What a great find! Billy was an excellent bartender for the "new girl ". I thoroughly enjoyed him and he was very polite and helpful. This place has a great selection of craft beer, made right here on the premesis. And from what I'm told another spot is opening up for one to be a stand alone brewery and one to remain a brew pub! Their menu is typical of pub fare, however it is outstanding (quesadilla is on point)! Prices are quite reasonable for craft beer and food... my bill was less than $20 for two craft beers and food! This would be a great place to watch sports! They have lots of huge TVs and the table placement is on point (aside from the long table that is just to the right of the front entrance... people are in the way of the door... a little awkward). Since this is Maryland, if you are a smoker, there is a large patio on the sidewalk in front of the bar, however, it is gated, so you can take your beverage. If I end up on another random roadtrip... Had been getting craft beer from Benny's To Go for many months but I had yet to check out the pub. We should have gone sooner. Food was great. Beer selection was great. Service was great. There was even live music from a local band. My wife and I got the crab dip to start and it did not disappoint. A big portion to boot. For the main entree, I got the Bourbon Burger. The burger was seasoned and cooked properly--really juicy and tasty! Tried a few different styles of beer from the menu. My bar may be set pretty high for a burger having been to both locations of Abby's burger Bistro, Koopers Tavern and Red Star in Baltimore. This was not up to their caliber but was a solid burger. The Gouda bites were good and unique (I have never seen these at any of the other joints I've been to in baltimore city) and the old bay fries were good. The boy said that his burger was cooked more of a medium than his medium rare that he asked for and the magma burger was good but was a touch on the vinegar side for me (due to the hot sauce). We will come back if opportunity presents and try other offerings on the menu but make no special trips to get burgers here. Perhaps one of the other offerings may be better as the menu was pretty typical of a bar -- wings, crab dip, and the French dip that showed up at a different table looked promising. read more

My friend and I visit this pub looking for pool tables but they didn't have any. So we had a couple of there beers. Good entertainment with live music. Quite a few friendly people. Had a lady read us our horoscope she was funny we had a great conversation with her. The Bartender was helpful and fast. They only had one server which she was nice and friendly, but did spend a lot of time talking to the regulars or friends she knew. We had to grab our own beers most of the night but still had a good time. We may go back may not. It's one of the few bars open after ten. Down side was there website still shows they have pool table when they don't. If you go I think you will have a good time but don't go looking to play pool. read more

In town from Wisconsin for work, came out and saw some live music here over the summer and to my surprise it was a Packer bar! Green Bay stuff everywhere! So cut to NFL Sunday opener we found a place to come watch the packer game, we walk in on nfl Sunday kickoff and there is a band setting up during the NFL games! What the hell!!!! There was a group of us that went into Benny's Pub in Hagerstown (8 adults and 2 children) on Saturday July 18th and when we walked in we we're told only 6 at a table due to the Covid - 19 so 5 sat at one table and 3 at another. Not one waiter/waitress spoke to us after that. We were ignored as if we were not there. The bar was full of people even though we were told only 6 at a table. The waiter/waitresses there were rude and didn't have the decency to tell any of us that we would not be waited on because our group was too big and that we should go somewhere else. The staff at this pub do not have balls or the correct training or knowledge of how to deal or communicate with customers. I do not recommend this place if you want good customer service!! read more

We weren't completely sure what to expect when we walked in (Benny's has a well loved feel) but we were pleasantly surprised. We sat in the back bar and the bartender waited on our table. It was Saturday night and she was on the ball. The food was good. I got the turkey Rachel, one of my favourite sandwiches. It did not disappoint! It was very tasty, and the fries were good. We decided to swing by on a whim. It was past lunch time, we were hungry. My hUbs got the crab cake burger and a beer. He really enjoyed the beer. The burger was so juicy and delicious. The only complaint was the crab cake tasted like it had a lot of fillers. No biggy, he chomped it down! I had the bourbon burger, best burger I have had in a long time. First of all, we go out around once a week. Things during COVID have been different. That's okay, I get it. We ended up at Benny's tonight after the place we wanted to go was closed. We've been before; it was never great, but not terrible, either. We were hungry, it will suffice. We seated ourselves and were seen by our server after about five minutes. Ordered drinks, and they came out after another five or so minutes. Perfectly acceptable. We ordered the crab pretzel appetizer and two burgers with French fries. The appetizer took about twenty minutes, and it was nothing spectacular; pre-frozen pretzel sticks and canned crab. Whatever. I ordered another drink, and it came out in another five minutes. This was the last time we saw our server or our entrees for another... forty minutes. The place wasn't busy. Maybe another twenty people inside. The bar area was relatively crowded, compared to the dining area, which was about six or seven tables. Two tables that came after us got their food. Same server. We just sat there. After forty minutes, and an HOUR after ordering, our burgers came out. They weren't even brought by our server, who was clearly avoiding us because the food was taking so long. They were hot, but by that time, we had to go, and asked for boxes. How quickly they got us boxes and our check was the highlight of the night. $56 later, I'm irritated, hungry, and not impressed. Can't say I would ever return for mediocre burgers and frozen fries that take an hour to come out. The beer I ordered was pretty good, though. read more

