I purchased a new car from this dealership and was told my license plates would arrive within the standard 45-day window. Now I'm approaching that deadline, and still have no plates. I followed up multiple times--no one returned my calls for two weeks. I had to physically show up to get answers. When I contacted the DMV, I was told my vehicle is not even registered under my name. My VIN doesn't show up in the system at all. When I asked about the EVR paperwork (electronic registration), it appears they didn't even file it until 38 days after my purchase--not when I got the car. The manager wouldn't speak to me directly, and staff avoided giving clear answers. They told me if the temp tag expires, they'll 'just give me another'--but still failed to explain why my car isn't properly registered. I received no tracking number, no status update, and no accountability. I was also financially harmed through a dealership-recommended insurance agent who opened two separate policies without my consent, costing me $1,000 in duplicate charges. They issued EVR documents and temporary plates while never registering my vehicle in the state system. This constitutes misrepresentation and potential fraud. They asked me to leave a 5-star review immediately after purchase--before I even received my plates or had a chance to experience the full process. At first I did, but after everything that unfolded--the delays, the false registration timeline, the insurance mess--I removed it and replaced it with this. We went looking for a new Santa Fe for our kids and eventually bought a Palasade for ourselves. The sales rep said that there was a markup of MSRP + $5000 to $7000 on all new vehicles that was non negotiable due to the shortage of availability. He also said that all dealerships were doing the mark up. A week later we found out that was not true, not every dealer was doing a mark up. With this added information, we canceled the loan on that vehicle and purchased a similar vehicle from a different dealer and wound up saving thousands ($11K). When we returned to this dealership to let them know that we decided to go with a different dealer, they were not pleased to say the least...they even asked if we would take delivery on the vehicle if they canceled the $7K non negotiable mark up? You can have evidence from the corporate website telling you that your exact vin qualifies for a recall and they tell you you're wrong it's a "limited warranty" that's expired. MANDATORY $5000 "package", really dealer mark up on ALL vehicles sold. I called and requested an out the door price on a certain vehicle, and it took nearly four days to receive one. When I finally received the cost, it was for full sticker (no surprise) but included a $5000 mandatory package, put on ALL Benson Hyundai vehicles. This package, which the salesperson adamantly stated was not a dealer markup, was for basically fabric protections, roadside protection, etc. When I said I had no need of this package I was told I had no choice, and that the price was not negotiable. Really, they add a $5000 markup, expect full sticker, and never mention the current $500 manufacturer discount or any other discount such as for students, first responders, or military, Not to mention invoice is about $1500 less, dealer holdback, vehicle was new to lot, etc. Very disappointed with Benson, but based on other reviews, I should not be surprised. read more

I would not Recommend This Place to ANYONE that values their car. Unfortunately my car was sent here to Calibrate the Adaptive Cruise Control System after my Front End had to be replaced. Last minute they were also tasked to install my headlight bulbs since it didn't get shipped with the headlight housing units. Long story short this location didn't inspect what parts where missing to install the headlight bulbs, the improperly removed my front bumper and had everything misaligned when they "installed" it back. It took them over two weeks & 3 appointments to finally have everything to then give me a hard time when I showed up for the last appointment and demanded that everything be done right. But since as a Black Person I have no right to get upset the "Manager" called the cops on me or have me removed from the location saying they won't be held responsible for the damages they caused to which I have footage to prove it. I wish I could give 0 stars. Car went in for repair after being stolen. When I go to pick it up, the broken glass is still all over backseat. They take the car and vacuum it. Return to me with broken glass STILL laying in back seat. They said oh sorry we'll do it again. NO! I was done! And noticed the Inside was ransacked. Everything out of glove compartment and middle compartment. Thrown all over. Wasn't towed there like that. Brought it to service managers attention. His explanation was "people walk thru the lot at night and even with plastic over broken window, they still can get in. Probably looking for change". Excuse me! On your property so you are suppose to keep it safe. I was furious! And the change I had in the car, was still there!! I left and contacted corporate the next day. They didn't care. Said we are sorry but each dealership is individually owned so contact them. I did email the GM and explained everything. After about 3 days he called but I missed call. He said he'd call next day. Never did! I kept emailing him and corporate. NO RESPONSES! Then I receive $100 check in mail. Memo says customer satisfaction. No one at Benson Hyundai or corporate gives a rats ass. No one wants to take responsibility for the incompetence or the violation of my car being ransacked while in their possession. I returned a leased Hyundai Elentra 2 months early because I was told by the Benson salesman Hyundai was offering a promotion at the time to forgive those payments, on the condition a new Hyundai was purchased. I accepted the offer and purchased the car. I have spent considerable time over the last 2 years researching promotions. I find that deal was for those financing a new car purchase. I did not discuss how I intended to pay for the new car until the leased car had been returned and I was assured by Robert Winecroft the total owed on the early lease return was 0. I wrote a check for the entire purchase of price of the new car. I walked out of the dealership thinking my transaction was complete. Either the salesman did not understand the terms of the Hyundai deal or did not want to jeopardize a sale he had already started. I was alarmed when I started getting billing notices about 6 months-1 year after my purchase stating that I owed the last 2 months on the leased car Benson had already sold, as well as disposition fees. I went back and forth