And I know, judging by the name, you'd think it's all about aliens...but no, this place has a little bit of everything. Comic books, vinyl records, vintage lunchboxes, sweet Breaking Bad artwork, and neon sign. There's just a million different things in this store that I love and want to own. So many things that I want, but a few of the things that stood out on my first trip was the Captain Morgan statue (that thing was seriously bigger than me...check the pictures), the Walk/Don't Walk signs, a snowglobe with the original owner's picture in it (perfect gift for White Elephant...just saying), and the huge amount of comic books that were only $2. A5S is in this antique shopping warehouse that's filled with a bunch of different stores, so it may be an all day trip if you're like me. The outside really doesn't look like much, but A5S is huge. You're not human if you don't leave this place with a bag filled with cool stuff at an unbeatable price.

A few words come to mind when I think of this local shop...unique, interesting, creative, creepy…read moreand weird (in a good way). Tooth & Veil isn't your typical Walgreens or Target, you know, a normal and ordinary store. They offer lots of spooky attire, goodies, herbs and more. The owner (Michelle) is a believer of using natural herbs and desert plants to heal the body. If you're from El Paso or the area, you probably know what I'm talking about. I'll give you some examples. When I was a kid, my mom grew yerba buena (mint) in our front yard. She would boil it to make a warm tea for a stomach ache. My grandma often made me cinnamon tea to cure cramps. My family also uses aloe vera to help cure/heal a burn. You cut one of the branches in half. You rub the clear and gooey substance from inside on your burn/cut. It's really soothing. It also works great for a sunburn, especially the type of burn where your skin is peeling. Michelle also carries a variety of teas and even taxidermy items. Their taxidermy products are quite popular with her clients. I saw a rattlesnake, some kind of rodent and even a crocodile head. Michelle's husband told me they've encountered some friendly ghosts at their shop! Wow creepy! If you aren't in El Paso, they have a website you can check out and buy items from. If you're looking for a spooky and/or unique gift for someone, I highly recommend Tooth & Veil. You'll be amazed with the items in there. Check it out! There is something for everyone in there. Doniphan is truly an antiquer's haven, but most of the good spots you really just have to know…read moreabout them. This is probably why I can spend hours on end on Doniphan. So on the hunt for a different antique shop (specifically one that sells antiques from hotels... turns out it's now closed or moved) we zipped past West Studio. What really caught our attention was the big wooden doors with their sign up above. It wasn't easy to determine exactly what we'd find here, but we knew it was worth a look. On the outside we found a lot of antique doors, but hidden in between each bunch of doors is something unique like a wooden planter or large metal milk jugs. On the covered outdoor portion there was a lot of rustic wood available for purchase as well as some tables and bars. Inside we found a small collection of refinished and newly built tables, chairs, cabinets, and the like. I was specifically looking for a table for our front entrance, but I knew that I needed to find one that the price point was right since I was more than likely going to be painting part or all of it. They did have one table that I liked, but for what I'd be doing to it the price wasn't right for me. That being said, I contemplated buying a cabinet we didn't need. We spoke with one of the staff members on site and he did let us know that they can also finish wood projects for you as well as reupholster chairs. This is a really good stop if you're looking for pieces that could be turned into something else (i.e. doors into a table). You really have to give yourself some time though to look over all of the pieces. I was really impressed by the quality of woods available that would be perfect for any type of unique project you're looking to do.
