Just skip the holes with the water hazards. - playground. Two playgrounds on the same side of the park. - fields. Soccer and baseball fields. - dog friendly. If you are a loose leash owner, I've seen plenty of people with dogs off leash. Lots of room away from the road. There's not tons of off leash dogs there btw if that concerns you. - picnic/gazebo spots - parking in several areas Again, it's not perfect. It can get busy like all parks, there might be people that you don't care for, and it doesn't have every single feature a park can have - but it gets the job done.

It was better shaded before they improved it with the new sports complex, but at least they did plant trees to replace the ones that were torn down. Unfortunately, it will take a while to grow big enough to provide decent shade. That said, it's still a nice walking park. You can get about a mile by walking the trail once. It starts in the parking lot, wraps around a pond and then back to the parking lot. Oreo like it!

We took our dog for a nice walk through the woods and around the nature center. The area was not busy at all, they have several covered Gazebo on site for gatherings with tables. While on our walk there we spotted a tiny little snake, squirrels and several turtles. The trees provided a nice shade from the sunny Fall day which was most welcome. We definitely will come back more often to take peaceful walks at this nature center!

From the parking lot area, we went up the hill towards the trees, away from the lake, and the trails they had there were well marked, but not particularly wide walking paths like Turkey Mountains'. If you are in the mood to feel like you are exploring nature "off the beaten path" while still being on a trail, this is a great place to do it! I will be going again!
