We called for maintenance the evening before (Easter Sunday) and Eric was here there very next morning. He was very friendly and addressed all the issues in a professional manner. I had a 10:30 appointment i called when 8 arrives 10 minutes early to let them know I was there. The AI phone system recorded the call. 25 minutes later I was still there. I called again and the AI assistant tried to contact a real person. Got no response. If this is the way they handle potential renters, how bad is it when you need maintenance? read more

We had a malfunctioning smoke detector that kept beeping. Kory showed up almost immediately after the maintenance request was sent, determined the cause, and proactively replaced all the smoke detectors. Nice and quiet again! read more

Pros: The stars are for the staff, maintenance and all the friendly residents. Cons: All the Kasa (Air BnB) guest apts spread throughout the building. There are for ppl on vacation, so you can imagine. Often loud on their balconies throughout the night. I wasn't informed there were 3 around my apt when moving in. Been here 6 months and the added a 4th right above me. Moving furniture, stomping, running well past 2:00 a.m., so Mon day at work is going to be fun. I've been forced to confront these guests because, to be fair, they are on vacation and unaware. I've called Kasa for help, but I'm not sure they did anything. Berkshire offered to move me (to an equal or smaller apt) at the current higher rate and I still need to pay 2 months extra for breaking lease, so basically I was offered to pay MORE to move. I've been carefully documenting everything for legal reasons and I advise you do the same when moving in here. Also, the building is aged and the used shoddy materials during construction. Cheap wiring for my Heat/AC and it went out in December and January for an entire month. The pipes often burst in the parking decks and will close due to all the water. The pipes burst in the gym and that's been closed a while now. My advice: There are new places opening around this same neighborhood. I'd try there first. If you do decide on here, make sure you are informed where all the Kasa guests apts are. read more

I'm not sure how this facility has such great reviews. Yes, overall the complex itself appears beautiful but the cleanliness and maintenance is horrible. I need a mask to go to my car in the parking deck it smells so badly. The photo of the liquid coming out the door of stairs is the over flow from the dumpster two floors above it....it's seeping through the walls and down the stairs!!! If my bf wasn't in the process of moving out, we'd report it to the health department. I have to pick up my dog to get from my car to the elevator or after taking her for a walk due to the dirty floors. Pool stays closed. This was a temporary twice a month home while my bf traveled and we are so glad his lease is finally up. And unless you have a compact car, be ready for dings and scratches on your vehicle because the parking deck is small and poorly designed. read more

Couldn't ask for a better location, maintenance staff or leasing staff to be in your corner. I've been a resident here for 5yr+ and am excited for the not only the new upgrades we have, but the new upgrades to come! We have beautiful amenities available and walking ability to groceries, urgent care, food & entertainment, and shopping. They're dog (pet) friendly and not just because they have to be, they truly care and also have on-site security in addition to their gated garage. Just signed another 15mo lease and excited for the fun times to be had in this area! read more

I've attached some pictures from the last Berkshire event but I'm reviewing Berkshire as a whole. My boyfriend has lived here for the last few years, so as you can imagine I spend a lot of time at Berkshire. It's been nothing but lovely. The facilities are clean and well-decorated. The amenities range from pool access to wine storage to a decked-out gym. The building is very secure with FOB access to get into every entrance. There are a ton of restaurants and stores around the apartment building, so it's easy to walk anywhere should you need something. I've also been really impressed with how quickly the maintenance staff respond to requests. There are a lot of fun, well-planned events throughout the year that allow you to get to know the Berkshire community as well. The photos I've attached are from a pool party that was moved indoors. It turned out to be just as fun and included a silent auction, photobooth, unlimited bar, and buffet table from Brixx. Really enjoyable! The only issue I've had is with parking, as it tends to get really tight and hard to find a place to park. Overall, great place to live if you want to be in central Raleigh! read more

I had a difficult situation that came up, and I only had one week to look for a new apartment. She booked the tour with me immediately and helped me find an apartment I could move in within 3-4 days. Even throughout the whole process, she was professional, thorough, responsive, and reliable. I accidentally texted her off the clock, and she even quickly responded to me the very next morning. Avoid this place at all cost. In addition to the horrible parking, they will tow your car even if left behind the gate in the resident parking. My daughters car was towed because she had rental, even after we notified management. When we moved our we received a bill for excessive holes in the walls, even though I personally patched and sanded every hole, broken blind (was broke when she moved in) and new stovetop (have no idea why other than it was used) The absolute worse plan in Raleigh I have ever dealt with. To start with, I am a current resident, and have lived here for a year and a half. 1. The parking is terrible, and has just recently been exacerbated by Berkshire implementing "reserved parking". This allows you to pay for premium parking, and is an obvious way to make more money from residents who already disappointed with the parking to begin with. 2. Even worse, on your average day 1/3 of the elevators are not functional at some point. Looking through my email, I've received 30+ emails from the complex in the past year and a half regarding an elevator being broken. This means that, combined with reserve parking, it can often take 10 minutes to travel from your car to your apartment. While the staff are helpful, the reply to this will probably one offering to fix the issues- but read through the other negative reviews, and you'll see that plenty of other folks have reported the same issue without resolution. read more

