We have stopped going to this location, period. Primary because of one woman that works there who is incredible rude and she was that way each and every time we went. Pawn shops in El Paso have vital function primarily because the wages are so low in the area but doesn't excuse the behavior that one individual. In addition prices, generally speaking have gone up for the merchandise that one would expect a better deal on. Frequently I can get the same price at Walmart for an item that is new. Price gouges customers. The employee said, we only paid $80 for this item, what price we can do for them? Manager said they wouldn't sell it for $250. Charged me $300. Greedy. They didn't have the cords for me to test the item and after I went to check out they tried to tell me since I don't have a phone number I'm not allowed to make purchases from their store. The customer service has gotten better in the recent times I've been here. They used to be extremely rude, especially over the phone. They hung up on me a few times in the past. I'd also be on hold for around 10-15 minutes. They are more attentive and polite to customers these days. A lot of their stuff is also reasonably priced. I like to look at the electronics and purses they have. A like new Coach wallet was around $20 (if I remember correctly). They also have nice cameras and TVs for sale. read more

There is a new Assistant Manager there now, Yesenia is her name and she used to work on the west side of town. She always has a smile on her face and is genuine there for the customers and what situation they are in whether it's to buy, sell or pawn. There is usually a line to see her since she has customers that ask for her by name. My pickup rate is up there and that also helps. Well I walk in and I was distracted by a guy talking to an employee, he said because he was military, but out of state drivers license, he could get a pistol, he was also over 21, (I asked). The employee very rudly said that he cant get anything. I asked if he had his orders bringing him to Texas, which he said he did. I told the employee, that with that he was a Texas resident, but he can keep his drivers license. The employee turned to me and said that was the law, and walked away. This poor person, had no idea that I just went through the same process, and I verified with the ATF before a family member of mine went to buy a gun. Benny's continues to decline since changing ownership. Why would I purchase a used item that's price is close to the purchase of a new one. Take for instance their used handguns. Having the price of a used Generation 4 Glock at $395.00 when it can purchased new for around $500 does not make sense. Prior to their change in ownership you could negotiate with them now that process is close to impossible. Another issue is that borrow against and were the same price now they are not. They will give you a higher price if you borrow and a much lower price if you sell. An obvious attempt to make more money! Benny's should keep in mind they are a pawn shop not Best Buy. read more

I use to go Benny's all the time. However ever since they changed owners they have become difficult. They lowball items and negotiate little. It seems now they are all about the money. Why should we pay retail prices on used merchandise. Their jewelry are very expensive but give you little break when they sell. Their TV'S are very close to retail prices. If fact I could go to Best Buy & get the same TV at roughly the same price. They might give you s $50.00 break on something that has been their for months but on newer items they refuse to budge. Different locations will take different items. The staff is friendly in most locations except the one on Horizon. Rarely do they let you have an item now without paying sales tax. The other day I took a leather coat in since it was to big for my wife and they refused to take it. Strange since they have a whole rack of coats. Lately they only want to take high end items. In addition their return policy is not the best. Say you purchase a laptop & it wasn't functioning well you return in within 7 days. They will not give you your cash back only store credit forcing you to purchase something else at their location. Their better pawn shops in El Paso. Ordered a Washburn RB2002 bass from them.Item came with good neck and no damage to body. Which is good. So I do NOT want to return it. However: 1.The item is advertised with gig bag. They didn't send it to me and refused to send it to me. 2. Item came with 2 broken strings. Seller REFUSED to replace them. 3. Item came in with one switch broken. Seller refused to repair it. 4. Seller did NOT pay shipping fully, so post office wanted to charge me $32 that seller did not pay, because according to post office seller LIED about size and weight of the package when he created shipping label. The service was not bad at all. They answered all the questions and they agreed to look up the manual for the item I was purchasing before I purchased the item and to come in the next day. While we were there my son bought a video game, we went home and the game did not work. They do not exchange or refund, so I did not return to buy the over $1000 electronic since I could not trust their products and was not confident I had a warranty they could back up. read more
