I have dealt with this dealership for several years and put up with horrible service. Something is horribly wrong when the service department will not answer their phone calls Management was made aware several times but no corrective action taken. I can only conclude they don't care. Berglund Dealership in Salem - BE WARNED. They sell brand new cars with paint damage. This dealership sold me a beautiful Mazda CX-5. My first new car in 20 years. Beautiful that is, until I discovered damage to the paint (SWIRLS all over the hood and to a lesser degree on the side panels) 10 days after the purchase. I had planned to wash it that Saturday. This is something you cannot see outside of direct sunlight. I contact the salesman at the dealership and he offered to "correct it" (as they should; damage on a NEW car by improper washing/detailing), They washed it and the damage was still there. I took it back a second time. They washed it again. In the end, all they did was wash it for me twice. I contacted Mazda directly, in good faith, to have the paint corrected under warranty, or reach some fair resolution. Instead, I received a very impersonal email advising me that the sales manager "confirmed there were no swirl marks on the car when I left the lot". When Mazda contacted the dealership for details, both the sales manager and the service manager there blamed the damage on me. I have yet to wash the car myself to this day; Berglund has washed it THREE times. So now I will have to pay out of my own pocket to correct damage this dealership caused to a brand new car. The sales manager said to me in person the day I spoke to him, that I could "walk out on the lot at any time and find several cars with similar damage." Brand new cars. What does that say about Berglund? They're obviously 100% OK to sell damaged cars to customers. My request was to reimburse me the $500-700 to correct the paint the proper way. That went over like a lead balloon. I sincerely hope that anyone considering doing business there will thoroughly check any vehicle you consider purchasing in DIRECT SUNLIGHT for paint damage, because once you drive off the lot THEY SIMPLY DON'T CARE. PS - Also, if you still proceed to buy from this dealership, MAKE SURE you completely check the car from top to bottom BEFORE you take their little "survey". It was drilled into my head how important it was that I give 100% A+ on everything or it hurts the salesman. Thankfully, I waited. I now have a brand new car with damaged paint caused by Berglund, and blamed on me. It's a disgusting way to do business and they know it. I was cordial, understanding, and patient while they gave me their word it would be repaired. In the end, it's about the money. Customer service is the very last item on the list for this crooked place. NOT RECOMMENDED. NEW cars should have NEW paint. Good job, Sales Manager Matt Bishop. Good job, Bill Carlucci salesman. Randy Bivens was a great sales associate! Being in the car business I know how internet shopping can be taxing on the sales associate. Randy was nothing but kind and upfront about everything on the 2013 Shelby GT500. We arranged shipping of the car to California from Virginia and they were very accommodating about holding onto the car until the trucking company came to get the vehicle. Jeff Loder was also fantastic as he helped out with all the documents being fedex'd back and forth. I would recommend this dealer to anyone, and especially Randy and Jeff, they are top notch guys! I am COMPLETELY disgusted by this dealership. I bought a 2019 Ford Fusion from them not a MONTH ago. I've put less than 1000 miles on the car. A week after I got the car, the ford app let me know there was a recall on the powertrain control module. So I took it back and had the control module reprogrammed. Afterwards, more and more problems have started to arise including ones that could potentially kill me while driving this car. I took it back to service it one more time and they said there was nothing wrong with the car even though the engine was throwing codes. So I took the car back again in good faith. It started to act up more and more. Yesterday, I finally took the car back to the dealership and told them that I wanted out of that car because of all the issues. They said okay, that it was no problem. So I took the time to test drive another car and everything was looking great... until they brought me back the new estimate of what I would be paying for this 2016. I'd be paying MORE for the 2016 because they were trying to use the Fusion as a trade in. I told them that if that is what they were going to do that I would just make it a part of my routine to have it service EVERY time it has any issue. I told them what had been happening with the gearshift and said fine that I was coming back to get it serviced today and it better be fixed. They said they would fix it and actually gave me their word it would get fixed. After having a 20 minute conversation on the phone with them today, they've now gone back on that word and said that they won't fix anything unless I can make the issue happen right in front of them. It is absolutely ridiculous that I pay 22K for a car and extra warranties and they will not fix it. NEVER do business with Berglund Ford Mazda. They will do anything to make a buck and save a buck. They do not care about your safety. read more

My daughter bought a 2019 Ford Fusion in late February. It had a little less than 4000 miles. It was a lot loaner. Now it has less than 5000 miles. She was contacted to bring it in for reprogramming. She did. Since, it has flashed the powertrain service light at her twice....it has been taken in twice and she is told no codes. She has had issues getting it in gear. Sometimes the gear selector dial whirs for minutes after cutting off the car. We went in and asked for help. I talked to Mr Loder the sales manager. We looked at a car ...2016 and 30k miles. Instead of helping, they attempted to screw my daughter by trading it in and giving several thousand less than they just sold it for. Not what was meant by help. I went back and was quite irate. They apologized and said that was all they could do but promised to get service to fix it. My daughter just got of the phone with service. Service is telling her she must reproduce the issue so that they can see it...even though she has video. Don't buy from these crooks. My daughter is in her early 20s. She pays her own way. She has a 2 year old son. They have to ride in this. This dealership doesn't care. They talk the sweetest game, but their word means nothing. read more

