Green being good to go, yellow being problems needed to be look at in the near future, and red being problems that needed to be addressed right now. All with explanations and questions further answered by the manager who explained it to me well esp for someone with no car knowledge. The manager was really upfront with me telling the costs of those repairs and if I was looking to buy a new car it might be cheaper to get a new one. I've had mine for 11 years that's been on multiple cross country road trips and I was not responsible enough to do good maintenance on it. It really made me trust them. I did not feel like I was getting hustled whatsoever which is something I'm sure everyone fears going into the auto shop. Not to mention they were dog friendly, had free coffee, and a record player with various records available for you to play. I got my vehicle within the hour. They gave me a new air freshener, thank you card with a company pen / business card inside, and they included a keychain with a punch card for a reward after some visits. Like wow! I was nervous and wasn't sure if my car needed a tow, but it definitely needed some duct tape and zip ties to hold my bumper together as I could hear rattling noises. Guy, the lovely gentleman that helped me, was very friendly and knowledgeable...he was also a mechanic, which made it even better as I wasn't sure what was wrong with my car at that exact moment. He was calm and acknowledged that I could get going without having to tow to the nearest mechanic shop. He didn't try to rip me off by having me towed when it wasn't necessary, since a tow is by the mileage plus the $75 fee. I had called all the local mechanic shops in Blaine and everyone was full, they couldn't even take me in....I felt stranded. Anyways, Guy patched my bumper up, checked under the hood, assured me my car was safe to drive and off I went and managed to get back into Canada. "We don't have any affiliates" to help you (they might of lead with that and saved me a lot of time). There is another tow truck place in town, Meridian Towing. I called them directly and had my car home in a half-hour. Guy (the owner) couldn't have been nicer and his son, Perry, were two of the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet. I just can't thank them enough and I will be calling them directly for any future car problems!

This shop is always asking for reviews so here goes. Had a transmission replaced about a year ago…read more Within a year of getting the transmission replaced it felt like it was slipping so we took it back in. They said it was a cracked engine block. After 2-3 weeks of waiting for parts and waiting for it to get fixed they ended up replacing a condenser (just found this out on the phone). Went to another shop for an oil change and was told the transmission lines were leaking. When I tried to have a conversation with the office manager at Birchwood, I was told it was normal to have moisture on the lines after the condenser is replaced. I wanted to if it was normal to still have "moisture" after a week. She didn't know. She said the mechanic said it was a mess under there and I asked if the mechanic cleaned all of the old debris from before off. She said she didn't know, I should have asked for the mechanic. I told her last time I tried to talk to the mechanic; he told me he doesn't talk to customers, so I asked for her. She was so polite that she hung up on me. Fun Times. Guess I will be paying another shop to correct whatever issues this shop may have missed in their failure to complete the job.

The repairs were covered by my insurance and a check was mailed to Birchwood. Upon receipt of the check being sent, they refused to release my vehicle back to me. I have two children under two and needed my transportation so I went into the shop to pay the bill in full out of pocket and they still refused. They would only accept payment in CASH. Now, I do understand withholding a vehicle until there is cash in hand (although I provided a receipt with check number and issue confirmation) but to ONLY accept payment in cash was beyond ridiculous and disrespectful. They say credit cards are accepted yet I was unable to pay for services rendered because they would have been too inconvenienced to refund me the difference once the check arrived. I will never recommend this shop regardless of the high quality job the mechanics did on my truck.
