This store is the former Bentley's Corner Barkery on Evergreen. They've since changed their name and location, but it is still the same great service and products (toys, food, treats, wearable items) only in a larger store about a 5 minute walk from their old location. We've had a few dogs and have bought food from several different suppliers because we were always in search of the best. When we found Bentley's, we discovered a place committed to only carrying food they know to be the highest quality because they care about our pet as much as we do. One of the things they do to guarantee the food quality that sets them apart from other food suppliers and impresses me enough to earn my loyalty, is that every time they get a shipment of food, they check all the ingredients to make sure the supplier hasn't substituted ingredients to make a better profit at the expense of degrading the quality of the food. Bentleys has everything you could want for your pup, my favorite thing they offer are birthday treats! They have a pretty large selection of baked treats, some are even festive. I saw gingerbread men, Christmas and Jewish holiday treats. Sometimes at the office we have a little fun and celebrate dog birthdays. The last time I came I picked up a pretty big peanut butter dog cake, we sang happy birthday and our pup ate his cake. he wasnt crazy about it like I had hoped, I dont really think he was into peanut butter. This year knowing that he didnt really care for peanut butter I came back and picked up a birthday bone shaped treat. I'm so excited to give him his treat! I have brought my puppy Henry in several times and he gets all the attention he could possibly want. I have found the best treats (for fun and for training) here. They sell tons of healthy pet food options (I'm a big fan of the better quality dog food. I switched my previous dog's food and his regular ear infections disappeared immediately). My dog is my baby. So I love going to a place that knows my dog is my baby. Petco and Petsmart are OK, but they are not going to love your dog as much as you do. Trust me, Bentley's will. "Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!" - Dr. Peter Venkman This place. They got all that. Okay, I didn't witness any human sacrifice, per se, but I'd be willing to bet 90% of the owners and shop-keeps here would gladly throw themselves in front of a bus to help a furred friend, so I'm gonna count that. Right when I walked in I knew this place was a total 5-star. They're doing a beer-drive (like instead of raising money, they're collecting donations of beer) for an event a local animal shelter that I've actually had my eyes on for a while that helps elderly and abused animals find their forever home is throwing this month. I could spend hours on their site and while the stories are sometimes heartbreaking, it's really nice to see that this foundation (Young at Heart pet rescue - http://yahpetrescue.com/) exists. Their selection of food, toys and baked treats was on point. So on point that I bought a bunch of dog bagels and biscotti from the bakery and I don't even have a dog! ... but I do have many friends with dogs so I happy to be able to support this store and gift some tasty goods to a pup named Riley. I was also impressed with their selection of cat products, of which I do have a mild need for... not that my little dudes need any more toys or treats, but I like to spoil them every once in a while even though they aren't always the best behaved. They carry the best cat tree (locally made from local wood) that I already have two of, but they had a design that I'd never seen before and it was tempting to drop another small fortune on another tree, but I worried that my loving roomie who also happens to be allergic to cats, might kick my ass out if I came home with another giant cat tree. They carry my guys' favorite brand of cat nip products (Yeowza) as well as some locally-made dried fish good that I got thinking they love - but they weren't too sure. One of my boys ate it, one just sniffed his, and the other snapped the heads off, which I found laying around my apartment in various spots while searching the floor for a fumbled earring. So now there's actual smelt fish heads all over my place, but they were nominally priced and I think I can train them to eat the rest properly so as to avoid the heads all over in the future. I picked up a few toys, too, in addition to the Yeowza brand catnip banana that my guys totally freak for. One of the toys was called 'Shelby the long-tailed hemp mouse', and they pretty much fought over who got to 'kill' it first. It was super cute... you know, as far as killing machines go. In the end, I had one hell of an experience and I was downright shocked with how affordable everything was. "Meow, meow, meow", while nudging the bag, is all I hear from her. She sure doesn't do that when I feed her Purina. Nothing against Purina, which we still purchase, but