I have not used grooming services here so I can only comment on my purchases. The staff here is always extremely knowledgeable and helpful in answering questions and there's an impressive supply of toys, food, treats and more. A little pricier to shop here than other pet places in the surrounding area, but worth it for the unique products and services. Our dogs love the "potato gater" treats here. And the heavier duty toys here last longer than other toys we've purchased. I love bringing my dogs in here. A lot for them to see and smell. Nearby Home Goods is pet friendly too and has lower priced pet goods. Kriser's is in a great location here at the Arboretum and it's a nice shopping center to walk your dog around. read more

Let me clarify-- if I was a millionaire, I'd give 5. 10 stars for selection (the most fun and unique toys out there) 1 star for prices (extreme mark-up; I get it -- boutique trying to survive) Cans of dog food are $3-4 (compare that to 75C/can at Costco for same quality organic food), toys are upwards of $20, etc. If you handed me a $500 gift card, I'd come spend it the same night. It's a great shop with awesome goods, just not for my budget. I couldn't resist buying a "joy stick" for my pup, though; it's a 4-ft piece of rawhide :D he snapped it in two trying to walk through a doorway at home, then devoured it in minutes. read more

They consistently have my cat's food in stock (if he doesn't eat Innova Evo, he farts like a 400-pound truck driver after a rest stop chili dog...only more rancid smelling), and have unique pet toys that my cat actually appears to enjoy playing with. I currently have three knit catnip monkeys shredded to pieces, & need to make a trip out to Kriser's soon to replenish the toys. We're good on food, though, so the farting is under control. I moved to the area at the beginning of the summer, and hoped I'd find a pet supply store that I love as much as In my previous city. I've gone from the chain commercial stores to different smaller independents, and finally came across Kriser's. It's a chain store but much smaller, with a handful of stores around the U.S. Kriser's has that independent feel, with great quality products for dogs. I'm a crazy dog mom, with a high maintenance dachshund that has allergies and epilepsy. Oh, and a spoiled, naughty attitude. Kriser's carries the specific dog food I need, in the size bag I want. They also have some of the nicest staff I've ever encountered. I recently went to a socialization class that the store manager gave, and it was highly informative along with just a great atmosphere. The store manager is awesome, answers all my crazy questions and listens to me babble on. I'm really glad stores like this with great product and great staff exists. read more

I have a senior Shih Tzu who is very 'warty'. My former groomer cut the warts, and she came home bleeding. TOTALLY unacceptable to me - so I tried Wendy at Krisers. I buy the food there, so thought I'd try it. Wendy can groom my kids ANY TIME. She is very soft spoken, which is perfect for my 14 year old who is anxious anyway. She & her brother came home with the cutest cuts ever. The Sr didn't have a speck of blood on her, and looked cuter that cute. Only reason not 5 stars is I thought they were a little pricey. But, honestly, I will pay it again, as they take care of my old girl, and her little brother. read more

This location is close by my workplace and I've been here a few times to pick up items for my beloved cat friend. However, I am absolutely done coming here. I have received awful customer service from two separate employees on multiple occasions. One time, a lady (who owns more cats than I can fathom) dropped off a HUGE basket of cat food off at the cash register and asked the employee to hold it while she ran off to fill her other 2 baskets. The employee started ringing out that lady (while scanning each can of cat food individually), ignoring me while I stood in like trying to pay her for the cat toy I had selected. Seriously?! Only after 7 minutes of me standing there with 100 cat lady no longer in sight did she reluctantly agree to check me out. I had a similar experience last week when Siobhan attended to a customer who just walked in when I was standing at the cash register to pay. I understand helping other customers, but it was pretty rude to be completely ignored for 10 minutes while the minutiae of low fat dog food was discussed while ignoring us completely. How hard would it have been to point the customer in the right direction and say, "Let me ring these folks out. I'll be back in a minute to answer any questions you might have." Seriously! Many times they have been out of the cat food I need because "a lady comes in and buys 60 cans every Monday." Seriously?! It seems like you could easily order more than 60 cans then so there is something on your shelves for the rest of us! NEVER GOING BACK! read more

