Went for a walk, got bent. I went for a walk after my physical therapy appointment in the light industrial / warehouse area near the clinic. These kind of areas always seem to hold hidden gems and man did I stumble on one. Okay boys and girls, just go to this place now - and I do mean now. They open Friday at 2:30 and this weekend is a special weekend because they will be able to sell both their spirits and their brewed beverages. Simply outstanding beer and cider selection with the incredible addition of award-winning spirits. I sampled the Maroon and Bold (I think that's the name...probably could easily been called Marooned and Fold at 9.5%!)...a wonderfully smooth, hop-headed beer. I also sampled the extraordinary, International Double Gold award-winning, Navy Strength, Gunner Ghost Gin. Holy Crow, what a gin. No juniper berries here, just botanicals, unlike anything you've ever tasted...almost needs to be done straight up, maybe with a bit of ice or a splash of soda water. The taste us so smooth that your just not going to want to mix it. In addition, I tried the Bent Anchor Poitin (pronounced, I believe, Poocheen). It is an Irish vodka-type spirit made from potato scraps. And where do the potato scraps come from? Tada, our friends at Anchor Fish and Chips where so many potatoes are slain every day that, well, we had to do something with it! This spirit is like a very light vodka with a slight hint of potato. Very lovely. But, from talking with the Master Distiller (Bartley if I remember correct) and the front office man, Jake, the absolute best is yet to come tomorrow, 10/29, when they unleash their spiced rum and a new brewed item (I think it was a Stout?) about which all the folks there were raving. In terms of atmosphere, I think they are going for a Wisconsin bar-type look which probably suits them well now (I'll talk to Jake about that later ;-)). You might think you're in the wrong neighborhood when you come here...just persevere and you will, indeed, find it ironically located behind the renovation of a warehouse into the Twin Cities Chinese Christian Church. The pub is toward the very end of the warehouses on the left side. Well, I know where I'll be watching my beloved Cubbies in the World Series this weekend! Special cocktails available only this weekend (a special permit was pulled so brewed and distilled items could both be dispensed). A food truck is said to be on hand. Two last things: 1) try the Mule they have on tap...yummy, 2) gotta love a place that has pinball machines, Heggies pizza, and a staff who, during their break, were discussing determinism. I wanted to like it. I went several times. I've asked everyone I know if they've been to Bent Brewstillery and tried their beer. And everyone I talk to says the same thing: It is not good. Numerous brews: they all taste too minerally, chemical aftertaste. The IPAs are overblown. The darker beers are imbalanced. The bartender never seems happy to see customers let alone serve beer. The space feels disorganized and the TVs give it a half-hearted sports bar vibe. Patrons smoke cigars on the patio, and the smoke drifts across the whole space and right into the open bay doors so even those seated inside get smoked out. Maybe someday Roseville will have a more fitting brewery with pleasant staff, but it is not this day. read more

Bent didn't leave quite as much of an impression as I was hoping for. I wanted to love this place, I really did! I love the location, out in the middle of an industrial park (it just feels so genuine to the nature of brewing) and I love the taproom! It's s beautiful space with ample parking and pinball machines! The tap-tender just didn't seem to have any passion for the beer or job. I expressed some indecision and where ordinarily a server would make some recommendations or offer a taste or tell you what their favorite is, I got a, "okay, I'm going to go change a keg." Which I get! It seemed like he was alone and he needed to take care of that right away! But when he came back it was just, "ok have you decided?" Yeah, I guess so. Hopefully just an off day and not representative of a normal experience here. I don't think that I necessarily disliked the beer... I think what really got me was how straight up wrong the descriptions of those beers were... Pay more attention to the IBU than the description. The highest IBU across the board was 83, yet half the beers were described as hoppy or very hoppy. The "sour" was a little fruity, but definitely not sour. Overall just fell flat a little. read more

A new addition to the Twin Cities brewery fold. Bent merged with the former Pour Decisions brewery. Located in a warehouse area northwest of Rosedale, but they have a nice layout that holds plenty of promise. Dark Fatha is an imperial Stout with a sweet tang. Maroon and Bold is a tasty reward for the Gopher fan in you. They didn't have the spirits yet. They have installed a nice looking serving area. They have a small patio/deck for the warmer times of year. All looks very nice. Nearby food options - Grumpys is probably closest (due east about a mile or so). Plenty of other options in and about Rosedale. Why not 5 stars? Its not just a brewery, its a brewstillery. When I try out their whiskey we will see about that 5th. read more

Nice quiet spot. Lots of dogs. Less kids than most place. They fill growlers, but don't sell them kind of disappointing as I don't normally carry an empty with me. Coffee beer was good nice mix of hop and coffee. read more