now that she's tasted the good stuff, she has a deeper appreciation for food, like myself. ;) That, or she's just really hungry. At Bentley's they also have...wait for it...a bakery case filled with all kinds of treats for your pet! If you don't have a pet, it's a good spot to snag something for a friend's feline. I visit Mt. Prospect every month from NYC, and while it's nice to have easy access to the same dog food brands my local New York holistic pet store sells, I am always blown away by Bentley's mark up. Their PRIMAL RAW for dogs is at least $5 more per bag than in New York. Pretty crazy. Likely I will have to start subscribing to Farmer's Dog instead. I just can't afford to shop at Bentley's. Also Pet Smart sells INSTINCT raw and it's more convenient. Plus I wouldn't say the customer service is all that great. At all. read more

Bentley's is everything that a small business should be. Their facilities are always immaculate and clean; never smells like pups! They have expanded their brand into multiple stores which can often be the downfall of a business. This is definitely NOT the case here! You can tell each store is given the time and attention it deserves and held to high standards. The owners are truly amazing animal lovers who have dedicated their lives to providing the highest quality of pet food and supplies to their community. The staff at each store is knowledgeable and friendly, often remembering personal facts about customers (both 2 and 4 legged!). I am a veterinary technician at a local clinic, and refer all of my clients to their local Bentley's for their pet supply needs. They have a huge selection of quality pet food from trustworthy suppliers so I never worry about where the food is coming from. The Bentley's reward program is great too, where you spend XX dollars, you will get a certain amount off on your next purchse. At home, one of my pups is a lil Nekkid Chinese Crested and they have a wonderful selection of high quality clothing to keep her protected from the elements when she needs to be. This is our new place for all things dogs. We just moved to Arlington Heights, and Bentley's seems to be the upscale place for your pets. If your pet is more family than animal, then you probably prefer to feed them the best you can. We give our pets Raw frozen food, which they typically don't have at lower end pet stores. Anyway, the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is for 2 reasons: 1). I feel the prices are a little inflated here. I've been to other "High End" pet stores that have better prices. 2). They aren't the friendliest people here. I don't feel they really great you when you walk in, and not extremely helpful when you ask questions. read more

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and they often let you (well... your pet!) sample treats to see if your pet will be a fan. Bentley's sells products that are better quality than what you find at the supermarket or general pet stores. Plus you'll find a little whimsy, like cat scratching posts that look like love-seats. "The world's best cat litter" brand is truly that. Try this litter if you never have! You won't go back to normal litter. It lasts long, clumps well, is flush-able, and is good for the environment. My cat also eats the Before Grain products (animals never ate bread, so why should they now???). It might take your cat a little adjustment, but my cat likes it best now. They just expanded the store into the building next door, so my guess is they will be adding even more great products. Keep your pet healthy and shop at Bentley's! read more

I went there for to get a gift for a business event and found myself looking around. Why? I have no idea. I don't have any pets. I'm allergic to 99% but this place made me want to get one. The staff is great. They sent me home with cupcakes, just because! I work at a large apartment complex and the residents rave about this location. I even had one resident tell me she can't go on walks downtown Arlington Heights because her dog will walk right to this store. Parking could be better but forget the car. Take a walk! read more

We love this place. Over the last few years we have developed so much trust in Lisa and Geo, that we would do anything to avoid buying our dog food anywhere else. At first, we were just popping in for some dog treats. Then the crap from China hit the news, and we talked to Lisa and Geo about the dog food they carry, and their efforts to keep a close eye on where the ingredients are sourced. So now, this is where we buy our dog food every week. We like to get a 5 or 6 pound bag, and change food every week or two. Our dogs like the change. The regular tradition of coming here each weekend, and seeing the anticipation in the dogs as we approach the front door is part of the magic of this place. After years of shopping at Bentley's in Arlington Heights, Schaumburg, Long Grove, and Libertyville, I am so thrilled