The sales team is very helpful and quick to answer questions. My salesman, Rob, did an excellent job helping us find the right car and proceeded to help get us an outstanding deal on a new car. Additionally, the General Manager is very personable and willing to negotiate price very close to invoice. Mistake #1 was us buying the first Ford from them. You cannot schedule an appointment for service.IF you leave a message do not expect a callback. They blame the phone system that we do not get a callback. You also can't schedule anything online either. In January we went into"TALK"about buying ANOTHER FORD.(BIG MISTAKE # 2) I was asked to come in and even though I was against getting duped again Scott went ahead and got a 2014 Taurus. I was not happy with the salesman who gave me the usual double talk and told me I was mis informed and that we were getting a "Good Deal" . Despite my numbers and what I SHOULD BE PAYING... WE SHOULD HAVE WALKED!! Fast Forward to Now .. Our 6 month old car began to have electronic issues. On a business trip in Maryland the A/C quit... making HOT commute home in a Business suit. We bring the car in on Monday July 7 and because they are having SO MANY cars with issues they are out of loaners. They did arrange with a rental company a car while they checked for the problem. Tuesday the 8th they called and said we could not replicate the problem so we returned the rental Car. Thursday Scott is once again heading to Maryland and the A/C quits AGAIN in Botetourt County !!! He turns round and comes back to Roanoke getting to Berglund FORD just before they opened. Hooked the car up to a computer AND AMAZINGLY THEY FOUND A PROBLEM... Oh wait ....THEY FOUND NUMEROUS PROBLEMS. The technician said multiple codes and multiple systems failing. He said "this one is going to be fun." Why did they not find ANY PROBLEM on Monday ?? Well They gave us a Berglund Loaner for only a few hours Seems they could not get parts till MONDAY ?? So we have to bring our Broken Car Home and Scott can not travel on Appointments or anything for how long. This story is not finished but most likely on Monday they will offer their loaner which can not leave the state . So we are missing business and our availability to our customers. I really want to bring that CRAPPY CAR back tot he Berglund lot and tell them to keep it and assume the payments . I was personally told by the Service Manager in January we would not have Problems... Well Sir We have...and We Still DO. read more

My Mother and Father Bought a New Ford Escape from Berglund in Salem. This car has been in the shop 4 times and will not start when my mom gets ready to go any place. They just brought it back to my mom a few minuets ago and it had damage on the back end as they had backed into something and tried to leave it with my mom before she saw the damage. This is a very bad customer experience and is un called for no way to do business. They are taking advantage of a senior citizen that is now widowed. They never even tell her what is wrong with the car or how they fixed it.....just that she needs to start it more and drive more. Just because my mom is a senor she is know one to take advantage of. I have contacted an attorney and this will end and she will have a car that will start with no damage. one way or the other. Berglund please try to treat our seniors with respect and just because she is a lady she knows what you are trying to do and will not take this..........................you better improve your service or you want have anyone to service. Save your time and go somewhere else to purchase a vehicle. The level of customer service and attention to detail is non-existent here. The overall buying experience was the worst ever and the set up of the dealership is not convenient for the customer. Tack on a ridiculous 10.00 fee for the "privilege" of shopping for their vehicle on the net and a $498.00 processing fee and you can easily see they are only out to squeeze as much money as possible out of the customer. I wanted to buy 4 spark plugs and have them install them and they quoted a price of $244 plus tax for a job that takes about 30 minutes !!! The spark plugs cost $31 a piece !! What a rip off. I had everybody at work laughing over these ridiculous prices. Anyway, I will be buying very good spark plugs at one fourth the price they wanted and I will be installing them myself. read more

I have been to the service center at Berglund Ford Mazda 2 times, and both times have received the absolute worst service from any service center in my life. I bought my Mazda when I was living in San Diego, who by the way had the best service center I have ever experienced. I moved to Roanoke 2 years ago and unfortunately, Berglund is the only Mazda service center in Roanoke. But because of the horrible experiences I have had there, I will never, ever return. I will drive an hour out of my way for service rather than go back to Berglund. I am so disappointed by not only the lack of customer service at the Berglund Ford Mazda Center, but also the incredibly Rude Nature of the people who work there. Our experience was one with rocky road. The internet company that Berglund employ's lead us down a primrose path. We drove two and half hours based on promises that where made. Unfortunately we had to start from the beginning. Thanks to the help of their sales person Jacob.
