I don't know why, but I really like shopping at Fred Meyer and will shop at one if there is one in the city I am visiting. For those of you unfamiliar with Fred Meyer, the set up is similar to Wal Mart in which you have your grocery side and then the side that sells items you would expect to find in a department store (clothes, books, outdoor sporting equipment, kitchen wares, etc). But I prefer shopping at Fred Meyer and think the atmosphere is just different from Wal Mart. Anyways, my husband and I ended up shopping at this particular location twice while staying in Fairbanks, to stock up on groceries. Fred Meyer is part of the Kroger family and so if you have a loyalty card with this market chain, you can provide the phone number you used to sign up for that, at check out to get additional savings. Convenient location with plenty of parking. The store was clean and I appreciated the disinfectant wipes inside, by the front entrance so that I could wipe my cart down. If I was a local, I would shop here regularly. read more

I have shopped at Fred Meyers another name for Kroger, here in Fairbanks for at least 40 years, ever since they opened their doors here. I recently bought Lasagna Enriched Macaroni to make Lasagna which I have made off and on for at least 70 years. Lasagna noodles are supposed to be about 10 inches by 2.5 inches. The package I bought at Fred Meyers with a Kroger name on it looked OK at first. Sort of broken and not like I expected. I boiled it up and it turned into strips like spegetti noodles. I went ahead and used them and the pan is in the oven. But I never in my entire 70 years, note I am 86, have I ever seen such a poor excuse for lasagna noodles. I will never shop at Fred Meyers, Kroger, again. Safeway and Walmart here I come. Shame on Kroger for letting their quality and reputation get so low. Are they so poor that they can't produce a decent lasagna noodle? read more

this review is for the Fred Meyer Jewelers department at Fred Meyer East in Fairbanks, AK. My mother purchased a ring guard from Fred Meyer East and paid to have her 45-yr wedding ring soldered to the ring guard and all three sized. It was done incorrectly the first time after a month of waiting (ring guard attached but wedding ring not sized up as it was meant to be). Sent back, after another month of waiting, ring still not enlarged, appears to have been ground away from the inside of the wedding ring instead to try and make it the correct size, making shank thin and leaving a sharp area under the setting. Ring now is in need of a repair. Discussed with Gabriella, manager at Fred Meyer Jewelers East Fairbanks and were told the only compensation would be for them to send it out to another jeweler they use to have it done correctly. Informed her that we no longer entrust the ring to their care as my mother's 45-yr old wedding ring is now damaged and missing material, we would instead like them to pay for repairs at a local jeweler of our choice. Showed her the quote we received of $1,500 to have the repairs completed correctly. She refused and indicated that she did not believe the quote should be that high (even though we got more than one quote that confirmed this cost). Asked her that if they will not pay for repairs, could they at the very least give a refund for the $315 we paid for the horrible work that was done, she also refused. She told us to contact her regional manager instead to seek conflict resolution. I am horribly disappointed in Fred Meyer Jewelers East. This is not how you treat your local community. While the workers there did not directly cause the harm and some even tried to be helpful, the person they send to for the work did cause the damage. It was entrusted to their care. You do not take an irreplaceable heirloom and damage it (in a way which can never be completely repaired, we have been told by local jewelers), then refuse to help pay for the only acceptable solution. Ive been shopping at Freds for over 40 years. Recently the food quality has taken a swan t dive. The produce is eather over ripe or not ripe. The bread that Freds bakes is terrible to say the least. I can make my own bread at home that is way better. So, I will make my own. Also, you advertise FRESH food. Thats a lie, none of your food is fresh, thats impossible! Whats important is not making a profit as much as providing healthy food and Freds is failing. read more

We do the online shopping, and multiple items are refunded for more expensive items. We bought buy one get items and we only receive one and the second is not there so we are charged full price. Then some of our items don't make it at all, but they are still on the receipt. This last time it said click on your receipt in the email, but the link just shows a blank page. read more

Fred Meyer has made shopping into a frustrating chore. I'm 69, and my husband is 75. We do not appreciate being forced to use a Fred Meyer app to get sales prices. The digital coupons and deals where you have to "buy four" of some products to get a reasonable price are not fun for us. Other people we know of our age group feel the same. I'd like to shop your ads, but I give up. I'm going to shop at Walmart instead of Fred Meyer, because it's less confusing and less ageist. No thanks for your "deals". Can't really say anything bad about this location. It is slightly smaller than the Airport Way store but not by much. Unless you go during prime time shopping hours it's relatively normal wait time for a register and crowd. I've only had a few instances where associates were either rude or unavailable to provide service other than that I prefer this location since I know where to find everything. read more

This review is for the jewelry department. Went in with the wife to get a battery replacement for her Michael Kors watch. First girl there was nice but the tall blonde lady butted in with "that'll be 25 dollars" like we couldn't afford it. We also were asking if one of the links could be fixed and again obnoxiously she said it couldn't be fixed. We left and went to the other Fred Meyer on Airport Way and they charged us 14.99 for battery replacement without us saying anything about the bad service at the previous store. We didnt even mind paying the 25 just thought it sketchy they are charging 10 dollars more. If the lady that works there reads this know this...you work at Fred Meyer jewelry department. Just because you sell fancy stuff doesnt make you fancy. read more

This store reminded me of H.E.B from back home in Texas. It's like a walmart but with clothing and a electronic section and mini furniture store inside. The vegetables and fruit are always fresh. Plus theirs a star bucks inside. read more
