We had a stray bullet lodged itself into one of our walls at our home in Oakland. I sent out a video to Jerry who rapidly contacted us to provide us with a quote for its extraction and wall repair cost. Because his pricing was reasonable, I booked him immediately for the task. Jerry came in as scheduled to further assess the situation and constantly communicated with me about timing and dates. Eventually, he came in with one of his staff to carefully open the wall in small chunks and spend 30mn to 1 hour looking for that stray bullet. It was no pleasant task but I appreciated their perseverance that eventually led us to finding the bullet! What I was the most impressed with, was their attention to detail. They fixed the wall so meticulously, you'd never know there was any damage. Moreover I really appreciated interacting with Jerry who is incredibly saving when it comes to wall (even windows) related project. He simply is a gem! Jerry and Team were awesome. I asked them to plaster a new unit and patch a bunch of ceiling holes / openings. Skim a wall, match texture, etc. etc. I had a few contractors look at it and none came close to time commitment and a sense of "i know exactly what needs to be done and i can do it in a short amount of time". Day 1: A team of 6 came in and mounted all the drywall (approx. 1500sf). they wrapped the drywall around pipes leaving no gaps. Absolutely amazing. Day 2 & 3: Taping and fixing my DIY mistakes Day 4 & 5: Sanding, texture matching Day 6: Final inspection The work area was always clean, contained. Arrivals, departures were well documented. It's a family owned business, and on the last day Jerry and his dad came out while I was painting. I asked for a couple of additional things and they did it without questioning. They even gave me some pro-painting and drywalling tips along they way. I'm super happy with the outcome. From now on, I don't think I'll request additional quotes. Jerry and his team just finished a job for me, plastering my living room walls. The walls were originally a rough texture and we wanted them smooth. The team put on three coats of plaster, sanding between each coat. They arrived on time on the days they said that they would come and were very friendly. They cleaned up after themselves daily. Jerry provided great tips for how to maintain the walls, including what kind of paint and paintbrushes to use. He is a very easygoing, flexible, honest, reliable and talented contractor. A true pleasure to work with. I would utilize Bernal Hill Drywall again without hesitation and I will definitely refer them to my friends. This is a long overdue 5 star review that I'm delighted to write for Bernal Hill Drywall! Jerry, Jose, Larry and others on their team did a phenomenal job creating a thick soundproof wall (with an opening for a soundproof door) to separate our open room from the kitchen. I wanted a thick wall built with super high STC rating requirements as the room was to be converted to a music studio such that there is the least amount of sound leakage from/to the outside as possible. Prior to contacting them I was reading a book on professional home studio construction by a reputable author and I was happy to find that their construction methods and materials are remarkably similar to the book's recommendations. A few weeks after they finished the job, the 230lbs sound-insulated studio door arrived from the factory, and I asked them to install it on the new wall which they expertly did as well with similar great attention to detail, making sure there are no gaps for sound to leak in/out of the room. Their craftsmanship, professionalism and attention detail is truly second to none, and it shows in their high quality work that they really care about every detail (I measured the end-result by playing loud music in the room with the door closed and seeing the sound attenuation with a Decibel meter from outside the room.) In fact, I was so happy with the end results that I contacted them again to tear down the remaining 3 other old walls in the room and make them thicker with similar sound treatment to the wall they installed earlier. The whole process took a little over a week between walls teardown, installation of sheetrock/quietrock, mass loaded vinyl, sound clips, insulation, closing down the walls, dehumidification, adding the required wall textures, baseboards, crown molding and door trim. Also, Larry is a licensed electrician who did a great job reinstalling the electrical outlets and light switches on the thicker walls, as well as replacing some regular outlets with GFCIs for the safety of the more expensive studio equipment. Throughout the whole process, their communication was top notch and I appreciated how they took the time to explain to me the progress and the reasoning behind each step, alongside additional helpful construction/painting tips for the future. Jose has over 40 years of experience in the industry and I learned quite a lot from his explanations! My wife and I are considering some more drywall work in another room (to replace some old insulation) and they're our goto company as long as we remain in the Bay Area. I want to highly recommend Jerry of Bernal Hill Drywall and his father Jose for any construction/renovation work that one might need. My home is a 1907 flat in a Victorian with a long hallway connecting all the rooms and ending in a large kitchen. The hallway is adjacent to another hallway in the apartment next door. The wall was lath plaster and had no insulation, so a lot of sound traveled between. I got a few bids, some coming in lower, but I wanted someone who was professional, organized and neat who could finish the work fast and so I selected Bernal Hill Drywall based on other recommendations. Jerry was great. He gave me a start date and the first day I got a calendar of when and what work would be done and what days would have the most dust. The wall and wainscoting were demoed on the first day. The rest of the work finished in 3 weeks and 1 day - exactly on schedule. Throughout the process the crew kept doors covered in plastic and cleaned and vacuumed after work each day. My neighbor was concerned about dust traveling next door, so I had Jerry contact her directly. He treated her with respect and worked with her to address all her concerns. Our engineering and construction company HKZ Consulting Engineers, LLC recently hired Bernal Hill Drywall to remodel the master closet in a high rise condominium in the South of Market Area in San Francisco. We have been delighted with both the process and the results. Working as a real estate developer and property management consultant, We have worked with a number of other sub contractors and we know when we are working with someone who knows their business and takes genuine pride in the quality of the work they're doing and that certainly describes Jerry and the team he works with. We wanted to get bids from other drywall sub contractors for our remodel just to be thorough. When compared with the other bids, I was very impressed with Jerry's pricing and the level of detail outlined in his bid. Another big factor for me in choosing the right dry wall sub contractor was the lead time involved for the renovation. Most of the other sub contractors couldn't work within our time constraints - which was to have all of the remodeling completed in one week. We knew it would be tight but Jerry and his team Jose and Gerald who are brothers have a combine experience of 30+ years in the drywall trade absolutely pulled through for us. The new master looks amazing, and both are so much more functional than they were before. We were absolutely delighted (and surprised based on experience with other sub contractors) that the remodel stayed on schedule and within our budget. The remodel consisted of the demolition of the master bedroom closet and was put back together again with new drywall and a new seamless soffit to cover the existing MEP systems. Jerry and his team helped source all of the equipment and materials required to complete the entire remodel which can be a handful if you haven't done it before. All the work performed throughout the remodel is of the highest standard and we enjoyed working with Jerry and his team. We also really appreciated how hard they all worked towards keeping the remodel on schedule and within our budget. Drywall is an art and in order to perfect your craft you need to have a lot of experience to create a flawless end product and Bernal Hill Drywall has proved to us it can be trusted with this specialty. Bernal Hill Drywall has been great to work with. I've used them on several occasions to do work on two different homes. Jerry is very professional and dependable and, most importantly, takes great pride in his work. His pricing is fair and the quality and timeliness of the service is excellent. The first time I worked with Jerry and his crew was during a remodel of a home office and sun room. He did a fabulous job on the ceilings and walls and worked well with the other subs. Working with Jerry was a pleasure, he and his team are very friendly, courteous, prompt, and do great work. When I screwed up and forgot about one section of drywall that we realized was not covered up by cabinets/backsplash, Jerry returned that day and did an incredible job with 5 minute hot mud - which is exceedingly difficult stuff to work with, so the cabinet installation could proceed on schedule.