Just to clarify, I am in Streamwood, IL, not San Francisco. Krisers is the best place around for good quality pet food, and everyone there is friendly and helpful. So as a new dog owner I had 100,000 questions, then add that he's a Frenchie susceptible to allergies etc and that added about another 10,000 questions. A friend of mine who shops here highly recommended I stop in. On my trip in I dealt with a lady named Violet. I can not begin to express how informative she was and her overall knowledge of basically the entire store was flooring. I probably apologized a 100times for having so many questions but she always had a smile on her face and expressed how she genuinely enjoyed helping people. I left there feeling really good and with a bag of food, treats, and more toys then he really needed but I liked. She has officially become my point of contact if Im in frantic dog dad mode. I have been into the store a few additional times after this original trip and can say that the level of service has not changed. There is one other young lady there as well (Im sorry I can't recall her name at the moment) that will help me when I go in who is also very kind and sweet. I have 3 cats with individual food needs (kill me now, I know!). Everyone was throwing up on Fancy Feast from the big box stores and I found Kriser's. They're a bit pricey, but no food gets left behind and there are very few flavors that go uneaten. I think animals can tell the difference between quality and crap food. Reps there are so friendly and knowledgable...even if they don't own a cat! There's usually a guest dog behind the counter and it's a nice shop with a variety of pet supplies. We tried going raw...no success, but not for lack of trying...Kriser's has a very large selection of frozen raw for dogs and cats. One word of advice; don't go during rush hours...it;s right next door to a gym and there's never any parking...and I mean it's a haul of a walk to the door from the back of the lot! read more

I never ever write Yelp reviews but I had THE BEST experience at this store. Cindy (the dog groomer), you just got a client for life. I was just searching on a Sunday to find a local dog groomer in the city and everyone was booked but her so I drove out to Barrington. I just moved to Chicago from St. Louis and I cannot tell you how awesome my dog came out. I get him groomed every month and it was jaw-dropping to me how awesome Rocky looked and felt after Cindy was done with him. She is knowledgeable, has a great attitude and is someone you feel completely comfortable with leaving your member of the family! I have a retriever/setter/shepherd mix with long hair, somewhat wiry coat with skin allergies. He was groomed almost a week ago and feels the same with a nice smooth coat and has stopped itching! This is a nice "boutique" kind of store specifically geared to the HEALTHY pet. You will not find kibbles 'n' bits, or Iams, or the self-proclaimed "good" food (loaded with fillers and by-products) here, you will find truly healthy foods for your 4 legged friends. The employees strive to learn the pros and cons of each food they carry and can make recommendations for your animal's needs. If your dog has a kidney problem or a skin condition or an allergy, they can tell you EXACTLY what food will help that problem. They genuinely care about you and your pet. They also carry an extensive line of treats, toys, jackets and sweaters, and training aids. Grooming is also available. Last but nut least, they fully support the efforts of the Humane Society's campaign to STOP PUPPY MILLS and will not recommend a pet store that sells cats or dogs. Kudos to Krisers for caring and being there to actually HELP animal lovers select the best foods! read more

I heard a lot about Krisers and finally stopped in to pick up some cat food. The store is adorable, clean, and well-stocked. There are a lot of bad pet foods but you can feel comfortable with whatever food you buy from here because they only sell the high quality brands. I also love that they have a reward program with Orijen food. They also sell Rad Cat which is amazing and rare to find in stores. read more

I've been here several times and had a great experience each time. Erin was a huge help every time I came in. I needed a new dog and cat food, but didn't know exactly what I needed and she helped me find that quickly. I tried one type of cat food first, but my cat wasn't a fan so I was able to return that bag of food for a full refund, even though some of it was gone and we found a new food my cat loves. I'll definitely be back here for pet food and treats and plan to try out some of the free classes soon! read more

The staff who was there was a very nice man and very knowledgable. You could tell they have a love for pets. I saw this place while nearby and thought perfect I can get some healthy stuff for my pup. I don't know if i picked the wrong stuff or what but my pup did NOT like the treats I got. Which were not cheap. I'm sticking to the whole foods brand which my mutt enjoys. I may consider some non food items which staff member showed me but even though they were not cheap my pup is worth it if the products work as good as the staff described. read more

