We love going in Beowoof provisions for pets! Karl is very knowledgeable and helpful. We got to meet his doggie Louise a couple weeks ago, what a well behaved little girl. Karls return policy is AWSOME. He says if your dogs don't like it bring it back. I've purchased a dog coat, a Halty, many treats and it's the same, if it doesn't fit or work with your dog, bring it back. it has become our weekend ritual. Lunch and then dog treats. Our dog chewed off the clips of his new harness so we came here to buy another one. They had the exact harness that we originally had from Chewy. But after speaking to the woman in the store, she suggested a different harness based on his size, built, and weight. We REALLY like this one, and she gave us the perfect size. I am glad I made a stop in this pet store! The entrance was down a flight of stairs below the sidewalk, and I was not expecting the colorful array of toys I was greeted with upon opening the door. Beowoof isn't the biggest place, but it is packed to the brim with provisions for your pets. The man at the front desk was friendly and helpful, as I expected from such a fun and colorful store. The place really had a homey, small-town, boutique-kind of feel- it was the kind of store you might find in Stars Hollow (for anyone who used to watch Gilmore Girls). I could tell they only carried quality products, and that the owners really care a lot about the store and about our animal companions. A hidden gem! I always make a stop at Beowoof before heading to my mom's house to see my sweet baby puppy (and my mom too...). The staff is always friendly and willing to help. It's a small shop, but they always ensure to give you space to peruse on your own and are not overbearing, which is really nice. There are so many unique, quality toys and treats to choose from, I always know I'll find what I'm looking for. Everything is reasonably priced and they have a lot of brands that I have only ever been able to find online before I discovered Beowoof. My little nugget loves the bully sticks and himalayan dog chews that you put in the microwave. She goes through toys like it's her job, but I have to say the ones from Beowoof always seem to last - I usually buy the ones with the mesh layer for reinforcement. Easy to miss this shop if you're not looking down, entrance is below some stairs off of Washington. The store isn't big but every single corner from top to bottom is full of pet stuff. They are small, intimate, but have everything (really packed in there), just ask the owner for help and he can pull anything out that you need. Such a cute store with a variety of supplies for your pets. I brought my French bulldog Hamlet in there and the salesman was so friendly. Hamlet got an argyle hoodie from there. The owner helped him try it on and everything. I'd say that the store is a bit pricey on some things and comparable on others, but that is to be expected at a specialty store. That being said, supporting local shops is important to me, and I love the uniqueness that they bring to the community. Another great perk is their filtered water bowl that they leave out for the pups that come in and out of the store, especially with this hot weather! Karl was super helpful! I first came in for a coat for my new havanese puppy and he had plenty of stock in her size, just ask! Ended up getting an adorable reversible coat and organic cotton toy that is now her favorite as well as a tiny greenie and a nyla bone. All great buys. Recalling how knowledgable he was, I called him a few weeks later when I was having issues with matted fur. He was able to refer me to a groomer in town and help me buy the right brush and detangler too. My fur baby is mat-free now! I love this little pet store in Hoboken. The owner has an amazing memory. Last year I popped in looking for a particular toy that is impossible to find. They had it in a bigger size then I wanted. They took my e-mail and promised a to send a message when they got it in. And then . . . I stopped in today hoping they would have it this year. When I asked the owner if he had the toy in the size I wanted he actually remembered me and my full name. He said that he tried e-mailing me over the past year and it never went through. We fixed the e-mail problem, and he said "I guess I can throw out that message now." I was ecstatic when he had the toy. My pup will be thrilled, on Christmas morning. This is a great little pet boutique. They simply have the most adorable items for your pooch. The owners are really quite wonderful, and VERY knowledgeable about everything in the store. They carry a wide array of natural and organic pet foods, for both dogs and cats. They have a large selection of harnesses, leashes, and collars. There are many different types of treats to choose from as well as pet beds and bowls. They are a bit pricey though (they wanted $75 for a crate that I found on Amazon for $33)...but it is a boutique and you are paying for convenience I suppose. I'll stop in there for small ticket items in the future, but for the expensive stuff, like crates, gates, etc. I'll shop at a larger chain, either Amazon or PetSmart. read more

