Great public course I've played on several occasions with great friends from the surrounding area. It has always been in great shape and can be very challenging if you under don't manage the course. Their are some birdie opportunities so it is possible to shoot some low scores. The greens run true and the speed can vary depending on the weather but they always seem to hold okay. There are a few holes that can frustrate you if you let them especially if you try and kill the ball instead of playing the hole in regulation you will know these holes when you stand on the tee box don't be tempted. The club house has decent food and good service and the pro shop can provide you with anything you may have forgotten to bring but a low score. I hope to have a few more rounds here in the future. read more

Bent Tree Golf Club - Golf Near Me - Sunbury, Ohio

This course used to be wonderful. Unfortunately, since the new ownership took over, the overall condition has declined significantly. The sand traps are hard and filled with weeds, and the tee boxes are in poor shape. It also appears that several trash cans have been removed from the course, making it less convenient for golfers. Given the current conditions, I feel the course is overpriced. It's disappointing to see a course that was once so enjoyable not being maintained to the standard golfers expect. I sincerely hope improvements are made and that the course can return to the quality it once offered. read more

Course is In terrible shape for the second year in a row. There is no regard for pace of play at all. Course constantly backs up and makes playing golf unbearable. I've had to get my money back more than once for how awful it's been and I'll never go back. Had to come back in to add how SAD it is that this course is poorly maintained and poorly managed. I've played this course three times and it's difficult, but not so difficult that I get frustrated. It can be a little damp with some standing water if it's rained recently, so keep an eye on the weather before and during your round. But, overall it's a good course just north of Columbus. read more

Great course to play, maybe the best in central Ohio itself. The greens are in good shape and the management team is very skilled in the way they take care of this course. Nice place to putt around before a round of golf and the range isn't too bad but it definitely needs some of the grass to start growing back. But overall a really nice course to play at. read more

Today was my first time at this golf course, and I am here to say that my friends and I will not be returning EVER! The management is completely awful and full of rude people. So rude that I felt compelled to leave a review.(which I never do). The management seems to think their course is a godsend and that regular customers are blessed to even be playing on it, when this couldn't be further from the truth. Let me list the issues with this course. The golf carts are filthy and out of date. The course is absolutely awful. It seems as though no one is even taking care of it. There is dead grass and dirt spots EVERYWHERE. The tee boxes had HUGE divots and barely any green at all! Crab grass and leaves run rampant over the entire course. The greens are spongey and barely playable. If you are reading this review, PLEASE take my advice and don't waste your time or money coming here. There are many different golf courses around the area that are SIGNIFICANTLY better than this one. We came here with the intentions of having a GREAT golf day with friends. Instead we are leaving full of disappointment due to the golf course and anger due to the management. I made the mistake of not reading the reviews before we came here. This was a last minute golf outing and the only reason we came here was for the open tee time. I know see why they had the open tee time during a premium time spot when every other golf course was booked. HEED MY WARNING. Played 18 holes with my son today at Bent Tree. My son was in Columbus on Business so I ventured to Bent Tree from Avon Lake, Ohio, 2 hr. drive. When I made the tee time no one told me that the greens had been top dressed. Why they would do that in August when the playing season for Ohio is still in full swing. Needless to say they rolled terrible! The fringe around the green was long and not cut. Sand traps were not raked at all. Why I was inclined to leave a poor review is because I paid $120.00 for two with cart and range balls. By the way, the range is in awful shape as well. Dollars versus quality and condition, this course is certainly one of the best in central Ohio. Particularly love the fact that playing from standard man tees back to championship is almost like playing a completely different course. Many challenges that will engage the most experienced player while at the same time forgiving fairways for novice or beginner players. The course only takes teetimes one week in advance and if you're hoping to play Saturday or Sunday you need to be on the phone or the website Saturday or Sunday the week prior if you want to teatime because of its great demand. read more

What a terrible experience at this course. Pro sends a group out mid round to start on hole 6 (in front of us) when we had open holes behind us. When asked for an explanation from the Pro, he said "that he had to maximize the play on his course". There are much better options in Columbus. read more