with Robert playing phone tag and him assuring me his general manager would take care of it. I also sent an email to the general manager that went unanswered. Last month it got more serious and I was getting increasingly threatening letters from a credit collection company now adding legal and collection fees to the amount owed. I once again played phone tag with Robert and got nowhere. I looked at the negative reviews of this dealership on google and was impressed that General Manager Jeff Belsky leaves his direct line in the feedback 864-301-4501. Unfortunately, this must be a Tracphone he has specifically to send calls in to a voicemail black hole or he did not want to talk to me. Either way I was unable to get him to answer this phone or call me back. I was able to negotiate with the credit collection agency to reduce the invoice to what I originally would have owed if I took the lease to the end. My attorney said this would be the most painless way to end this madness. So, the morale of the story is buyer beware. If Benson promises you something and it is not in writing it did not happen, any promise or deal made needs to be documented or you will be liable. I learned this lesson the hard way. read more

Don't go here. They lie to your face. I brought my car in for routine maintenance. When I left I felt a problem with the transmission that had never happened before. I immediately bought it back and they said they could feel no problem on the test drive. I insisted they try again and the "Service Manager," Vance, told me he drove it himself and felt nothing wrong. Every other person (friends, family, and several other transmission repair shops) has immediately felt the problem when driving the car. I got a recall notice in the mail that directed me to take the car into a dealership again. Now they are saying that the car needs a new $5000 transmission, but there was "no problem before." I'm assuming they lied in the first place because they were responsible for the problem and did not want to fix it. Benson Hyundai (remember "Benson") gave us an amount that was at least $300 more than Kia of Greenville. They guaranteed that was the amount until we showed them the printout from the other dealership. They're crooks. We found inconsistencies in the paperwork, the manager was more concerned with setting up his new iPhone like a 12 year girl - they use a gmail address to process private info like insurance. They made us sign a non arbitration contract as well. Guess they've been sued a lot. I received her service from the used Dealer Miguel a year ago. I always got my service done there but my car kept breaking down for no reason. Come to find out it was the battery. I went in with my 2017 Hyundai Tucson for an oil change and for them to check a recall, that's it at 11:30am. I told them about My breakdowns and they told me I needed a new battery. We'll after getting my oil changed several times where they CLAIM to have checked my battery but actually didn't. I had to charge $316 to my credit card for a new battery. Then I left and went about my life. Manager calls me and stated to "Return to the Dealership, I want to help you". so I did. I sat there from 1:30pm until 8:30pm. before anyone told me how they were going to help. I already explained I DID NOT want to pay over what I was already paying which was $375. They finally return after telling me several times they are trying to work out a good deal for me. To my surprise they weren't. That told me to go outside to see inside a 2021 Hyundai Tucson that spray has 33,000 miles on it. I tell them it's nice. They NEVER gave me options. It was just take this car. They send me into the finance office and the guy tells me my note is now $535.61. SMH. Then the finance guy tells me I had to get the extended warranty. I'm at 33,000 miles, I have plenty time to get to 100,000 miles. I agree to the warranty due to him really not giving me a choice. Plus I traded in my 2017 Hyundai. Now I'm stuck in a binding contract for 75 months paying $535.61 for a vehicle that's not my dream car. For $535 I told them I'd be driving my Benz. They never listened to me telling them over and over that I didn't want to pay more then I was already paying. They don't listen to you. if they work on commission then that day all three ppl I dealt with was not hearing me. They stayed in that managers office finding ways to help themselves not me. Oh and my credit is good incase someone wants to say it's that price due to my credit. I looked over my contract they never took off for that battery which was a lie and now this car is $40k with 33k miles on it and it's not even a brand new car. Do don't go here, if they find someone that doesn't know about cats then they will take advantage. I was taken advantage of. They got $500 in dealer fees and another $500 fo r something called Infrastructure Maintenance fees and then the registration on it was another $499 and plus my $316 battery for a car I no longer had. Plus that extra Securenet Premier Plus plan is $2500 apparently I don't need it. These ppl will take advantage of you if they can. I called Hyundai to make my payment date sooner and they told me to call Hyundai Consumers Affairs and report exactly what was done to me and also put up a review of what was done. I finally left driving the new car that I had no choice in after 9pm. They told me to return the next day to get my belongings out my old car. I know my old sales rep wouldn't have taken advantage of me. I wish they had listened to me about what I was willing to pay and also given me options. I wish they talk behind my back about the price. I wish for this price I had the option to get the car I really wanted or just continued driving my old car. Yes I wanted an upgrade but if it wasn't Gods plan then so be it. Forcing a buyer to purchase a vehicle for more then they wanted to pay is wrong. All three people I dealt with never listened to me. I just got it in the shop here where I live and the bill is over $5000 to fix everything that is wrong with it including simple things like a broken caliper that you would think a 100 point inspection would notice. We went into the car service center because the car was throwing a code. They charged us $110 to check the code. They told us it was a bad coil and spark plug. That was understandable, and the price quoted was $360 for the coil and all 6 spark plugs. Which is high but being a dealership it is expected. They decided to tack on another $200 by saying that the $360 was only for 1 spark plug and coil. This was absurd. We will NEVER go here ever again and we will be advising people away from this place. This was very serious as we own 2 Hyundais. Stay away! read more