The sales associate were friendly and very helpful. Violet offered me a sample of Bonito Flakes for my three cats to try. She explained that not only were they tasty treats but that you could sprinkle it on top of food they had turned their noses up at. It worked...they gobbled down the Bonito Flake topped canned food! Die hard forever fan right here!! I started going there for dog food when they first opened. I moved several miles away and would make the drive just because they are the best. Since moving close by again, I am still just as loyal. Not only are the products they carry amazing but the staff will wow you back for more. They are knowledgeable about the top of the line products they carry. They hold some incredible events. Most of all, they take excellent care of me and my dog. I refuse to go anywhere else. I had started to bring my boys here a few months ago for grooming. Neither needs much, just nail trims and we like to occasionally get them bathed. The groomer we dealt with up until our last visit was great. She was very understanding of my younger one's "screaming" issues and did not make my older one nervous at all. On our first visit, I had splurged for all the bells and whistles, but I felt the teeth cleaning did little for them and since they Don't need haircuts and have skin issues, I usually bathe them at home myself if it is needed. However, I liked the woman and so did my boys so we not only kept going, but we made the baths a more regular splurge. The last time I went, my husband dropped them off while I went to browse around home goods. He asked for the nails to be done and a bath. We had some family things coming up so I wanted them to smell nice and also looked forward to a fashionable bandanna to show off. When we were called and told it would be 15 minutes, we just walked right over and figured we could browse a bit. I headed to the back and saw the groomer on her phone not paying attention to my boys. The dogs noticed me and started barking immediately. She did not react or bother to look up. I found it frustrating, but decided to let it go. While my husband was paying other customers walked in. He had walked over to me right as the groomer came toward the front and we both watched as she tried to hand off my boys to another couple. The other people jokingly said they would take them, but I was a bit put off. The couple looked nothing like us plus there was at least a 20-30 year age difference. The groomer didn't bother to apologize or offer explanation as to why she was trying to give away my skittish dogs, she just turned to hand them to us when we pointed out the mistake. She then tried to claim that everything went well and that they were good. I'd like to believe that, but my dogs are neurotic and there is absolutely zero chance they were actually truly good. They are not dangerous, but they are skittish and nervous, especially with strangers and particularly when I am not around. They get loud and they shake and become dependent on each other when stressed. So, she is surely lying and now I am far more upset and just want to leave. We sort of rushed out at this point and went to put the boys in the car to head home. At that point, I realized they did not even have bandannas. They also barely smelled bathed. I know the bandanna is a silly thing to be upset about and if was the only issue, I wouldn't have cared as much, but I paid $40 a head for my tiny things to be cleaned and prettied up, the $1 of fabric seems like a small thing to ask for. To make matters worse, in the short time that has passed since this experience, my one dog has had mats and knots show up practically every day in the long hair behind his ears. In the entire 2 years I have had him he has never had so many issues as he has had in the two weeks since seeing this new groomer. Needless to say, I will not return unless I know for sure this groomer is gone. She was not very personable to the humans or the canines and she was clearly not very good at her job, nor did she appear to even want to be there or enjoy what she was doing. read more

Need a groomer? Their new groomer Cindy is fantastic! She is very personable and listens to your pets specific needs. Each pet gets personal attention, one on one by Cindy only. I used to use a mobile groomer for my older dog because she couldn't stay in the cages for any length of time. She has an appointment at a specific time, gets her groom and goes home. Very short time in the cages. The price is comparable to other groomers. I've been a client of Cindy's for years and would drive hours to take my pets to her. read more

I saw an advertisement for Kriser's come up on my Facebook. As a pet parent I am always looking for fun places to take my dog. I decided to go visit the store this last Saturday, they were doing a food event with Honest Kitchen and Open Farm. The store is very neat and clean and is well organized. The managers and sales reps were friendly, nice, and knowledgeable but were quick to brand shame. I am someone who is very conscious of my dog's health and I spend a lot of time researching and finding the best food and treats. They kept mentioning how their entire store was "the good stuff" which was one of the reasons I chose to go in in the first place. I have also purchased "the good stuff" at other retailers at way lower prices! As someone who has worked sales and customer service I was a bit disappointed in how I was treated as a pet parent, my dog on the other hand was treated like a queen and would be more than happy to go back. Another thing is the sales reps were quite pushy and fed my dog an excessive amount of treats... I counted 10+ treats being given. They kept trying to point my dog toward their products in order to convince me to buy them. I absolutely loved the store but was disappointed in the customer service I received as a person in the store. One other thing that should be noted is the stores return policy... they make it very difficult to make a return so if you aren't 100% sure of your purchase I'd recommend waiting until you are convinced you won't want to return it. read more