to finally say there's a store in Crystal Lake, and it is just as wonderful as the other stores in our favorite pet store line! Lisa and Giovanni have always treated both human and canine customers with great warmth and respect, and they've passed that along to all the workers in their employ. I can always count on my Maltese, Minnie, getting showered with attention, treats, and love, no matter which Bentley's we shop. She especially loves shopping the "chewies," aka bully sticks, pizzles, moo taffy, etc., and I love that they actually keep her occupied for more than a few minutes! The Crystal Lake store has treat carts that resemble old-fashioned wooden produce carts, and they're adorable! We were bouncing back and forth between the one that contained bully sticks and the one that featured Whimzees, so there might have even been a third cart. I can't remember because we stocked up on a bunch of items from the other two before investigating other areas of the store. We also bought some new canned food to try, which is never a concern for me because Lisa and Giovanni take great pride in selecting food and treats that are healthy and high-quality and good for our best friends' digestion. They've also given us mini sample bags of dry food to try (my Maltese eats both wet and dry) so we can see if she likes it before we buy a larger bag. It's a huge relief to shop somewhere that treats animals with such genuine care. And of course, the thing that first drew us to Bentley's back in Arlington Heights was the doggie bakery case! Doggie cookies, donuts, birthday cakes, cannolis ... we've tried most if not all of them, and they're just as much fun for me to purchase as they are for Minnie to eat. I could ramble on for days about what a great pet store Bentley's is, but the best thing I can tell you is to just head on in and experience it for yourself. I happened upon this magnificent store when I was visiting a friend who lives in Arlington Heights. Now I make special trips from the city just to come here. They are SO nice, but what's more is that they are SO knowledgeable. My doggy has a sensitive stomach and they've been great at helping me find a better food than the prescription dog food she's on. They have helped me find treats for her and have explained what may set off her stomach. What I find amazing is that they say the same thing as my vet, so I know they're trying to help, not just trying to sell product. They have great things for kitties too and helped me switch my extremely finicky kitty from Greenies treats to chicken bites. I thought kitty loved Greenies, but it's NOTHING compared to these chicken bites. Now I feel so much better because kitty is eating natural, good stuff. I also love that they don't sell stuff from China. After all the news about dogs getting sick from chicken treats from China, I'm really happy I don't have to worry about doggy's treats. What an adorable pet shop! Don't get lost in the "bakery" element. Yes, they have a great variety of fresh baked goods for your furbaby but they also have toys, food, clothes, and much much more. Pretty much most things you need for your pet! They have the high end stuff (merrick, fromm, stella & chewy, etc) for reasonable prices! They offer frequent shopper perks plus additional perks for food purchases. I live in the city but work out here a few times a week. I am very pleased with this place. They have a great return policy on their goods which I find to be priceless when it comes to my diva morkie! I refuse to buy dog food products that are made in China, and really try to avoid any food that's not US made, so it's great to be able to come to a local store and buy treats that were made there or by a local company. They also have some non-smelly bully sticks, which I didn't know existed, and they're awesome because normal bully sticks smell awful. The fresh bakery section is adorable, and I picked up some treats as well as a dog cookie that says "Happy Birthday" on it, since my furry baby's birthday is coming up. They also have doggie cupcakes that i'd like to try. Service is exceptional, the owners/employees are so nice and genuine. The feel of the place is very down to earth; I always kind of thought paw naturals in the city was kind of snotty and wayyyyyyy overpriced. This place is great and prices are reasonable! Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Clean store. Lots of choices. I've only taken my 2 girls in once (they are small but devious and it feels a bit small to have them running around along side me). I like that there are healthy treats here, and baked goods. Both of my girls have heart issues - so they get only the best! The staff is great about treat samples to take home, and very helpful at picking out new things to try. The parking lot is kinda small and behind the store, and a little worn - most of the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. Its not the worst I've seen though.
