It's a cool little spot with a good vibe and the owner was incredibly outgoing and nice. My friend and I both got cold brews which were okay, slightly on the "weaker" side for my personal taste. My friend also got a cinnamon roll which was good but all of the baked goods looked great! I was somewhat impressed with the Berea Coffee and Tea company. Shortly after 9am I needed my caffeine infusion after a brief walk around and decided to check out the place. My greeting was immediate but had to wait to actually order. Ended up having a latte though overpriced was quite good. Later that morning I was commenting on the place to my parents so we went for their morning cinnamon roll, which they said was quite good and big enough for both of them. I was a bit miffed to see they did not offer discounted refills. I actually only wanted half a cup of regular coffee to sweeten down the latte but no such luck. read more

My sister was passing through on her 9 hour road trip for a quick pick me up and was very much put down. The two nasty male baristas refused to acknowledge her and rolled their eyes when she requested oat milk, as her body does not tolerate milk. Nor does her kind-hearted demeanor tolerate retaliation. Absolutely the worst customer service. Walked in with two friends and we were met with a hostile and contemptuous stare from the barista. No greeting, no offer to serve us, just the evil eye. Saw this coffee place in the same general building as where we were staying and my friend decided that we would get up early so she could get a good cup of coffee to start off her day and I would have tea the next morning. We even got there 1/2 hour after it was supposed to open and it was still closed. Disappointing. However, when I went back later to see what was going on, I was told that the person who was supposed to open didn't even show up. To the owner's credit, he went there to open it himself just minutes supposedly after we went someplace else. No gluten free food there, but the place really seems cute and charming. Had the blackberry cream latte, which was decent. Customer service was not decent. One employee never spoke a word to us except to say they were out of ice. Even when he brought three different drinks out, he just sat them all on the table and walked away, leaving us to determine which was which. Wouldn't recommend based on that experience. read more

BC&T occupies one shop on the small strip of stores located at College Square. Since I can throw a rock from my office and hit it with ease, I stop by at least once a week for either breakfast or a quick pick-me-up during the day. So, keep in mind that this review covers many visits over time. On its best days, the shop gives you exactly what you need with no fuss. Coffee is only as particular as your taste for different blends, of which the shelf is lined with 10-15 by the pound. They serve a wide variety of hot and espresso drinks, frappe, and blended and iced fare. So, purists and sugar bombs have an equal home here. You can similarly indulge your sweet tooth or a more full-bodied appetite with its lunch fare. This place is rarely with a wait, so customers can get in and out pretty easily. If I had to be converted by anything, it's the cinnamon roll paired with plain or iced black coffee. I rarely eat the pie but it was tasty when I have had it. Breakfast biscuit sandwiches are okay too if you don't mind a bland egg or American cheese. On its worst of days, BC&T phones in its food and, perhaps at the behest of the surly proprietor, doesn't give a damn about it. The staff charm is hit and miss sometimes. Coffee easily sits for long periods of time without being rebrewed. Given their price point, the paninis never quite get heated through and Sunchips get soggy (the bread too) if the dill spears are too juicy. So, enjoy this place for what it is: a quick place to get your fix. read more

Stopped here for lunch recently while on vacation in Berea, KY, and it was somewhat disappointing. I felt the customer service and price did not meet expectations. The overall ambiance of the restaurant was nice, but we spent $23 total, for two panini's and two coffees, and then had to wait 25-27 minutes to even receive our sandwiches. There was only man working at the time we went, midday on a weekday. The sandwiches themselves were good, but not worth the exorbitant price. I feel I could have made them at home. They came with some Lays potato chips. Originally, we were going to go to a different restaurant, but we could not get into the driveway due to road construction. We chose Berea Coffe & Tea on a whim, and I wish we'd gone somewhere else. I would suggest to not waste your money here, and instead, go to Native Bagel Company just a mile down the road. read more

We were looking for coffee after missing the hotel breakfast, and figured there'd be something in a college town. We saw this, but drove by because it looked closed. Circled back, and it was open- it's decorated with a lot of wood, and small lamps, so it was kinda dark from the outside. Very comfortable inside, with plenty of seating along one side, and the counters on the other. Coffee, yes, which Sweetie said was good. Pastries, as you might expect. Plus sandwiches. Awesome sandwiches. I had the ham and cheese, on a customer's recommendation. The bread was great, the fillings were great; add a pickle and chips, and it was a good breakfast/lunch. Sweetie had a BLT, I think, and loved it. There were lots of other interesting sandwiches on the board, and some special drinks. Service was excellent. Prices weren't bad. We're already planning a trip back to Berea because of the awesome college, so I'm sure we'll be back. read more

Excited to see the town of Berea, I was optimistic about stopping in for a snack. This place is adorable and cozy.... BUT... When we walked in it was a bit confusing as to what to do... do you just sit somewhere and they take your order... or do you order at the counter? If so, exactly where is the counter? Sooo.... we opted to order from the first person who paid any attention to us, everyone seemed "busy" and they told us to take a seat, they'd bring it to us. I ordered a Chai Frappuccino and a Peach Scone. The Scone was warm and flaky... very nice! The Chai Frappuccino tasted more like pumpkin spice than chai, and it was not well blended at all... very chunky and icy... not smooth... Confused as to how to pay, as we were never handed a check, we wandered back up to the spot on the counter with the cash register and they rang us up. This is a beautiful coffee shop located in town center of Berea. Since I don't know my way around the town, I had to ask one of the locals for a coffee/tea shop and double checked their suggestion on yelp. This is a decent size coffee shop, with several seating options. It is a bit dim inside so may be not the best place to get work done. There was a huge menu of drinks, sandwiches, and lots of pastries in the pastry case. There were lots of people around but the line moved fast. The staff very especially helpful and personable. We got scones and dirty chai (chai plus espresso) and they were oh-so-delicious. I think I will reserve the 5th star for next time I try their coffee (without the chai flavor) or tea. All of the drinks and food are very overpriced, not to mention they aren't even good. The owner of the business is rude to customers on a daily bases. He is constantly trying to start fights within the community. He underpays his staff. I used to go to BCT all the time, but I got tired of paying for overpriced bad coffee. We walked in and could not get waited on although there was a woman behind the counter doing nothing. No one greeted us as we entered and no one else was waiting to be served. We walked to the lunch menu and made our choices. Then we walked to where the woman was standing and tried to make eye contact. No luck. Then a man walked up and she said something to him. When she did not acknowledge us we walked and sat at the counter and again, looked at her trying to make eye contact. She start talking to a man already seated at the counter. They talked about a person, nothing related to food or drink. We were looking at her during the whole conversation from only 3-4 feet away. After 3-4 minutes we walked out. She never said one word to us. That was our first time in there and we won't be back. We went a few doors down to the Italian place and were greeted and served immediately. read more

Definitely one of the greatest coffee and snack shops in Berea. The dim lightning and the variety of DIY-ed decor in the room adds to the small town effect. It definitely felt super cozy and comfortable. I ordered a peach jet tea, and it was hands down one of the best that I have had. The texture was somewhat like an icee, and it was truly perfect for a mid day break.