I first discovered Beowoof by seeing someone at the local dog park with a shopping bag bearing their name and, being new to the neighborhood, decided to swing by and check them out. What an awesome place! The owners are incredibly pleasant and helpful. Daisy, my pup, thoroughly enjoyed the snacks they were generous enough to share. And despite my embarrassment, they didn't even mind when she coughed up on their floor! Everything was reasonably priced and they had a surprisingly large selection for a small shop. I was in need of a carrier to be able to bring Daisy to other boroughs and they did research and placed an order for me for a perfect one right while I waited. She just kept saying come back at 4 because she doesn't know much of what available sizes they have. This is a small store, but it's nice if you just need to pick up an item or two. I came here when i was having a problem with my cat...or rather, she was having a problem with her litter box. The guy in the store (owner? employee? not sure) was very very helpful. I was just planning to pick up a new litter box, but he pointed me towards some other ideas, including a great cleaner for her accidents. Beowoof is now our go-to establishment in town for toys and treats. Where I do like to go to Cornerstone, You Lucky Dog and Hoboken Pet for other things, the toys and elk antlers at Beowoof can't be beat on pricing and availability. Not to mention, the owner is such a nice guy and all of his clients seem to stick around to get the "local dog gossip" of the day. Migrating from Los Angeles to NY/NJ put me at a slight disadvantage when it came to when it came to scandering my wages on luxury pet goods...but fortunately with my best googling efforts I was able to locate this fantastic find. It is my doggie's 7th birthday and I was able to set her up in style. Organic birthday cake, a birthday girl t-shirt, a toy that plays "Happy Birthday" for two choruses, a party hat with streamers and maribu trim and a happy birthday bandana! Good Times! To offset the craziness, I did purchase her Stella dog food...which grounded me and brougt me back to reality. The owner was very kind and helpful. My dog Sandy needed a certain type of dog food that most places do not carry. I called Beowoof at 7:57pm and Carl answered the phone. He told me that they do carry this food and of course he'd stay open for me. I rushed right over and walked in about 15 minutes after the shop was scheduled to close. Carl took his time with me, asking important questions about my dog Sandy. I was amazed at the intricate service I was provided at Beowoof especially after hours. He also gave Sandy a bunch of gourmet free samples to try at home. Sandy also scored a new indestructable bone while we were there. I definitely have found my new pet store. read more

A while back I got a dog for the first time in my life and went here to get food and toys for him. I explained to the guy working here (I believe it was the owner) how I was a clueless, first-time dog owner and that I had just gotten Bonsai the day before, and asked for advice about what kind of food to get. He inquired about the breed, age and weight of Bonsai and made a couple recommendations. So far, so good. I bought some toys, enough dry and wet food for about a month and was on my way. Unfortunately, Bonsai wasn't a fan of the food we bought him. We got him to nearly finish it with extreme reluctance on his part each time we fed him, but after a couple days it was apparent we had to try a different brand. We ended up buying food from elsewhere and Bonsai inhaled it. Problem solved! I don't fault Beowoof for having or selling me food that my dog didn't like, but I sure as hell do for what happened next. 5 or 6 days after initially buying the food from Beowoof, I went back to return the unopened cans of wet food (I had no expectations of returning an opened bag of dry food). The same gentleman who sold me the food was there (again, pretty sure he's the owner). I explained what happened, showed him the receipt and asked for a refund. He said they don't do returns on food, even unopened cans. I asked why not, and he said "I can't take it back because for all I know it's been subjected to the elements, such as in a hot car in the sun." I pointed out that, per the receipt, it had been less than a week since I bought it, and assured him that it was in a kitchen cupboard the whole time (never mind that this was during a period when it didn't exceed 60 degrees). He even said that he remembered me, but still said he couldn't sell it "in good conscience." He then said that if I wish, I could *give* it back to him and he would donate it. Where was this "good conscience" of his when he sold me a month's supply of food, knowing at the time that I was completely new at this, that there was a possibility my dog wouldn't like the food, and knowing, all the while, that he had a "no return" policy (for which there was, and currently is, no sign anywhere in the store)? And if he was so concerned about the possibility of the food no longer being any good, why would his good conscience allow any dog to eat it after it had been donated? I wanted to make sure Bonsai ate well so I opted for what the guy said was the best (which happened to be the most expensive, of course). All in total it was almost $40 worth of wet food that I had to take a loss on (I ended up donating it, but not through this guy). In hindsight, I shouldn't have purchased so much without knowing whether Bonsai would eat it, but as a first-time dog owner I hadn't considered that possibility. Being in the business he's in, this guy was absolutely aware of that possibility. Had he not been a douche about refusing to accept perfectly good food, or at the very least simply advised me to just get a couple day's worth when I was buying it, this review would never have been written. read more
