top the Grillo topsoil. In some areas where it didn't cover, the grass still hasn't grown (after 5 months and reseeding). I had read the reviews and didn't bother contacting them because it appears they get very defensive. Stay away from this topsoil. read more

Customer service here sucks! I called to ask about a fungus growing In their "top of the line" sweet peat mulch. I was not complaining, I was inquiring and they immediately took the defensive attitude. They refused to talk to me or my gardener about it. They told me to send pictures but that it would not do me any good. I have been told be good sources that the mulch is responsible for the fungus choking my perennials by the roots. I had 20 yards of this mulch delivered last spring and the fungus was first noticed in February when we had to move the very last of the pile from one part of the yard to another. Now the problem exists around the entire yard, front and back. It's not like I was blaming them, but the "gentleman" got down right nasty. "I don't know where you think you are going with this." My reply was "I am just asking questions. Have you seen this before? Can you tell me what it is? Can you tell me where else it might come from?" He simply got hussy with me! Don't buy your mulch here. Not if you expect good customer service when you ask reasonable questions. I am left with my own bad attitude. read more

I bough the garden mix. It is full of plastic, and other stuff. Not suitable for growing food my family is going to eat. So I used it to fill and level my lawn. I saw some plastic, and I was concerned, but after a rain I could see all the crap, had to dig it back out of my garden. I went out and bought bagged compost. read more

Ordered a cord of wood and had it delivered for a total cost of $375. I was told the wood was seasoned. After they dumped it on my yard and we finished stacking it in our garage, we tried to start a fire. Water was literally bubbling out of the side of the wood and it wouldn't burn. Complete ripoff. Don't buy wood from this company. I'll be trying to get my money back. read more

Sorry to say but Grillo failed us. We picked Grillo based on good reviews even though their prices were a tad bit higher than other local dumpster companies. I was told delivery was a three hour window. We ordered and paid for the dumpster with a delivery window of 9AM-12Noon and a thirty minute call beforehand. I told them I had three workers ready to fill this dumpster. 12:30 and no dumpster and no phone call. My manager calls at 12:35 and is told that they are running behind but we are next delivery. The dumpster is finally delivered at 1:25PM. Too late to fill it. When I called to complain, customer service gave me a totally lame excuse, "we only have two trucks, three hours is only a target not a guarantee and to find out what happened, I'd have to check with dispatch (which he obviously didn't want to do). I use dumpsters for my property management company semi regularly and Grillo will not be on my call list in the future. read more

I will not even give this company (Grillo Pool Closures) a star. (In order to post had to put in a star.) Contacted Sean on several occasions to obtain a quote on removing my moms in ground pool. Arranged to meet on two occasions with him or his brother and both times no one showed up. Have not heard anything back from them either and it is now a week later. While my pool was removed and a backyard was put in, the dump truck that delivered the dirt totally destroyed my driveway and killed two big bushes. After several attempts to contact Sean to try to get the issue resolved, and after dodging responsibility, he finally agreed to repair the driveway. Then he disappeared and stopped returning our calls and emails, so we are left with a ruined driveway. Very disappointed. read more
