Terrible Customer Service. Completely Unreliable. ​Ordered a hard to find Arcteryx jacket several weeks ago. After not receiving a shipment notification for almost a week I emailed asking when the item would ship, and was told it would likely ship the next day. After waiting ANOTHER week without a shipment notification I emailed again. This time I didn't even receive a response. I emailed a THIRD time, and still no response. I'll of course never order from Berg's again, and will strongly recommend that other's don't either. I always try to support the local shop when I can. Sven and the guys are amazingly helpful! If your existing boots are uncomfortable (pressure spots), spending $20-30 on getting them fitted/punched-out is one of the best investments you will ever make! They also have a board with snow depth conditions at all the local ski areas, and run buses to Bachelor and some other areas throughout the week (weds hooky bus, and weekends I think). read more

I really like this ski shop! Most of the employees are very friendly and happy to share their knowledge. The rentals are quite affordable and they have a huge stock, but still manage to run out on busy weekends. I had my skis tuned there this season and they did a great job, but it took a while as it was the beginning of the season, which was not a surprise. Had a really frustrating experience ordering a hard shell through the Berg's website. Twice I placed an order for a shell showing in stock only to be notified days later it was out of stock. Third time, got a shipping notice but they mixed up shipments with another customer and sent me a bag instead of the jacket; when I notified them of the shipping error, the shell was of course out of stock again. I took Berg's bus to Willamette Pass and had such a great time snowboarding that I accidentally left my wallet on the bus on the ride home. Naturally, I freaked out when I realized this. Called Berg's who immediately referred me to the bus company, Experience Oregon, who said, yep, we have it, come get it. Amazingly enough, they had the wallet and absolutely nothing was missing. That experience has sealed my love of Berg's bus. As a student at UO without a car, it's hard for me to get to the mountains. Most of my friends who do drive don't have tire chains. So it's much better and easier on all of us to just hop the bus, which is timely, safe, and run by competent and friendly guides. They are super conscientious about safety and making sure everyone is on the bus. And the bus is clean and they play a movie during the bus ride. It's a super plus that the bus leaves from and drops off at Berg's, so if you're a student like me, you can just rent stuff directly from Berg's. read more

I found a leftover pair of Burton Ions on their web site and ordered. Jeremy from the shop called to say that they weren't in stock, and offered to help me find something else. I really wanted the Ions. So, he said he'd look into checking with Burton to look for a leftover. Bam. They had, and he ordered them for me at a VERY low price. They arrived and didn't fit, so I returned them. Solution? They ordered me a new model year pair at a better price than I can get as an AASI certified instructor! The process took awhile, but that's not their fault as all orders from Burton have to go directly to a dealer. I was a little worried because of all the negative reviews from people who ordered online. However, my Volcom l gore-tex jacket came in just as described and quickly too! It qualified for free shipping and only took 2 days (+1 day of processing) coming from Oregon to Michigan. The tag on the back of the jacket is sewed on upside down but I think that was an accident on Volcom's side, or maybe that's why it was such a good deal. I just won a 50$ certificate to Bergs. For years this place has been my ski shop. Tom fueled my love of skate skiing with excellent affordable equipment. He was willing to put an old pair of bindings on my fancy new skis. We have purchased and maintained our alpine gear with them for years. They are happy to throw on a quick wax on the house whenever I walk in the door. They came up on a google search for a ski pant I was looking for, they were the only ones who had my size and color I wanted. They shipped the same day when I put the order in at 2:45. Ordered an Arc'teryx jacket on January 7. I contacted them on the 12th as I had not received a shipping confirmation. Tim replied back promptly stating I'd likely get it on the 18th as they had to retrieve it from their offsite warehouse. It didn't deliver so I touched base with them again twice over email. No responses. Over the telephone, I was told Tim was out and as soon as he walked in they'd have him call me back asap. He did not return my call. The next day I received a shipping confirmation with a tracking number. I gather they had my order sitting around and Tim had neglected it until I talked to one of his associates. I tried searching for my package with the courier and it said the tracking number did not exist. I know Berg's has a physical store that is evidently reputable, so I tried to remain calm. The thought of being scammed worried me. Contacted Tim again about how disappointed I was in the customer service and lack of communication, his rare response was insincere, acknowledging my frustration as if one were to try to end an uncomfortable confrontation and move on. The courier they had told me ended up being incorrect. I received my package February 2nd. I fervently tried to see if it was a fake product, that's how uncomfortable Berg's made me with this transaction. Shop at their physical store, don't purchase online. When it says certain brands take longer to process, assume they mean about a month as long as you're on top of it. Customer service shouldn't avoid their customers if they know it's an issue that can be addressed, it's called being professional. I ordered a rather expensive jacket through their online shop and used a referral link for the ActiveJunky cashback service. The referral was registered on the website, but was cash back was denied. I contacted Berg's to get more information (and Active Junky did as well), but I was totally given the run around from customer support. They responded to my first email saying they couldn't discuss it via email and to call Tim specifically. I tried calling multiple times, left a voicemail as well as a message with someone else, and tried emailing again and never received any more responses. We are from Orange County, California. We were traveling from Mt. Hood to Tahoe late Sunday afternoon (on a long weekend), and stopped at Bergs for repairs and maintenance. The kids damaged one of the bindings and broke straps on another set of bindings at Hood on Saturday and Sunday, and we were afraid we were going to lose slope time when we got to Tahoe for Monday's skiing (while we were doing maintenance on the boards). When we stopped at Bergs, Ryan hooked us up. In less than 30 minutes, he replaced the bindings on one board, and three straps on another (older set of bindings, too), and we were on our way. The amazing part was that the total bills was $130 (parts and labor), and they threw in a free waxing on both boards. If we did the same maintenance at Tahoe, it would have been at least $250 and eaten into a big part of the day. These guys are the frickin' best. read more

I have mixed feelings about Berg's. I placed an order for an Arc'teryx jacket advertised for a great price on Monday. By Wednesday, I had not received an order or shipping confirmation, so I called the store to find out if there was an issue. Took them some time to find my order, but they were friendly and helpful on the phone. Whoever I spoke with told me there would be about a week's delay on shipping the item, which was news to me and disappointing, but whatever. She promised that Tim, who handles the online orders, would send my email ASAP. That email never came, so I called back again. This time I spoke with someone else who assured me the email was on its way and that my jacket would now ship out by the end of the week. Great. When the second email failed to materialize I called again (third time) and talked to Tim. He sent the email while on the phone with me (I suspect this was the first time sending it though they claimed otherwise). He confirmed the package would go out the following day. Though I received the jacket as promised by the following Monday, I felt like I had to do quite a bit of chasing around to make that happen. I was tempted to just order from Moosejaw and match their price, but I wanted to give my business to an independent retailer. I will say that everyone I spoke with seemed genuinely concerned with whether or not I received my order, however, I think they should be more transparent in the future about the shipping timetable. read more

I ordered a binding and had it shipped to the east coast via Fedex, showed up a day early, however with a manufacturers defect! Called em up that Friday, explained the problem and the urgency of my having an AT trip planned for Sat night. They called the Marker rep, packed up a new binding and sent it on it's way arriving to my ski shop prior to noon for mounting!