Great food! This place has awesome beer and next store, owned by the same people is the best liquor store in Hagerstown for beer. Benny's is a restraint and brewery they use as much local ingredients in there food and beer as possible. Not a large menu mostly sandwiches but very tasty the atmosphere is friendly and it feels like a great place to make your local spot like cheers. I will definitely be back and highly recommend you heading over. read more

When we went, it was a particularly busy evening and I took this into account with the review. They were holding an event and it hardly seemed a good location for it because you could hardly move in the place. I was disappointed that it wasn't more family friendly than it was, as it was a "pub". It would be suitable for older kids, but not so much for toddlers - namely due to the smaller menu that was mostly large burgers or fried food appetizers/sides. My first note, it was more of a bar than a "pub". There was only one or two open tables and they were all dirty. It took the bartender leaving the bar to come out and clean them off. Unfortunately, the table we were able to get was right next to the door where everyone stepped out to smoke - each time the door opened while we were eating I felt a wave of nausea. I have no qualms with smokers, but I don't want a wave of ashtray smell blowing in my face while I'm eating. The waitress was slow to come to our table for our order. We were excited to try some of their beers since they were made on sight. My husband got a stout that was flat and I sampled the blueberry, it had no blueberry flavor at all. The food came out relatively quick, but was over cooked and mediocre at best. It seems like it would be a decent hang out to grab some bottled brews and drunk munchies, but didn't live up to my expectations. read more

All I can say is 'wow'. Went over St. Paddy's weekend. The good/great: the coconut shrimp were PERFECT! I strongly recommend the appetizer platter. It came with beer battered mozzarella sticks, coconut shrimp, crab dip on bruschetta and cheese quesadillas. As mentioned the shrimp were perfect! The crab dip on bruschetta seem to be a bunch of cheese on some crispy bread, but it was okay. The mozzarella sticks were small but good and the cheese quesadillas were good (lots of cheese) but unremarkable. The food was REALLY fresh! I was told by the bartender that nearly everything is made fresh all the time. Had the Irish nachos next, and am not completely sure it was beef (not pork) on top of the tater tots. They were alright--good food to enjoy with beer. Def like the tater tots in leu of chips. Service: The one bartend was a little overwhelmed, and tended to be less aware of clients when she was 'in the zone', but she did her job and was hustling (props, Girl!). The owner, Bill, was polite, wanted to make sure we had a good experience and did a great job of helping his staff! A second bartend came on and she was great about picking up the slack. Considering it was a very busy afternoon the staff did alright. Thumbs up! The brew: Well, this is where things got mediocre. I tried four of their house brews. The fruit based brew drank like a light, effervescent champagne rather than a beer. Not exactly my cup of tea. The milk stout was medium smoky and reminded me of one of the Roy Pitz brews. It was a stout, and versatile enough to be enjoyed with more than just jerky and cheese, but not at all what I expected. I tried the IRA--hats off to the local fire department for being honored with their own brew, and found it quite bitter and light on hops. The Golden was heavy on hops but not bitter--more my everyday choice. Oddly, Guinness is not available on tap here, so devotees be warned! The atmosphere: Friendly, middle aged crowd until a busload of St. Patty's day celebrators arrived. Good mix through the afternoon. For a smaller pub, nice friendly atmosphere-the locals were quite social at the bar, and good, fresh food. The car-bombs I had were good too. Good place to go for the atmosphere and food, a little more difficult for beer diehards--but a good experience to try out Anteitam Brewery. Cheers! read more

Great bar! The food is fantastic, the owner is friendly and treats you like family. Their recently started brewery is absolutely something to try! They have a great selection of craft beer, and the staff is knowledgeable of the beer and willing to talk to you about any of the in house beers. The downside? It's usually really busy. Several times as a patron I had to battle half drunk frat boys walking in and out, bumping into me, others, and it's super loud. I love the atmosphere when I end up there on a not-so-busy night. But those are few and far between. Overall? It's an awesome place with great atmosphere and a friendly staff. If you don't mind crowds, and mildly high prices for the area (not including their specials) then this is definitely a place to try. read more

This bar has a good choice of craft beer. It was better than I expected, but pricier also. It was well staffed and they had a wide variety of seating. The live music was a nice touch. They also had a pool table, darts, and an outdoor seating area. The only reason I don't give it more stars is because we have had much better craft beer before and nothing about it really stood out from a lot of other bars that we have visited. It was also pretty packed which was annoying and had a strange crowd of people. All in all, if you have to be in Hagerstown (which I highly recommend never going), then go to Benny's. read more
