Wow! We stopped here for a drink and a small bite to eat and sat at the bar in this beautiful and well maintained historical building. It was about 2:00 so there was only a limited bar menu. We ordered two Kentucky brewed beers-delicious and two plates to share. We had the chicken wings and cauliflower. Absolutely delicious flavor and large portions. Unfortunately we were traveling so couldn't take the leftovers with us. Staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the area! Great little spot! read more

Stopped in tonight after an event at Boone Tavern. This is a nice bar and definitely doesn't feel like a hotel bar. Good selection of food and drinks. Service was excellent. This would be a good date night stop. read more

Everything we had at crafted was delicious. They serve you bread pudding as a little treat before your food arrives and it is incredible. Our food was delicious. ok, so returning to Crafted (because we stayed at Boone Tavern and had purchased breakfast vouchers). Thank goodness we tried breakfast! Our dinner experience was SO disappointing that I am grateful to have a positive word to say. Coffee was fabulous, smoke brisket hash was excellent (with enough bridget to choke a goat), and the pancakes were brilliant. Service was competent and pleasant-- met a lovely couple from San Francisco and had a lovely conversation before food arrived. The new Boone Tavern Restaurant, Crafted is stunning! It's like walking into an art gallery. The beautifully displayed Berea College crafts are truly awe-inspiring & pays homage to the history of the student craft department. Floor to ceiling AND wall to wall, this Restaurant is absolutely beautiful. Not at all discrediting the previous historic restaurant, but it was time to showcase something foundational about Berea College (yes, I'm biased as an alumna). Joined a colleague for lunch & were experienced great service & scrumptious food. My smash cheeseburger was delicious and she shared that her fried green tomato sandwich was really good. Fries were hot & fresh! Our highlight was the Mocktail!!! Made with a non-alcoholic wine and ginger beer, it was very refreshing! Our complimentary Spoonbread came out after our food, but he was enjoyed the freshness! I highly recommend and visit. The menu offers a great variety and I am eager to try there new bar & cocktails. First time back since they renovated. It looks great! Beautiful decor and not at all stuffy as before. Bar is very nice! Service was excellent! I had the buckwheat banana hotcakes and bacon...delicious! My wife had the smash burger and she really liked it. We'll be back!!!! read more

Thanksgiving dinner was not typical of past experiences. Had a feeling there were issues with a tense exchange by diners and the hostess before we even got seated. We sat down at 1:45 pm and left close to 4:40 pm. Service was painfully slow - especially in comparison to surrounding similar sized tables. Drinks came out after an hour and after salads were served. Dinner came out with cold stuffing. Turkey and ham were very sparing in comparison to other plates served. Server did correct this. Dessert (apple cobbler) was served some hot and some cold without forks and server never brought forks even after asked. Thanksgiving required a mandatory but not communicated until the bill - 20% tip. Probably would have left a higher tip if not forced but overall the meal and service were lacking. I mentioned to the manager afterwards and he appreciated the feedback but did or offered nothing. read more

I'll start by saying I lived in Madison County for over 40 years. Boone Tavern Restaurant used to be a nice place to have a celebration dinner. No longer. We had reservations for Thanksgiving Day for a party of 10 at 2:45 (they were going to quit serving at 3:30). They had already run out of the Waldorf salad. The quality of food was very poor - it was room temperature at best, Stovetop stuffing is better than theirs, and there was so much gravy on the turkey AND the mashed potatoes, we had to "dig" the food out from under all the gravy. To top the list of unacceptable, the pumpkin pie was still frozen. It was too hard to eat. This was a plated meal at $55 per person. (The only thing worse was when we went two years ago and they had changed the food AND the quality of the food on their Thanksgiving buffet and charged over $100 per person.) Let me say the server was nice and friendly but she can only serve what comes out of the kitchen. We usually don't say anything about bad food but this used to be special, folks need to know it has changed over the past couple of years and select somewhere else to dine.
