first, I ordered a pair of cowboy packers . Sent in the size tracings and was told my size was 1.5 size smaller than what I typically by. concerned I called and was assured they wuold fit. boots arrived and fit perfectly. then one heal was slighrly askew causing uneven wear. sent rhem back and new eubber plates were installed but heel was still askew. I called and spoke to Kyle. He made me a new pair of boots at no charge and they are absolutely perfect. These guys are 0 for 2 with getting my order correct. I've been wearing Whites boots for over 10 years and have three pairs: first one came from the factory and is sized correctly. Second pair I got from Baker's in 2012 and has fitment problems. I stupidly decided to give them another chance (spring 2019) and have major figment problems with this pair as well. One issue is they forgot to add the "taco" as ordered to the heel. I sent it back to them, called after a couple weeks to see how it was going and they couldn't find my order. A couple more calls and finally got it on its way. I'm including a picture of their version of Baker's heel taco vs how Whites does it. Their spray glued version will come off after a couple weeks. The other issue is the measurements - they don't actually send them in - probably because it's cheaper for them to just order a standard size. In my case a standard size doesn't fit. When I asked about this he got very cagey and we went in circles for a while until it was finally half admitted. I called about all this and he literally had no suggestions, he just apologized that it didn't work out. That's not how custom boot orders should be handled. I live in my boots, they have to perform correctly. There were other mistakes along the way but this review is long enough. Feel free to contact me if you want the whole story. My advice: don't use these guys. It's nice to be able to see the boots in person, and that's why I ordered through them in the first place, but you will get a much better fitting boot by going directly through Whites. read more

Had small issues with the toe splitting. They took them in, repaired, and back like new fully oiled and they literally looked brand new again, no charge. I was interested in a pair of White's MP Service boots. Bakers has a mail in sizing service where you trace your foot, measure your heel/instep/etc, and they will recommend a size, or custom fit the shoes if necessary. They insist that this be done by snail mail, so this is a pretty protracted process. I followed the steps, mailed in my sheet and waited a week. I didn't hear anything back, so I emailed and got a response. They said my size was 10E. My Brannock device measurements are 13B. When I called in about this the guy who answered the phone said I measured wrong. He said that your foot can get shorter when you have weight on it. I thought that sounded ridiculous, but I checked anyway. My feet definitely are not shorter when I'm putting weight on them. I asked them to double check the measurements and the reply was "I've been working here for 11 years, and my boss has been doing this for 20 years." Basically this amounts to "No, you couldn't possibly be clever enough to trace your own foot, and I won't double check." He refused to use the Brannock device size I sent in to make a sizing suggestion. He also pointed out that they get about 25 of these tracings per day, so didn't really have time for this. I sound high-maintenance. I get it. But here's the deal. Nobody NEEDS a $500 pair of boots. I saved up for this because it is something I really enjoy and can feel excited about. The value here is just as much the idea that someone is taking extra time to make things just right for you as it is the item itself. Not only was this guy unhelpful, he really seemed to go out of his way to spoil that perception for me. After this interaction I just don't feel excited about this the way I did before. That kind of anticipation and enjoyment is pretty rare in my life, so this was pretty disappointing. read more

I've only been here a few times, but I like this place! My wife had some boots that needed the heel fixed. She called these people up since they advertised being able to fix boots. I was in the area and had the pleasure of picking them up for her. When I arrived, the boots weren't fixed. They had the days messed up. None the less, the boots were fixed within 20 minutes and it was only $10! They have a great selection of outdoor gear. This isn't a REI type outdoor store. This is geared more towards logging and hunting. Lots of camo, carharts, fishing overalls and boots. They have a separate section dedicated to firearms. Pistols, rifles, and knifes are all in stock here. Lots of accessories as well, arrows, targets, ammunition, safes, holsters etc... I came in to do some Christmas shopping for my dad. I wasn't sure what to get him considering he has everything as it is. However, I did find a brand new Carhart coat that was on sale %50 off!! A coat that's normally $80 was mine for $40!! I was pretty happy with that. They had a lot of other clothes and shirts that were on sale too. I've always been treated well and never had a bad experience. I have grown so weary of the weirdness surrounding all of the shoe repair shops in this city. I finally searched for an alternative and found this place. .. It's a bit far from my usual range but they were helpful on the phone and I decided to give them a try. Their staff is friendly, quick, and professional. The shoe repair is in their retail store, which caters to outdoor sports (be prepared for stuffed deer and the like). The guys at Baker's have always been extremely helpful AND friendly even though I am not a big spender. I go back there, time and time again. They have repaired zippers on purses for me (on the spot, no less!) boots, shoes, high heels, sewn on patches, and when I had thought I needed to replace the zipper on my husband's leather jacket- turns out it only it needed an adjustment and they didn't charge me! I have purchased merchandise at Baker's even though most of the time they are over-priced...but after all these years of putting up with and being nice to someone like me- who on the average spends $12...they deserve it! read more

We have spent thousands of dollars at Bakers over the last few years but will spend not another penny here. Sadly when my husband purchased a new Glock there for me for Christmas, they failed to inform him that it was non-returnable/refundable if it was defective.They did send it back to Glock who took 6 weeks to get it back to them, and yep, still didn't work. The manager indicated that it was considered used and that they would not be able to re-sell it for the amount it was originally purchased for. WHAT??? Re-sell a defective gun??? We finally got them to honor the amount we paid for it as a credit to purchase another gun which became a fight of it's own as they didn't have any gun we wanted and they claimed they couldn't get any of the ones we wanted so finally we had them order a Sig ($280 more). Merry Christmas in March. I guess my thoughts were that if we were loyal customers and they could see how much money we spend there on a regular basis, they should value us more than to treat us like the enemy when their product fails. :( PS Hubby says they now have a sign posted in their gun department about No Returns read more

BUYER BEWARE I felt pushed into the 'house' brand of woods boots, was not shown others. ended up with a smaller size than I normally wear (they didn't have my size in stock), I purchased them because I was told they would stretch out. It's been 3 months and I still get blisters on my heels. I got the impression that they just wanted to clear out some of the 'house' boots. When I took the boots in complaining about the blisters they 'serviced' them, but I still get the blisters. I'll have them on craigslist soon. I also overheard a conversation where the sales people were pissed off that they had spent so much time with a customer who didn't buy anything. I would give it zero if I could. After placing an online order and using a coupon code they plaster all over the shopping cart for free shipping, I went a full day and then had my order cancelled. Apparently there were terms and conditions to the coupon (which were not anywhere except on a weekly email page). Instead of making it so the code doesn't work, or explaining there was a dollar limit, they let the purchase go through and then refunded my money later. If I knew about this restriction, I would not have purchased the product in the first place. This is 2011. It's not hard to add a restriction to a coupon on most shopping cart platforms. Stuff like this is why, despite efforts to shop at the smaller guys, people continue to go to the big guys. I know that Cabela's or Amazon.com will be getting my money, yet again. read more