This place is a big "Meh" for me. I do think the place has improved since it was Pour Decisions but the space is still just odd. Beers were decent and flights were not too expensive. The vibe just doesn't speak to me and didn't make sense at all. Other things to note, I am really curious about their distilling- this may lure me back again. Also, avoid sitting at the bar near the dish washing sink. The woman washing kept splashing suds into my beer and I was too much of a wuss to say anything. read more

POOR COVID SAFETY *** wanted to stop by for a beer because we missed this place. When we stopped by - patio was packed with no masks or social distancing in sight. Only one employee wearing a mask- owner was inside NOT wearing a mask. We did not feel comfortable staying especially with inappropriate dogs ( barking and aggressive) - which is also against policy. I was here for an event. Noir at the bar, and what a great venue. Someone actually filmed a short film here. I would love this event at this location every year, lots of space. It's drinks only but you can order food in, and have it delivered. Lots of Jimmy John's and pizza, that's advertized on the wall by the bar. Not sure of the brand. They feature 3 specialty sodas. I got the least weird sounding, blueberry lemonade. It was different, quenched my thirst for the evening. A lot of people are regulars, and the patio looks fun to hang out on. read more

My husband and I were really excited to visit Bent Brewstillery after realizing how close they were to our place - new haunt maybe? sweet! Meh - me thinks not. The two of us walked in and bellied up to the bar - the place was not particularly busy at all - maybe 2 or 3 other people at the bar top and a couple tables with patrons. We decided we wanted to do two flights to try a wide range of delicious sounding beer. After sitting and waiting (at the bar, at a chair, mind you) about 15 minutes for the guy to even acknowledge our existence (he thought dishes were more important I guess) my husband decided to get up and stand in front of the bar. Hey, maybe we were in the wrong and even if you sit at the bar you have to get up and stand in front of the bar? Weird but okay. Even then, he waited another 3-5 minutes for the guy to make contact and that was after he helped some girl who walked up AFTER my husband did. Really, dude? OKAY. We are generous tippers and always looks for a new place to spend too much money on beer but this guy was not making this place look good. After we finally got our flights we sat down and were not impressed with a single one. You know, it would have also been nice to have been talked to ABOUT their beers like many places do - like they actually take pride in what they create and want to share details and things of that nature. A REALLY good beertender will find out what you typically like to drink and make recommendations based on that. It's not like were high maintenance or anything. Overall the beers were okay - but like another reviewer said, none of them left me wanting them again. Might I also add, we were never approached by that bartender again before we finally left. The only brewery in Roseville is average to poor. It's easy to miss as its tucked far away in a little warehouse zone off County C. You'll wish you kept driving if your taste buds work even a little bit... Their cherry sour was the worst I've had anywhere and I've tried dozens of sours at this point. We ordered 5 beers total with none of them providing any elevation in spirit or taste. Atmospherically, the place is fittingly gloomy, cheered up only by a couple of pinball machines and some Christmas lights. The employees want to go home and so do you. Nordic Blonde, their flagship, is about the worst excuse for a fermenter this side of Miller Brewing. I would honestly prefer a good old fashion PBR or Grainbelt Premium over this bland offering. Add to that their petty war with the far superior Bent Paddle brewing over namesake and you have yourself a brewery that needs to pack its shit and make room for some new contenders as soon as possible. read more

Long time fan, Bent Brewstillery has possibly the most unique brews in the Twin Cities. Personal favorites are the dark stouts and some of the sour beers. Didn't know I liked sour beer until I tried them there. They also have a nice assortment of spirits available for purchase. Here again some unique offerings like potien, a potato based distilled spirit. Think Irish moonshine. Their Navy strength gin and the assortments of rums are also outstanding. Finally the overall ambiance is great. Nice folks- highly recommended. read more

NOTE: If you're taking an Uber here, the directions take you to some truck warehouse. We had to direct the driver there with Google Maps. The beers were very good and they had some interesting choices, especially the sours, which I'm a big fan of. The taproom was nice, with outdoor seating and a large garage door that could be opened on nice days. We talked with one of the owners for a bit, and he was a really nice guy. Really unhappy with this brewery. Myself and a few members of my family decided to stop by (30 minutes away for all of us) to try out this place on our MN Pub Pass. Let me just say, it was 25° hotter WITH insane humidity inside the brewery than it was outside. Even with the garage doors open. You guys NEED to figure out how to temperature control your space because it was so ungodly uncomfortable to sit in there. The beers were warm within minutes, and they wouldn't allow us to choose any beer off the menu in exchange for a stamp on our pub pass (against the policy of the pub pass, might I add). The food truck outside was so disgusting and dirty. I peeked into the window over the 9 year old boy taking orders from people to witness meat and toppings burnt onto the stove stop and pouring onto the countertop. It was really disgusting. Myself and my family will not be returning and I recommend you try somewhere else as well. read more

