I just moved nearby and absolutely love this place. I use their phone app and clip coupons. My grocery bill has been cut in half for food higher in quality than Jewel or other similar locations. The checkout lines are always fast and the attendants so nice. Its very clean around. Extremely competitive prices, especially their meat department on the weekly specials. 3rd time I purchase Milagro Tortillas and they have mold. I have asked the manager not to mix old and new, eventually they will get someone sick. He did not seem to care, he offered to replace them. Where do I start? Awful tight parking lot. Dirty. Higher prices than Jewel, Mariano's, and Meijer. Chronically understaffed. Poorly managed. Mediocre selection. But the worst part? You have to check the dates on EVERYTHING. Eggs, Milk, yogurt, candy, meat, baby food, cereal, bread, cheese, I could go on and on. They obviously don't do enough business to turn stock over like it needs to be. Produce is sucky too. I will say that they have good meat, but you better check those dates too. Bakery items are a hard no. They used to get stuff from Orland Bakery. No more. This store needs a complete overhaul. Or maybe the people of Midlothian are ok with this crap as long as the liquor department is fully stocked, which it is. TWO THUMBS DOWN. Do better Berkots. read more

Yesterday was PI day-3/14 Berkotts advertised that every pie would be discounted by $3.14 in honor of PI day. Had no intention of going to the grocery store but the deal they advertised was too good to pass up right? Wrong! I picked out a cherry pie. I did notice that all of them had broken crusts and the bottom of the boxes had a round wet circle. The pies had a "sell by"date of 3/20. I was really looking forward to having a piece of cherry pie after dinner last night. Well when I cut into the pie I immediately saw there was a problem. Instead of a jelled like filling; it was mushy & the cherries looked on the brownish side instead of a nice red color. I used my pie server to extract a piece of pie and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get a piece of pie out of the dish with the bottom of the pie included. It was stuck there all wet & mushy. I hate leaving bad reviews but I'm literally just so sick of this place that I have to speak up. This place is poorly run. Employees are not happy. They never smile, they don't greet you, the barely talk back and they are not helpful. There are frequently pallets in the aisles... I'm always having to reach behind them or trying to move them to get something. I've seen the stockers on their phones instead of stocking and rotating items. It's ridiculous. I just watched a customer today climb on top of a pallet to get big bags of popcorn in the beer aisle. How is this safe? I've been spending my money here ever since Amazon fresh implemented their fee. I love having you here. I just wish it was run better and more organized. Do better Berkots. read more

Midlothian does not deserve an upscale grocer. For starters, what were they thinking when they put an upscale grocery smack dab in the middle of a blue collar neighborhood? The parking lot is very cramped, the store itself is dirty, and all the employees are seriously lacking in their customer service skills. No greeting, no thank you's. Deli people are the worst. They just come up to you and stare at you instead of saying 'may I help you'. The bakery is horrible. The stuff "looks" good, but then you buy it and it tastes stale. Drove to store at 10:30am to pick up order from deli that I was told would be ready. Waited awhile before I was able to speak to a worker and was told item I came for would not be ready until 11 am Roamed around store even though I'm disabled and walking is difficult. Went back to deli and was told by worker that she wAs busy filling an order and wasn't going to stop for me. Told me to return sometime after 11. I already wasted half an hour and wasn't going to stand there in pain not knowing when she would decide to help me. As I was leaving, I spoke to a manager and explained what happened. He said he would check it out when he could and I told him I was unable to stand and wait for a response since I'd already waited 30 minutes. His reply was sorry about that. Hi all, I was in the store yesterday March 27th.. Me and two of my frens went to get sushi bc I spoke so highly of there sushi n being prepared fresh .. I enjoy this grocery store. I used to pass by it ALL THE TIME because I thought it was some stuffy, hometown type of establishment..... ummmm I was WRONG!!! It's a decent, old fashion grocery store which I've come to appreciate!!!! You can go in and grocery shop in peace without all the hustle and bustle of other grocery store chains now. Let me say, I enjoy Mariano's for what it is BUT this is the type of grocery store I grew up shopping at! The employees are great, down home, genuine, welcoming people. The PRODUCE is pretty nice! Some items are over priced but I still get them if it means making ONE TRIP to the grocery store. All and all, I like Berkots. I'm there on average 2-3 days a week picking up fresh produce. I recommend this grocery store. I think it's one of the only ones in the area now since there's no ultra. ENJOY! read more

Very pleased with the produce freshness and specially with the meat department. I purchased some skirt steak from them and it was perfectly cut and so tendered compared to other grocery stores that I had purchased from. Will definitely be back to purchase some more. read more