This apartment complex is in a great location, as you can walk to many restaurants and stores. The fitness center and pool are the best I've seen during my apartment hunt. Brandi was extremely helpful with answering all of our questions with the move in process and getting set up. The maintenance team is also extremely timely. Everything about this place is great. The only thing that wasn't amazing were a couple cabinets were beaten up and there were a couple scratches on the walls here and there. Other than that, this place is amazing! read more

I've been here for a little over a month now and I couldn't be happier! The location is so perfect that I don't even have to use my car. The gym is the best I've ever seen in an apartment complex. Bristina at the front desk has helped me with my move in and she's been great! The maintenance staff here is the best I've ever had after living at many luxury apartments. I put 2 work orders in throughout the day yesterday and BOTH times the work orders were completed within an hour and a half which is insane! Alvaro and Herman have been helping me with all my move in maintenance and every time they're extremely quick and professional! I highly recommend living here you will not be disappointed! read more

The fire alarm has gone off 10 times in the 11 months I have been here and just went off 2 times in the past 24 hours both between the times of 11pm and 5am. 5 stars for building, amenities, apartment finishing, staff (both office & housekeeping) gym and grounds. It's truly a great and comfortable place to live and would be absolutely fantastic if not for.... 0 stars for fire alarm system and elevators. Honestly, I can't count how many fire alarms have gone off since moving in. It's easily averaged once per month. Pressure switch broken, water nozzle broken, electronic system this or that. At 150 decibels at 1:15am it's enough to give you a heart attack. On top of that, they can never seem to cut it off in less than an hour. All this in the name of safety? How safe is it if everyone ignores the alarms because there are countless false ones? No one takes ownership of this problem, not one single word ever from corporate management on this issue. They simply don't care. The fire alarm situation is so awful that the overall average is 1. If you have a heart condition, high blood pressure or your cholesterol is creeping up - stay as far away as possible. If you don't mind getting shocked & stunned awake regularly in the middle of the night - this place is for you. This place has great potential if they can ever fix the fire alarm system. read more

What a beautiful facility. Unfornuately my experience was one of disappointment and concern. The staff was always kind and helpful when approached, however when a serious issue came up concerning mold, the treatment became very different. I would encourage anyone looking into potentially renting, to have an independent mold test done. Currently North Carolina law is not too supportive of mold issues. When asked for testing, the apartment complied with no issue and had it completed. When asked for the results, we where told that they would not disclose their findings. My concern is: Could there be more serious issues? What happens down the road? Are others at risk of potential mold related issues? We contacted several managers, ALL had the same line - "We will not discuss the report or allow you to have a copy" A copy is all we wanted, thats it, nothing more. Remember I said it was a great experience before a serious issue came up.. I don't know about you, but black mold or mold of any kind seems to serious. I get that there are several types of spores, I get that there are different reactions , but what I don't get is why they want to avoid disclosure. Is its truly policy? After all, we asked that the test be done. I just want a copy for my childs medical records. Their ANSWER - This will be the last of the conversation, you will not get a copy. Again, beautiful facility, but I would encourage you to have an independent test done. Chances are its fine, but what if you don't know and become sick while living there? I wish I would have had an independent test done. At least I would know either way. Something to think about! read more

A great looking building and complex but having moved in we are very unhappy with a lot of little things. There is currently a fire alarm deafening me and it is 2am, this has happened a lot and is a regular occurrence. You can hear your neighbours beside and above you every step or movement even throughout the night. The staff are horrendous, "oh I'll look into that" is their answer for everything, suggestions or even straight forward questions. We've been infested by ants in our apartment, we've had our toilet blocked every few weeks, there is a communal area that was meant to be for free but is now $50 to rent. The storage units I enquired about were $30 and when I confirmed I wanted one a week later they increased the price to $50 a month. Seems to be a lot of penny pinching going on that in the long run will have a high rate of staff and tenant turnover read more

I can honestly say that I have not experienced worse customer service, ever. My husband and I walked in, ready to lease an apartment. The woman was with another employee. They both looked at us and looked away. As we continued to stand there, we were Rudely told "sigh..... give us ten minutes". We were not invited into the sitting area to wait, which we had to walk around and locate ourselves. At the ten minute mark, we went back and another person was in there with her. She rudely dismissed us again. The customer service was absolutely awful for such a high end place. We found other nicer places as we continued our search. Goodness! read more

I am reviewing the berkshire because I have lived here 6 months and had 2 water leaks with my ceiling cut open. The second leak just happened and it took 3 DAYS for anyone to do anything and this was running water in my apartment!! I told management my furniture was getting ruined and she respond back with that's what renter insurance is for. I've never experienced such disrespect from somewhere your paying to live. I would highly recommend looking somewhere else. I even received a note offering to have my apartment cleaned and guess what that was taken back too. Having friends that live across the street have issues, the management there has been extremely considerate I would recommend looking there first. read more