I've been here a few times. I really enjoy their beer. Tonight we sat out on the patio, it isn't very big but most people were inside for trivia so we found a spot. It was pretty hot and stuffy inside plus just one bartender, so it was pretty slow, but I like the beer. The other times I've been here they've had the garage doors open but tonight they were closed, didn't help the stuffiness. They have different food trucks and tonight was the lucky brisket bbq, pretty delicious. For beer, I had the tropikus ipa and the obst hefe. I thought both were very flavorful and tasty. I usually don't care for IPAs as much but the tropikus had a good fruity passion fruit flavor to it. I love wheat beers and the obst hefe was great. read more

The only thing in Roseville I've been to, this was worth the trip for me. Brewstillery is a strange concept for me as it's illegal in the state I'm from (Arizona) and it seems bizarre that it's legal here in the land of arbitrary liquor laws that are just now changing in 2017. Once I got past that, though, this place is amazing. A great selection of pinball that you can pay for with an app (since no one ever has cash these days) and a ton of beers on tap with something for just about everyone. And if you don't like the beer, there's always the house-made liquor! While we were there, there was also some kind of celebration happening and we were offered free cake. I loved Bent Brewstillery! I visited because I got the Groupon for two flights, two pint glasses and a beer credit. Money well spent. I enjoyed the standard beers, except the stout didn't have much a flavor for me. Regardless, they had a great selection of beers and liquors. My boyfriend and I got a taste of the liquors and left with a bottle. The workers are friendly and the environment is relaxed. I'll be back soon! read more

Checked out Bent tonight for a get together with a few other Yelpers tonight. I have to say that the experience left me feeling a bit let down. As a brewery and distillery, Bent Brewstillery makes both beer and liquor, but because of Minnesota's blue laws, they can only sell beer for consumption on-site. The liquor will have to wait until you get home. While I can't blame them for not being able to serve half of their inventory, it was a bit of a letdown all the same. The bigger letdown, however, was the beer, which was just ok. I tried the Nordic Blonde, the Uber Lupin, the Giga Lupin, the Nicked, and the No. 10 Margarita Mead. None of them were particularly bad, but I couldn't imagine craving one, with the exception of the Giga Lupin, a seasonal triple IPA, which at 10% ABV, isn't very sessionable. Speaking of sessions, if you come with a group, be prepared to invest a fair amount of time away from them because there are no servers and only one bartender, so you have to wait in line as the hapless suds-slinger tries to keep up with all the orders. I got stuck behind a couple that ordered two four-beer flights, which ate up a great deal of time. It's nice to have the option to try a bunch of things, but by the time the flights were finished pouring, the line was eight people deep. The line does ebb and flow, but it's not appreciated by your companions if you're constantly looking over their shoulder to see if the line's short enough to get another round. When I mentioned the lack of servers, I should mention that there are a few folks walking around to clear empties, but be careful, as they can be a bit too eager to make space on your table and walk off with the last bit of your drink if you're not paying very close attention. The overall aesthetic of the place definitely has an industrial feel, which makes sense since it's in the middle of an industrial park. While many breweries are located in similar industrial or heavy commercial settings, you won't find anything that makes it feel unique. It just feels a bit unfinished. All in all, there's nothing truly wrong with Bent, it's just not quite ready for prime time. If that's damning with faint praise, I guess I just had much higher expectations. If you want a swanky feeling distillery--and the handcrafted cocktails associated therewith--there are a more than a few places focusing exclusively on the strong stuff in Northeast that will definitely class it up a few notches. read more