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet. I think I have been apprehensive about giving away the best kept secret in golf in the greater Columbus area. The clubhouse is not that nice, but everything else rocks. The electric carts are newer and really fast. The course is maintained very well and is always less crowded than any Columbus public course, usually with half the traffic or less. Yet, the price is always the same (or better) than either the Airport course or Raymond. I played a round monday afternoon with the old man. He was shocked at how nice the course was and how few people were there seeing how our rounds were only $27 each. Not a terribly long course, Bent Tree makes up for it with some narrow fairways that incorporate all sorts of fun obstacles in the landing zones (layered bunkers and/or water coupled with a pinched fairway on the other side seems to be a reoccurring theme). The par 5's are not that long, either, but usually make up for it with a very guarded green that incorporates some sort of water on the approach shot, just to give you a little something to think about if you are considering trying to get there in 2. The overall condition of the course is unparalleled in the world of cheap public golf. Fairways are pristine - greens are lush yet firm - rough is thick and evenly trimmed. On the back 9 there are some holes that incorporate a thick heather if you go too far off the fairway, which I found VERY similar to the nasty heather of New Albany Links. For about 1/3 of the price, I'd much rather hack my way out of the heather of Bent Tree. read more

This course has been in our regular rota for the big annual outing I organize (4 courses in 3 days near Delaware, OH) so we play here every other or every third year. In the past this has been a pretty good track but we won't be back unless I hear about some serious improvements in maintenance. The tee boxes were hacked up and full of crabgrass, the fairways were horrendous -- lots of divots, crabgrass and burned out areas, the greens were spongy but actually pretty good. Quite a disappointment -- this used to be a nice place but it seems that they are no longer putting any money into the place. There are also hundreds of dead ash trees (thanks, Emerald Ash Borer!) all around this place that they need to take down for a) aesthetics and b) safety, as they will come down at some point on their own. There are way too many well maintained golf courses around here (Delaware GC, RAL, Blackhawk, Glenross, etc.) to bother with this place in the future...it is out of the rotation. read more

I paid 28 dollars for "unlimited golf". 3.5 hours and 9 holes later I'm thinking they oversold what they can actually handle on their course. I checked with the staff and they had no solution, the people that manage this course just have no idea what they're doing but are happy to charge a premium price. The course itself is average at best. Sand traps were not maintained, trampled in fact with no raking afterwards. The fairway does not drain well at all after a rain, you may as well be hitting off a wet sponge in the fairway. Divots galore. Thistle weed everywhere. Beer is 20 dollars for a 6 pack (a 400% price hike). They're out to make a buck and they're doing a great job. This place is a ripoff. Why golf here and pay so much with so many better, less expensive courses in the area? I will not return. read more

This is a great course and fairly easy so I would recommend it to beginning golfers. The only issues that keep it from a 5 star is that it plays kind of slow due to some holes having you tee off go down to the green and come all the way back to get to the next tee box. The only other small thing is that a few holes the greens have some burned out areas. Other than those small things this is a great course. read more

I love this course! Great golf and a private like setting. Good value too, one of my favorite in Central Ohio.

Just played in a tournament there and it is not in great shape like I heard it used to be. I did like the layout. That is not why I am giving it only two stars. The management was very bad. Our practice round was the day before and they had an outing in the morning. Our tee time was at 12:45 so we got to the tee (and practice green) at about 12:35. We notice a group in front of us waiting and asked why since there was no one on the hole and had not been for a while. They, and the starter, said the outing was not finished coming through. We ended up not teeing off till 1:30. Why didnt the marshal make them play faster earlier. They were so far behind. Then during the tournament they started to make announcements about another outing. And while some of the players in the tournament were still finishing, they sent the outing off and they just plowed though our tournament. Could they have waited till it was done? Or have them not go backwards on the hole of the tournament? It was a joke and horrible management of the course and outings. read more
