I've since moved out of the area, but was back in town scoping neighborhoods for when I return to ATL. I decided to stop at the Blast Buckhead location for old time's sake. Unfortunately, my experience didn't live up to my memories. The class that I attended was a 5 min block class which I never cared for in the past and didn't care for this time bc there's not enough time to work up a good sweat at each station before transitioning since the clock keeps running during transitions. This location also has zero COVID safety protocols: because of the constant switching, there is no time to wipe off the shared equipment and wipes aren't even provided on the floor. My biggest gripe, though, was the instructor and his music. I enjoy boutique fitness classes and the playlists usually get me pumped for a great workout. This instructor played LOTS of pop and rock and a handful of 80s/90s R&B songs. By the time there were 20 mins left in the class I hadn't heard a single hip hop song so I asked if he would mind playing some. His response? "Umm... we have to play stuff for everybody." I responded "yes I know. I just haven't heard any [hip hop] so that's why I asked." His response rly annoyed me. I am not a fitness class newbie. OBVIOUSLY most instructors play a variety of music for "everybody" but completely excluding one genre of music doesn't seem like you're playing music for "everybody." Am I not a part of that number? Also, I've been to countless studios-- OTF, Solid Core, Barry's-- and the instructors there ALWAYS welcome requests from participants bc we are the ones working out! I don't plan on joining when I move back. Ugh what a bummer.

I arrived a few minutes early for my first class and was warmly greeted by the front desk. She checked me in and gave me a tour of the space. The restrooms and shower area was fully stocked with goodies in case you left something at home. Good to note if you are headed to work after a workout. I dropped my keys into a locker and waited for class to begin. The instructor, Denae, called me into class a little early and showed me the equipment and treadmills and how everything would flow during the workout. These treadmills go up to 30 incline, woah! Cold water bottles and towels are provided too, so amazing! Class began and we warmed up. I was already breaking a sweat and feeling good when the first block began. The class is broken into smaller blocks of floor and cardio work. After the intervals on the treadmill, it was time to swap to the floor. A super intense workout with long and short resistance bands were killer. I needed to change my band for a 'beginner' band, which the instructor noticed and assisted me so I didn't have to move from my station- Thank you! Fast forward 60 minutes and we were finished, cooling down with some stretches and lite ab work. I left feeling awesome, it was a great experience.

I'd asked one of the guests what they thought about the class and what format it was and they said they loved it. So when I went inside and started talking to the front desk staff I quickly learned that this was a mega former and treadmill class. Whaaaaaaat, how cool and how challenging. I was instantly intrigued and had to take a class. On top of that, the studio was beautiful with a whole storefront at the entrance. Here's what I loved and didn't love as much during my visit, + the studio was walkable for me and easy to get to + they have a wide range of athletic brands, including SPANX! + front desk staff and instructors were very friendly + I liked the format and flow of the class + the self paced treadmills were awesome + we received complimentary eye masks this day + I scored 2 Beyond Yoga tank tops for $25 each + enjoyed the playlist during class + loved the lighting changing with the intensity of class There wasn't anything that I didn't like about the studio or class. However there has been a significant change in overall atmosphere, "policy enforcement" and my overall excitement to book or join a class. The music is hit or miss. Most instructors are challenging but the attitudes and enthusiasm and friendliness are also inconsistent. My decision to cancel my membership is largely in part to the new manager Tania. She rudely interrupts clarifying questions and throws out inconsistent answers to questions you didn't even ask; she is overall disarmingly passively dismissive. After struggling with the parking lot, I say hello and check in on the iPad. My typical routine if I do not walk to class to avoid the parking (it is truly a nightmare because of the boutique nearby taking 1/4 of the spaces and max 30 minutes for another 1/4). As I'm about to open the door to class, Tania informs me that I will not be able to enter the classroom until the halfway mark because I'm now 2 minutes over the grace period. When I ask when this policy has been issued I was told it's always been the policy. That's not the case and she nor Courtney (sp?) the director were consistent on the established date of the policy. Always, 10years, 5 years a while. When I noted the policy that I was aware of was the possibility of allowing another person to switch between the curve or the reformer, then the policy date changed but ultimately was blamed on me for not keeping up with what was on the current website. The website policy is not explicit - may enter at the halfway mark is not the same as may not enter until. Words mean things. The policy is written to allow for selective enforcement. Regardless of the date, the policy is not enforced fairly or consistently. My last class I observed someone coming into the class well after 10 minutes but before the halfway mark. This is not unusual over the past 8+ years and most are familiar faces that quietly get to their spots and right into their workout. There seems to be some type of favoritism or other distinguishing factors that make the enforcement selective. What makes it worse, no one lets me know of the halfway mark. Sometimes classes start 1-2 minutes behind so I would have expected an indicator of when I could actually enter. Not the case- it's giving mean girl energy. Sadly the shift in staff is no longer welcoming enough to deal with the hit or miss music needed tolerate hit or miss classes. If Brittnee ever comes back (Tania couldn't even confidently tell me if she was there still), I may consider a drop in class.

The gym is nice, all the…read moretrainers have a great energy (even with the clients they aren't working with), and Adam has been great at setting the right intensity to keep making progress without pushing so hard that I feel like I might get injured and lose progress (which was important to me as I was getting back into training). After 4 weeks I lost 15 pounds and feel great. I'd definitely recommend any of the trainers at the gym to anyone looking to really improve their health and fitness. Update: I've now lost 23 lbs total in the two months I've been working with Adam. I'm extremely impressed by his commitment to helping me hit my goals and the willingness of the entire team to provide thoughtful advice on issues that come up (e.g. nutrition and training questions) as I make progress. I'd give more than 5 stars if I could. Final Update: I ended up losing about 30 lbs in my first 3 months at the gym (I'm still training there). It's been a great experience and I'd recommend it as the best place to go if you are very serious about getting in better shape (specifically to improve body composition).

While the gym is pretty decent for the most part: lots of machines, spread-out, saunas, lockers, etc...much of the place looked kind of rundown. So many areas were undergoing construction. In the gym AND the locker rooms. It looks like a really nice gym upon first glance, but it's fairly rundown inside. I arrived close to 6, and then close to 7, a worker tapped my shoulder and told me they close at 7. Upon arriving for the first time, this same worker didn't tell me what time the club closed at all. While he did give me a tour of the place and told me about the gym, he forgot to mention the important detail that it closed at 7. Regardless, I still had a pretty good workout. If they could just do some cleanup and renovate a little quicker, I would've given this review 1-2 more stars. But until the fix the fact that this placed looks rundown and beat-up inside, it will stay 3 stars. There is plenty of parking in front of the club which is nice. It's also free. It's attached to Lenox Mall, so plenty of parking. I don't know if I would come back until renovations were complete.

The Free Weights are plentiful and you can go pretty hard here! There are 2 bathrooms to change/shower, and you can use the gym 24/7. My membership is $30 every 2 weeks ($60 Month) For unlimited use in all the gyms. Not too bad! My only con is their billing sucks. Frequent mistakes and they still don't bill on the date I signed on the contracts. It changes monthly and is usually 3-5 days prior. Not huge but definitely makes me wonder what's going on with accounting!?!?

I have been working with Rae at Pinnacle for about six months now. We have a meal plan and exercise plan that works for me. I work out twice per week and eat right. I have lost 44 pounds since June.