Customer Experience: The customer experience/service is amazing. From my very first visit to my most recent I have felt at home. The staff is amazingly friendly and really has a passion for what they do and take a lot of pride in their business. Even the owner has came up to me several times just to chat with me. Very quick with service, regardless of how busy they get. Beer Selection/taste: The selection is awesome. I love trying new things and there is always something new being cooked up for us. Also, the good old standby's are amazing. The Nordic Blonde and Moar are the most popular with my friends along with trying some of the new sours and double/single stouts. Overall: I give this a 5/5 because it blends a great product with great people! I love venturing out into areas in the Twin Cities where none would expect a bar or restaurant. Bent is literally located in an industrial park, in the back, in what seems like an inventory garage. So badass. They've built a concrete patio, with picnic tables and umbrellas, with an array of changing food trucks at just the right height to grab your grub. The first time I went, they had a decent game selection, and a basket of what must have been a promo - lots of free snacks. I went back recently and nothing free was in sight. Sigh. However, I did manage to pick up a BOGO coupon at my local Cub Foods Liquor store, so I went ahead and ordered something off their menu that I otherwise would have overlooked. I tried their ExperiementAle "Oakmeal Stout". I was underwhelmed. It tasted flat and was served almost room temp. I also tried their #14 Cherry. I was again underwhelmed - I'd hoped for something smooth, but it reminded me of sour cherry candy. Both beverages tasted...like they'd been left in the sun too long, which is probably a style of beer that many people appreciate, but mine felt flat and too tart. Yes I am aware that they have many 'Sour' beers, but a tart Stout? No thanks. I asked for a few samples before I chose my final brew, their year-round Nordic Blonde, which tasted fine. Now I know to ask for a bump before I commit. Or maybe I'll do what smart people do and order a flight :) I don't love visiting places with so much hit-or-miss, but let me tell you why I keep coming back.... THEIR BIDET. Their toilets have me dreaming of my next pee...really! They clean you front and back, with seat warmers to boot. Some people find these terribly confusing and scary, but let me assure you, once you give them a shot, you'll never want to go back. I found the owner and told her how excited I was to have found one in the TC, and she grabbed her store manager and said "SEE! PEOPLE LOVE THEM!" Way to go and be original. Have I just talked about toilets for half my review? Their taproom needed something to tie it all together, sort of a mismatched collection of chairs and booths. It was cool to see some retro pinball machines though! The bartenders were fine, but a little eye-contact and smiling goes a long way, in my book. Me and my husband stumbled upon this place and thought it was a nice little spot in the neighborhood to bike to in the summer. When we pulled up there was an old classic car parked in front and we were told it was the owners. Cool right? So we got our drinks and sat down and we're approached by this owner. DRUNK AS A SKUNK. But nice enough and had a lot to talk about. NASA, distilleries and somehow we got on the topic of crawfish. STAY WITH ME. I told him i had never eaten them and asked "so do you just crack them open and (motioned like if you were eating an oyster) and he looked at me super sleezy and goes "oooh, do that again!" RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY HUSBAND! Other disgusting comments were made and then when we Paid the tab he stumbled out to his "cool car" and drove off. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING! And he's lucky he didn't get his teeth knocked out. Or a lawsuit! read more

Great bar tenders and wonderful crowd. The owners creativity with his beers, meads and Cocktails sets this place apart from others. Bent is worth the extra few minutes in the car if you're coming from mpls/stp. Bored with the plethora of average beer at the taprooms scattered across the cities? Then this is your spot. They've got your standard IPAs like the Nordic Blonde, but also are experimenting with unique flavors more than any other brewery in MN (besides Surly). I think they are on the 5th or 6th beer in their Funked-Up series of sours. Someone below gave a bad review for their beer being sour. That person should stick to Summit. Sour beers are infected with bacteria to make them taste funky and tart. It's a tedious and time consuming process to make sours; that's why most other breweries don't do it. Bent has balls. Barrel aged double stout, gose, imperial souts, real heady stuff. The Uber Lupin is a tasty seasonal beer that all snobs and newbs alike can enjoy. I've refilled my growler several times with the Uber. Ive seen a few cover bands play on the weekends in their intimate space, music was too loud to converse. We did not go there to hear this mediocre band, don't shove it down our throat. The woman serving me the last time didn't really know beer, I had to show her how to pour a nitro. There is no food but it sounds like they will be having more cookouts during the summer in the huge parking lot. Even though they're a brewstillery they can only serve beer, MN law. Overall, I like Bent and will be going back to try beers as they release. read more

My wife and have the absolute pleasure of going to Bent Brewstillery since they opened. The beer is fantastic and folks there are some if the best in the business. We were here for the first time today for their annual CarBbq car show supporting local Police, Fire and Emt's, great beer selections we had Nordic Blond and the Great Sweat both refreshing, super cool atmosphere and excellent barbecue companies catering the show today, Carlins Family BBQ and MR Pig Stuff, tried both and was very impressed, really a fun day and we will be back, thank you Bartley & Brenda and your great staff!!! read more

In the area for the weekend and an awesome deal on a Groupon is what brought us to Bent. The location had us a bit confused as first, but completely dissolved once we approached the Brewstillery. Nice little bar with a decent enough Patio. Love that they are so dog friendly! Bartender was helpful and kept up well when business started picking up as the afternoon went on. The bathrooms were immaculate - as another girl had mentioned ours are equipped with bidets which may be a little intimidating at first, but once the beers start flowing it's easy to start pressing buttons As others have mentioned it would've been nice if they could serve the liquor they make, but also understand the different laws and liquor licenses. We tried a handful of beers and while they weren't terrible there wasn't really anything that stuck out that would have me coming back for more. Just my taste - yours may be different.
