Went there today. Said was looking for the perfect cinnamon roll. I was given a fresh baked refrigerator roll! Didn't eat it but was charged for it. Very rude staff. No coffee refills. Very pricey. Just under $8 for 2 cups coffee and a cinnamon bun they insisted I pay for because I had taken a bite. read more

Today I was in Berea with a friend and needed we decided we needed our caffeine fix. We looked on Yelp and saw that we were about 2 minutes from this place. The Berea Coffee & Tea Company is a really cute little Coffee shop located very near campus. It is in a little strip of buildings that contain local artisan type shops here. Kind of a perfect fit really for this charming community. As we walked into the shop, we noticed the long bar aligned with fixed bar stools. There was also lots of tables for seating or even comfy chairs. It was a very comforting atmosphere. We waited in line while we decided what we wanted to eat and drink. We both ordered dirty chai with a ginger lemon scone. Both of which were perfect way to start the day. This shop has quite a few baked goods that are baked fresh daily. Very impressive. It is very dimly lit but a great place to relax and enjoy a drink. If you are in the area, please stop in and see these folks. Let them serve you up something nice. I'm glad I did. read more

This is most definitely my favorite coffee shop in Kentucky. Immediately when we walked in we felt a wave of warmth. The staff was very kind and helpful and easy to connect with. The coffee was good. The barista was very friendly and efficient. She knew how to make my order and did so while chatting and it was quite nice. The whole place was very clean and looked so nice and inviting. If they would have used fresh ground coffee, I would have been obliged to give a 5 star review! This is an adorable little coffee shop. I highly recommend stopping in here if you're in the area and interested in a coffee, tea or quick snack. In the winter they have a delicious drink called the "warm fuzzy" which is a mocha chai, and it's delicious. read more

My iced chai was delicious...they use a powder to make the iced version so it's not watered down. He raved about his coffee which is saying something. Service was quick and patient considering we had abundant questions since we'd never been here before. Decor is really nice, cozy, the areas are broken up well so you don't feel like you're intruding on others. There's a bar as well as couches, comfy chairs, and tables with chairs. I used to work in Berea and we frequented Papaleno's for pizza and breadsticks...I don't remember this place being here but maybe it was and I was just wandering around missing out. I've been in Berea visiting (and working) for the last week. Berea Coffee and Tea is a wonderful home-town site. You'll see locals and college students there all the time. I say that, since if you're looking for a Starbucks experience, you won't find it there. What you will find is a friendly and helpful staff, good coffee, good food, great small town atmosphere. I have found it a great place to grab a table, have coffee and breakfast, and get a few hours of work done. Much better than being closed up in a hotel room. Berea Coffee and Tea is a total success at what they set out to do, it seems to me: offer a stylish, casual eatery with a knowledgeable staff and stunning selection of coffees, teas and sodas. I hung out here for several hours recently finishing a laptop project and enjoyed the following: * spotless wi-fi * incredible apple pie a la mode * several cups of expertly-made fair trade coffee * a delicious sausage and egg biscuit * extremely good vibes The place can be a tad bit understaffed or maybe there's just a regular back-up because it's so damned delicious, and often bustling. I felt very taken care of here, and simultaneously *left alone,* which is something I value when working on my laptop. Add to that a great "cross-section" clientele and it's a total win. We stopped in for a coffee while strolling downtown Berea and were almost immediately smitten with this place. Loaded with character, very clean and also friendly service. It seems that the locals flock here for coffee and good food. The scones and desserts looked good, and the place has much space to find a seat. Nice decorations and great coffee. If I lived or visited frequently, this coffeehouse would be an everyday visit. read more

I was a huge fan of this place in college, but it has really gone downhill in the last few years. The service is incredibly slow and the prices are incredibly high, but what really turns me off of this place is the way they treat customers. I went today for a drink and breakfast around 8:30 AM on a Saturday. They didn't have bread in stock for toast, and although I ordered a quiche instead they were out of those too. Finally I just decided on a croissant and while I was waiting the owner of the establishment came up to me and started complaining about a customer that just ordered ahead of me. We don't know each other but I guess since I was the only person at the counter he started talking to me. He was complaining about how he had to replace her hot water because it wasn't hot enough. It was super uncomfortable, and very unprofessional of him to start smack talking a woman who just bought black tea. After being made the wrong drink and waiting waaaay too long for a premade croissant , I finally booked it out of there. I keep coming back thinking the service will get better or the food come out faster, but I am consistently dissatisfied. I WANT to like this place as much as I did five years ago, but there needs to be huge changes. Two stars because it's decorated cool and it's not a dirty place. read more

