Our previous adoptions have been meet and take home. We felt nervous leaving the perfect pup behind. I quickly filled out the application and waited for call to set up home visit. After not hearing back in a week, I refilled the application with more information, I sent a personal email and visited another event to talk to someone. Still no word. Then today my heart broke as I received a message that there is an instagram live event with our puppy listed, along with "he's still here". We could have given this puppy a beautiful life. Very sad if working would be the reason he's not home yet.

I am a huge advocate for adopting dogs…read more This Rescue, Underdog Railway Rescue is unique because they have you foster to adopt an approved dog for two weeks to ensure it's a good fit for both the dog and the potential pet parents. Also, all these dogs are fostered at loving homes, which also makes it easier for them to transition to your home. Karen at the rescue also does a great job matching potential pet parents with their dogs. While the first dog I looked at unfortunately was not a good fit for me, the second dog was! Karen was very patient, kind and determined to find me a better fit! With the adoption it typically includes the rabies tags, neutering, a first free vet visit at certain approved locations within the first week, all required shots and Microchip (at least for our adoption). The adoption fee was reasonable all considering too. Adoption is the only option!! Please consider this small Rescue! The name Happy Pet Place is a misnomer!…read more When we first started using them, the very curt owner left me questioning why I was using them, but we reluctantly took our 2 small dogs there for grooming, for several months. Not once did the dogs come back with the grooming I requested. Each time the dogs came home, they were both highly stressed. The last visit took 6 hrs before I was called to pick them up. When I brought my Morkie in for grooming today, I learned why her legs and feet had been very little grooming done. The owner very curtly informed me, that she was very fussy and they will not "force" a dog to be groomed.....I was stunned. The previous groomer we had been using, for over 5 ys (unfortunately the groomer retired) had no problem is grooming her legs and feet. I was told to find another groomer if I wanted her legs and feet groomed. I was also informed that I could not reschedule our second dog because there was not sufficient notice...I explained that she just became ill before I came in. Didn't matter. Obviously the warm reception finally made me finally decide that I would not let my dogs go anywhere near this "Happy Place"again. NEVER have we experienced such an unhappy, unfriendly place to do business with. I have no idea how they stay in business.

We found this rescue via a pup we saw on Petfinder. We called them the following morning and were…read moreultimately able to come see a pup (Minnie) the same day in the afternoon. The lady we spoke to was very nice to us, as well as when we arrived (both her and the other gentleman working there). The front-desk is a bit small and crowded with supplies (I think from the supply donations they receive), but we were allowed to take the pup out in the large gated yard to run around and play and get to know her a bit more. The application process was fairly straight forward. They hand-write out the paperwork so it took a little bit longer, and they only accepted cash (we had to run to our local bank during the application). They do have a 7-day return policy (if the pet doesn't work out you can return them, or exchange for another, but no refunds) from what I understood. They also gave a health voucher for one of the local vets, but we did not use it and went to our regular vet. I saw other reviews claiming the pets weren't as healthy as they said, but at least for us, when we took the pup to our Vet, she was 100% clear and healthy (including all worms and such, which is sometimes overlooked in the exams). All of her shots / spay / flea treatment dates etc. were recorded and provided to us, plus microchip info, so it was thorough. They also gave us the rest of the kibble they were feeding her, which actually lasted us about 2 months. Overall, we thought they were friendly and also showed they cared for the animals that they adopt out. I don't think they have tons of dogs and cats, but they are worth considering if you are looking to adopt!