Great location, but worst experience. While the building is beautiful, I unfortunately lived at Berkshire Cameron Village for one year. Issues began at move-in when the leasing office was closed and I was unable to get into my apartment. Upon entering, it was dirty and still needed the main wall painted. Next the fire alarms. Numerous other residents have commented on the unheard of amount of fire alarms that go off, hopefully they are fixed now, but during my stay residents had to exit the building in the middle of the night at least 12 TIMES! This means getting dressed for the cold, rain, whatever the weather may be and sitting on a curb outside. This issue was getting better towards the ending of my lease. The next issue happened when pipes leaked in the parking garage on my car ruining the paint and costing $3,000 in damages. This can be confirmed by numerous other residents who faced the same issue. Work orders take forever to be fixed, I submitted six work orders for the same issues, had a broken toilet in my studio apartment and was told it was a non-emergency meaning i had to use the club house bathroom for 24 hours. Finally, what has sent me over the edge is the collection bill just received. I moved out in may and in writing gave Megan, the property manager, my forwarding address. Once turning in my keys I received no other correspondence since my move-out, until yesterday. A collection bill after never receiving a bill, never getting a list of what is being charged, and no proof, all of which is required by law. Do yourself a favor - GO ELSEWHERE read more

I am reviewing Berkshire Cameron Village because I was given incorrect information when signing our lease and the local management and the upper management would not acknowledge it and come to a middle ground agreement. When signing our lease, we made it very clear we were likely not going to be able to fulfill the lease - we inquired what was the penalty for breaking the lease ? We were told you'd "pay nothing because you are not receiving any concessions." We asked this very specific question more than once and got the exact same answer. We would owe nothing. Even on our lease, two spots where there's a box to check if you have to pay a penalty - it was NOT checked. And below that box, a space indicating what you need to pay if you break your leave - that space was blank. The manager sited those particular spots in the lease when telling us we DID owe a months rent. When we told her our lease DID NOT have a box checked or an amount sited, she did not mention those spots in the lease again. Only place in the lease was a statement that we'd owe a months rent, and we did give Berkshire an extra month's rent, because we gave them 60 days notice not just 30 days notice. We were told they send us to "collections" if we did not pay the additional fee. So hence the reason for reviewing their apartment. We were completely mislead and no one would talk to us and have a shred of customer service to their resident. We were baffled. Other complaints ? - freight elevator for the moving in / moving out is the SAME elevator I'd use on a daily basis. So technically, they do not have a freight elevator. Frequently I'd have to take the stairs or go to another elevator. This fact was not revealed to us when we inquired about their freight elevator. On the day we moved out, another resident became annoyed and got very irritated because we were consuming the elevator from 8am to 1pm on a Friday. We told him we were sorry, but please complain to the front office. That's the way Berkshire does it. Very inconvenient to a lot of residents! - elevators are extremely slow. All residents complained about that issue! - ceilings are incredibly thin. We were frequently bothered by the noise above us. - the garage on the main level (behind the gates) has a large amount of trash just piled up. Sinks, wooden pallets, a complete mess. We pointed out to the manager a month and a half ago, and she said she'd talk care if it, and nothing's been done. - while we were living there the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night for at least 20 minutes. A few days before, it had gone off again. It was miserable. read more

Do not live here. There are several better apartment complexes in Raleigh that are equal or better in value (and have better management). I've lived here for over a year and the management in this building is awful. Megan and her staff are not timely in responding to emails, maintenance requests, questions. Some of the newer staff are incredibly rude as well if you stop by the leasing office to ask for something. I have never been more embarrassed to live in an apartment complex (especially for the price). The fire alarms have gone off on accident at least 20 times since I've moved in a year ago and Megan and her team still have not worked to resolve this issue. The walls are incredibly thin so you can hear neighbors' conversations, cooking, TVs, water is not very clean. The TVs in the gym go out all of the time, there are always dirty dishes and cups in the demo kitchen from events. My parents visited a few months back and they actually decided to stay at the Hampton Inn downtown after one night because of the noise, the water, and the fire alarm going off at 3AM. The only benefit of living in this community is that you are within walking distance of restaurants, bars, groceries, coffee shops. My advice to Berkshire is to hire a new manager and work on improving the building. But I will not be renewing my lease. read more

Honestly this is the only place I would live in Raleigh. Coming from NYC I needed something close to everything. The grocery is across the street, bars within a few min walk and shops all around. The staff in the building have been great and always quick to respond to requests. Plus they have events in the building scaling from a free breakfast as you leave for work, to wine tastings! Not to mention the amenities in the building are top of the line. I've met a lot of great people in the building as well, lots of young professionals making it easy to make friends if your new to the area. read more

My wife and I have lived at Berkshire Cameron Village since August of 2015 and have been through all the bad things that are part of the older reviews. Well we are still here because it has changed dramatically and we are glad we stayed as the building has great amenities and is in a fantastic location.