This is by far my favorite place to be. The atmosphere is incredulous pleasant, the seating is incredibly comfortable, there are plenty of outlets, and there's always good music. I've tried tons of their beverages and their sandwiches and I've not once been disappointed! I seriously recommend their food to anyone. The five star is a solid roast, and they have a rotating flavor which is always fun to try. My favorite is Highlander Grogg-- if they have it when you go, you should seriously try it. Excellent place to get good coffee and food. Everything is homemade and uses the freshest ingredients. For coffee I suggest their raspberry mocha. I don't usually like the idea of chocolate and fruit together, but this drink changed my mind. For sandwiches, their Roma and Mediterranean veggie are my favorites. Good americano, GREAT panini. Had the one with prosciutto and spring greens. Perfectly light but flavorful with crunch on the bread but not crazy flakey(hate when half the bread ends up on the table or in my lap). 10/10 would eat more paninis from here. Their staff is young liberal arts college folk and so you get the "ugh really" eye rolls and standard coffee shop BS, but I'm not a child so I knew to expect that and brush it off. read more

I always enjoy BC&T for the atmosphere and fair trade coffee. The 5 star is my favorite and their scones are delicious! They are a little smaller from when I was a freshman in college (2012-2013) but they are still good. The staff is always friendly. Passing through Berea, a quaint college town, on a recent COVID escape trip from our home in western NC. Discovered the Berea Coffee & Tea Co, and what a delightful place for a bite of lunch. Instead of coffee (too hot and humid on this particular afternoon), we opted for paninis and cold root beer. My wife had the Four Cheese panini, and I had Ham and Smoked Gouda. Delicious! The service was great, the ambiance was laid back coffee house, and the "dad" jokes were, well, dad jokes. Well worth the visit! read more

I have been to this coffee shop a few times! The coffee is good and they have a wide variety of other options. The store itself is comfortable and inviting, with a lot of seating. The food is decent, basic sandwiches and pastries. Unfortunately the last time I was there the wifi wasn't working. When I informed the staff they noted that " it happens all the time, sorry" and made no efforts to work on it. Okay, okay. One more star, but only because responses to my previous review were semi-literate, if not logical. Unfortunately the term "regular" should be reserved for the coffee, not the number of times I visit the shop, which is better termed as 'infrequent' because of the 'average' quality of coffee along with the additional detrimental elements I've outlined in the past. I think every business has the opportunity to please a customer when that customer arrives. It seems some feel a business should be given an opportunity to really show what they can be . . . but isn't that opportunity present from the outset? Still, subpar coffee, surly 'baristas', tourist prices, and only garnering good criticism from the built-in college patrons and associated locals. There's a drive-through Starbucks in Richmond ten minutes away, and the local library has more space for socializing. Sorry. The opportunity has passed; but I'll stop in occasionally, although not regularly, because as I've stated before: it's the only game in town. read more

This is a great place for hot tea and visiting! I am giving this place 5 stars because the atmosphere was very friendly. It is hard to find a coffee shop that really stands out as superior, and this is that one, for me! I came here with my 1-year-old, and was able to hang out here and catch up with a friend. With a very young child, it can be different to a find a place to stay for a while and visit. I can't say enough good things about this place, but I'm going to try... -Good prices -Good food -Great coffee (I highly recommend the house blend, Berea 5 Star. Now that I've moved away, it's one of my most missed things from KY...I actually bought a large quantity when I was there in December to bring back and share with California friends.) -Amazing service (The staff are friendly and quick. They get to know regulars and even go so far as to suggest drinks if you're not sure what you want that day. Also, I was there one day, not feeling well, just hanging out, and one of the guys I knew best there brought me a sandwich and my favorite kind of tea to make me feel better, before I'd even asked for anything.) -Great atmosphere (It's cozy without being suffocating, and also has two tables out front and a back patio.) -They care about their community (When I was a sophomore at Berea, my campus organization was ordering new shirts. We needed to raise money for them, so I approached Adam, the owner, asking for sponsorship, and he obliged. Also, BCAT often plays host to community events, such as local musicians or fundraisers for the food bank.) All in all, it's just phenomenal.
