BUYER BEWARE!! I ordered a pick-up order today that included chicken breasts, two packs. Both packs reeked from being severely spoiled, there's absolutely no way the associate didn't smell the stench or see the murky discoloration. The odor was so foul I had to take it to a public trash can to dispose because if it sits in my bin until garbage day, maggots and flies are guaranteed. This wasn't an oversight, it was a blatant act of negligence and carelessness. Thank goodness I was able to get an immediate refund but there's no way I would entrust Jewel of Oak Forest to shop my meat orders any longer. I do not recommend pick-up or delivery. read more

Went in for cheap chicken Monday about 2 weeks ago now and was told they had no chicken. They said they had given all their chicken from deli to the Tinley park Jewel. Come to find out it was because Tinley Jewel had a power outage the day before and they needed chicken for their cheap chicken Monday. Oak Forest Jewel is just the worst store to go to in my opinion. Also through the month of August, each week I had bought a gallon of milk. Each one of these milk went bad with at least 5 days left on the expiration date Prompting me to keep buying it until I gave up. Went to the jewel store in Palos park for a gallon of milk and had no problems with spoilage. Also bought a pkg of Tillamook cheese that had white edges when opened it the next day. I have shopped at this Jewel since 1998 and these past few years, service has gotten steadily worst. The staff move extremely slow. A wait at the deli counter, even with 4 to 5 staff, is at least 1/2 hour of a wait. I questioned the price of lunchmeat on my sliced to order. She said the sale price will be had at the register. It wasn't. I was going to the service counter to inquire about money back, but the line was very long. I guess this wasn't their only issue today. Today, at the meat counter, only one t-bone on display. After a two minute wait, a staff member finally appeared and asked if I needed help. I asked if there were more steaks available. (Side note, the butcher counter has 1 inch cuts. The pre-packaged cuts are thinner.). The response, pointing to the pre-packaged case, "There's some over there." Yeah, that is really bad service. I guess only select customers are allowed the thicker cuts. This is why I have and will continue to shop elsewhere. read more

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding repeated mistreatment I have experienced at the Jewel-Osco located at 5616 W 159th Oak Forest IL while completing Uber Eats deliveries. This is approximately the third or fourth time that I have been subjected to unprofessional, condescending, and outright disrespectful behavior from an employee named Jim. Today, at approximately 6:00 PM, I arrived to pick up an Uber Eats order. As has happened multiple times before, Jim aggressively informed me that changes were being made to the way rideshare drivers handle orders, specifically that we would soon be required to scan all of our items and load our own vehicles. However, Uber Eats has not implemented any such update on my end, meaning there is currently no requirement for me to follow this supposed new protocol. When I calmly tried to explain this, Jim spoke to me in an extremely rude, demeaning, and condescending manner. His tone, body language, and overall demeanor were hostile and unprofessional. The situation escalated when he brought my order out to my car. Instead of carefully placing the cart, he allowed it to strike my vehicle--an action I found not only careless but blatantly disrespectful. I have never experienced such treatment in the six years I have worked as a delivery driver. Shortly after, I received a second order, which was brought out by a much more professional and courteous employee named Adam. Because this second order contained hot food, Adam wore mittens and kindly offered to help load my vehicle. As he was doing so, he explained that while changes may be coming to the process, they had not yet been fully implemented. Unlike Jim, Adam communicated this information professionally and respectfully. However, as Adam was assisting me, Jim took it upon himself to loudly and obnoxiously shout across the parking lot, demanding that Adam stop loading my vehicle. This outburst was not only inappropriate but completely uncalled for. His behavior was disruptive, aggressive, and humiliating. I have had enough of this treatment. No employee should be allowed to repeatedly harass and disrespect drivers who are simply trying to do their jobs. I request that this matter be addressed immediately and that corrective action be taken against Jim for his continued mistreatment of rideshare drivers. If necessary, I am more than willing to escalate this complaint further. I expect a prompt response and a resolution to ensure that I--and other drivers--are treated with basic decency and respect while conducting business at this location. read more

