I took a good amount of time looking at every corner, because there is a lot of cute stuff. Sandra herself is super nice and helpful! It was my first day in Fairbanks, and I just hopped in to look at all the rings (constant search for spoon rings). She helped me out by letting me know about the area and all the interesting places to shop/eat, as well as good places to view the lights. She even drew me some directions and printed out locations of GPS coordinates! On top of that, I got a lot of cool Alaskan gifts and badass ring (that actually fits my tiny fingers!). They should probably stop selling bedding plants and flowers. They don't seem to have the staffing to water the plants ( a demanding eight hour job). My wife bought two nice fuchsia baskets for $40. We went back to get more, most of them were dead, still marked at the full price. A few might have been worth risking at five dollars but not at half price. All of the plants against the building across the drive-by from the area in the parking lot where the rest of the plants are were unwatered. They also don't seem to have the staffing. They frequently don't have the Garden center customer door open and the register staffed. That means that if you're just there to buy plants, you have to pick the plants up and carry them quite a ways into the store and then back out after you purchased them. Pro Tips: If you are renting a car at the airport or driving out to spots like Chena Hot Springs or North Pole, making a pit stop at this gas station first is one of the smartest ways to avoid the inflated fuel prices found closer to the rental counters. Also, the liquor situation: If you are looking to stock up on any beer or wine, keep in mind that due to local Alaskan regulations, the alcohol section is a separate liquor enclosure right by the entrance rather than being integrated into the main floor aisles.

The food selection is great…read more The Tire Department is not great. Dropped off a tire we bought for replacement under the warranty. Was promised a week. Week goes by, still nothing. It is one tire mind you. Just one tire. Then get told shipment came in and it will be a week yet again. No tire, theyre still going through the supply. Visit them in person get told I will hear back later today, or tomorrow. No call. I call them back and get told it will be a 20 minute wait until I hear back. About 45 minutes later I get a call back, and I try to reach out with no luck. I still have not heard back and it is now a month. The roads are getting icy and dangerous to drive on with a spare doughnut tire. Still waiting on ONE TIRE.

Glad we stopped, nice selection of comics and easy to look as it is organized pretty well. The store also has gaming supplies and what looked like a gaming room. Each section seems to have its own Rep (subject matter expert), the young lady I spoke to in the comic section was super friendly and knowledgeable. She helped me find (2) books that I have been looking for and at a reasonable price. Came to Alaska and was able to end a long hunt successfully.

I go three times a week at minimum for minis and to ask about new board games and video games. Spent hundreds if not thousands from them on just my table top gaming supplies. All of the employees up front are amazing people and really are super helpful. However, the issue is the magic the gathering section in the back. I've been playing magic since the mid 90s and even took in the role of 2nd level judge for a few years in North Carolina. I admit I don't play that much anymore and have all but sold most of my collection. That being said i go in and browse the singles and routinely pick up a card or two my son (15 and just getting started playing) wants for his commander deck. Buying magic cards should be a fun an exciting experience. Opening packs, getting a card you want, or just browsing the stores inventory to see the expensive cards. All this leads me to the employee that is back there most of the time speaking down to magic players. I've heard him downplay and practically degrade multiple people over what they are talking about or a question they ask him. I've seen players looking at a 2-300 dollar card and ask him a question about it where he gives them that elitist attitude he has and that customer walks. It's terrible to see and the whole vibe back there is completely different than the rest of the store. As a store that caters to the local magic crowd you should be trying to get repeat customers, especially when its too easy to just buy online. I fully support my local gaming store, as I been waiting patiently on them to get some Heroquest and hopefully Heroscape game systems in the future, and have been a solid customer for the past five years. I unfortunately can't see myself going to the magic counter anymore to listen to an employee bad mouth customers like that. I will be taking my business for magic related items to another local gaming store and I'll be recommending other players to go there as well. Its a smaller store (for now atleast) but they are upgrading and most of the community i play commander with, 10-15 other players, have all agreed that we won't be going to the comic shop for magic cards anymore.

For those of you unfamiliar with Fred Meyer, the set up is similar to Wal Mart in which you have your grocery side and then the side that sells items you would expect to find in a department store (clothes, books, outdoor sporting equipment, kitchen wares, etc). But I prefer shopping at Fred Meyer and think the atmosphere is just different from Wal Mart. Anyways, my husband and I ended up shopping at this particular location twice while staying in Fairbanks, to stock up on groceries. Fred Meyer is part of the Kroger family and so if you have a loyalty card with this market chain, you can provide the phone number you used to sign up for that, at check out to get additional savings. Convenient location with plenty of parking. The store was clean and I appreciated the disinfectant wipes inside, by the front entrance so that I could wipe my cart down. If I was a local, I would shop here regularly.