My son and I went to do our daily grocery shopping and Kim that works behind the deli didn't greet me at all and when I asked her to please give me 5 pounds of ham she gave me the dirtiest look with an attitude and said well there's a limit of 4 pounds which I've never herd of but okay I said that's fine can you give me 4 pounds of ham and 1 pound extra then she said NO it's our policy and it's all over the store I said okay that's fine mind you there was another nice lady shopping next to me with a disgusted look on her face on how Kim was treating me and talking down to me in front of my 11 year old son and she said I'm sorry your going through this especially in front of your child I said thanks & walked to look for a manger to tell him how I was being treated by Kim from the deli he apologized and said that's not our policy on ham and this definitely is not how we take care of our customers I'm so sorry you and your son had to go through this I was only given 4 pounds of ham she wouldn't give me 5 pounds so I just took it and left as I was at the register the nice lady shopping next to me was like miss I got you your other 1 pound of ham and I looked at her and said omg thanks so much I don't know what all this was with kim treating me this way at the deli but I definitely won't be shopping here anymore more.. I'm currently sitting in the parking lot writing this because I'm so frustrated with this parking lot. It's a nice little local grocery store. Meat is good. It's small so selection isn't the best like a jewel but with that said it's good for what u need! The bad part about it is parking is terrible!!! The cart coops take up more than one spot and ppl end up parking there and the ends of cars stick out. The parking lot looks like an obstacle course. We moved into the area recently and used to do all of our shopping at Walmart when we lived in Orland Park. We don't like the Walmart here so we decided to try Berkot's. They are only a couple blocks from our house. We like the store but I have to agree with other reviewers that it's very small. It also doesn't have nearly enough handicapped parking or motorized carts for the Disabled. I am a disabled US Air Force veteran and need the powered cart to do my shopping. By only having two (when they're charged) you really have to take a chance of whether or not I can go into the store. Their meat selection is good but their prices on beef are high. read more

We come to this store once a week at least and spend the majority of our grocery dollars here. Happy to shop local, this is a five minute drive or less. Since opening, their produce section has gone from decent to beautiful, well organized and well tended. The guys working in that section all are very friendly and all seem like good, family people. I bring one, two or three kids with me every time and I appreciate how friendly and accommodating the workers are here. I've had many very pleasant interactions with staff here over the last few years, too many to list. Some bad, but you can't judge an entire business by one person having a bad day. Highly recommended. Happy to shop local, and happier when we have such a nice grocery store like this Berkots. read more

The store is really outdated. Including the food inside! I bought a bag of cheese to make a new recipe I was trying- I sprinkled the cheese on top and a huge clump of mold falls out. PUKE. So disgusting- half of the food had to be tossed because of the tainted cheese. The associates there are friendly- but the prices are high [especially considering they clearly haven't made any improvements to the store in maaaannyy years] and who ever is in charge of tossing expired goods or party favors from the 1960s really needs to step up their game or be fired. The managers here are morons. The staff are all mostly morons. Especially the hillbilly lady that scream talks. They are slow with everything especially the deli!!!!! Dear Lord,you need to invest time to go to their deli. It's not my one stop shop, but I do certainly love the produce section. I also LOVE the fact that they have the little shopping carts that my toddlers love to use. It's such a sweet touch. Please never get rid of these! They have good deals that I like to go in for. Usually beer! They'll have already low beer prices but then throw in guacamole for a penny, and the guac is actually pretty good. 20 limes for a dollar! I'll always find at least one or two good deals when I go. Pricing is not always correct so you have to keep your eye on that but they're good about fixing it. read more

I come in here on occasion. It's definitely the best little grocery store with a hometown feel to it. From the outside, you enter into it from a strip mall entrance. Inside when it's not busy, you're greeted and asked if you need any assistance. The prices are good with numerous sales items. The store is brightly lit. Produce and meat are great buys here. It's easy to feel that lost feeling (and not in a good way) in Jewel's, Mariano's, but here, it's different. They store layout is much more intuitive and a good selection of products for a smaller sized store compared to the other big Corp. grocery stores. They definitely are doing something right here and I'll continue to patronize this store when I'm in the area. read more

Wonderful produce, bakery (some items from Orland Park Bakery, yay!) ethnic foods, wonderful meats. I stopped going to the old Sentry - the people seemed emotionless. They have great made fresh food, I wish there was more of an offering like grilled vegetables, whole chicken breasts, turkey breasts. Loved the homemade, ready to grill burger offering- meat was really wonderful. Enthusiastic staff. Berkot's is in stock of items that Mariano's can't keep in stock on. I like that this store is so close to home. Sometimes they have great sales. The store is pretty clean. Behind the service desk is awful. Everyone can see the mess and dirty floor. The cashiers are usually very nice. The managers walk by me every time I'm there and never even say hello. The Hispanic manager is the worst. The deli line is very slow on the weekends. These are all easy fixes. I'm in this store at least once a week. I'm glad they are in Midlothian. I do wish they would fix the parking lot. Dangerous parking situation. read more

Went in cause we received some coupons in the mail for some free 8 piece chicken just to try it out . The lady infront (White) had the same coupon and gave it to the cashier no questions asked when it came to my turn I handed her the coupon and she starts looking at it saying if that was even real and that she would have to call her manager to verify its authentic, the manager very rudely comes and also questions the coupon asking where did I get this coupon from I inform him that it was sent to me by mail, I question why the person that was before me did not get questioned like I did about this coupon and the manager just says I cannot comment on other customers if i was not present to see what happened after a couple minutes he tells her to just use it and walks away does not apologize and seemed very bothered by having to deal with this whole situation. Love having berkot's in Midlothian but my husband was just there this morning 7/25/2019 about 11:15 am and they have to get more help in deli department. 1 person who is slow cannot handle it. She was helping customer who had large order and by herself and didn't call for help. 3 people standing around cooking chicken but guess that is different department as never bothered to come over and help worker who had 4 customers waiting. 3 ended up leaving and never got any deli products as got tired of waiting. So u lost 3 customers. Maybe someone called off don't know but please do something about getting more help as we do not want to loose our store in Midlothian because of bad service which affects your store profits. There should always be 2 workers in each dept that helps customers at all times read more

Honestly ... a wonderful selection of fresh produce and lot's of variety. The sales are great and the shelves are stocked full. I LOVE that they have everything, just not a lot of different brands..because that means the rotation of what they DO offer is fresher than a store that offers many different brands of the same thing.