Not a very good representative of the Jewel chain of grocery stores. Pretty on the outside, but janky on the inside. It seems like they are trying to save money by not having enough stock people on staff ... most of the shelves were not blocked and fronted, and they were out of numerous items. If it had been before Thanksgiving - maybe an excuse, but now it is just bad management. What things they did have, they usually had one of. Not a very busy store but I think the Food4Less 100 yards east of it is taking their business. The Food 4Less is much better managed. While I would stop at this Jewel for an emergency item, I would not go out of my way to get here. Just not well run ... . Most of the bad reviews are within the last year, so maybe the pandemic really hit them hard. read more

The employees at this store are miserable. There are never enough cashiers, the prices are high, and orders are not ready on time. I just received a call from the store yesterday accusing me of stealing 7 pounds of chicken tenders. I placed the order in the morning for a 4 PM pick up. The poor woman working in the deli did her best, but I had to wait 30 minutes until my order was ready. I rushed to the self checkout lane to pay and the register froze after I scanned the tenders. No one came to help. I picked everything up and ran to wait in a lane with an actual employee at the register. I received a nasty voicemail from the store while I was carrying in the tenders LATE to a party asking me to come back to pay for them. This is my favorite Jewel Osco to shop at in the area. The store is clean and rodent free (unlike the 183rd Kedzie location). The shelves are always stocked well, and I am able to find products that the other stores do not carry, such as Kombucha and Gluten free products. They have a big salad bar, and the Floral department has a beautiful section of flowers. As far as the customer service, the majority of the cashiers are very nice and pleasant. Unfortunately, I do not like the service desk manager. I believe her name is Maria. I find her to be very rude and unfriendly. She never greets me, thanks me, etc. She even puts my money on the counter instead of handing it to me. I've had many negative experiences with her. read more

Clearly I know my number .So the cashier plugged in my phone number again ..It never showed on my app nor where the coupons applied on the last 2 purchases ....so are the cashiers plugging in there numbers and receiving the points ?? There are many closer Jewel grocery stores to where I live, however, I go out of my way to come to this location. The staff is always pleasant and helpful. I've made friends with a couple store team members in Oak Forest which keeps me coming back to this location in particular. This place is the worst if you do a catering order. We placed an order for a wake. So keep that in mind as we are already grieving the loss of a loved one now we are grieving the fact they can't even make our mini sandwiches. Anyways I called early that morning to move the order pick up to 2pm Instead of 2:30pm the lady didn't even ask for our name! She also said it was no problem. So I said "don't you need a name?" This Jewel is fine. They're always well stocked and the people are nice. The bakery is pretty good. But the hot bar at this one is always terrible. I think they keep it pretty fresh during lunch. But if you come after work to get wings for dinner, don't bother. As you can see from the pic, it's not edible. They should just pull the wings rather than have gross old ones sitting there. I ordered a pan of chicken 2 days prior to my event and when I went to pick up this afternoon they had no order. That was the last straw. The deli which once was awesome has became ridiculous. I used to shop here almost without fail. I knew I was probably paying more for the same groceries I could get at a Walmart or elsewhere. But it was convenient, fast and friendly. Now that they have taken away the self checkout option and seemingly reduced their checkout staffing I now purposely avoid shopping here. It's always a long wait - even for a quick pick up of something small. The "express lanes" are always backed up and the regular lanes are worse. This is definitely the nicest grocery store in the area. The employees are nice and always say hello to you. It's sad that friendly employees are the exception these days. It's something as simple as that which makes a difference in your shopping experience. The setup in this store is really nice too. It's clean and well stocked. As I was leaving, I noticed the manager was up helping to bag groceries and greet the customers. Now that is not something you see everyday. I would greatly prefer that they had a little larger choice than simply fried chicken and two soup choices though for their hot fresh food items. I just have to write a review for this Jewel. For years I have been shopping here and they have never let me down, especially a shot out to the deli and the bakery. There have been times when I had to call them at the last minute for a tray of something and they have always gone out of their way to accommodate me with a smile. I appreciate them so much. All of the employees of this store have always been so helpful and I have been shopping their for 35 years!
