Toms Painters just completed an exterior paint job for my house. They went above and beyond my expectations. They found dry rot in places I had no idea were present and it all got repaired with excellent workmanship, all included in the contract. My other neighbor down the street went with a different company and had over $6000 in overages because of dry rot. The painter was meticulous, professional, and paid attention to every detail. Because of the materials and how varied the stain was, I was really apprehensive about attempting to change a kitchen that we had just installed at a great cost. Toms Painters is hands down the best painters that I have used. They repainted 8 interior doors and patched a couple of holes (from old drapery rods). The doors came out perfect!!! It is smooth and like factory painted - they took down the doors, brought them to the backyard, sanded them down, and later spray painted them. The patching for the holes - you cannot tell that there were ever any holes in the wall. Also, they were very neat and clean - they laid down paper on all the flooring, covered all the furniture, and placed plastic on the stairs. When they were done, there was no dust. Had a great experience with Tom's Painters last month. I contacted them early July and Maria came soon after I spoke and walked me through the process and got the estimate in a couple of days. Maria also recommended some colors for our house and we loved it. Tom came the first day and told us what to expect. The workers spoke limited English but communication was never an issue. You can always reach them by phone and Eric comes by everyday to help and give us daily updates. And google translation is great. Our house is an old house in the Sunset District with wallpapers that they removed and needed a lot of work done before they began painting. My kitchen required a drywall repair and the ceiling to be repainted due to a water leak that was caused by the upstairs unit. My husband and I obtained several quotes and decided on Tom's Painters because of their fair pricing and friendly service. They were transparent and communicative about how long the service would take and what would be involved. Overall, they did a good job on the drywall repair and repainting the ceiling. It was estimated to be a two day project, but there were some areas that needed to be sanded and touched up which required an additional two days. While this caused a few days of inconvenience, I appreciated Tom's kind and prompt response. He was able to get his painter back onsite within a few days to address the issues. read more

I recently had the pleasure of working with Tom and Maria to paint our 1600 sq ft 2 story house. Their customer service and attention to detail was top notch. Maria was very very patient with me as I selected the colors for my house and answered every question that I threw at her in a professional and helpful manner. I'm one of those people that take forever to pick something, and Maria made plenty of suggestions to help my selection process. She even came by the house and applied samples to the wall so I could see the actual paint in person. When it came down to the painting crew, they were very respectful and always asked permission whenever entering and exiting my home. They were super friendly and worked in a fast and efficient manner. Their attention to detail was amazing, as I couldn't find any part of the house that didn't have paint coverage. They even took the time to put up the new house number sign that I recently created. I saw them removing portions of my trims that had wood rot and fixing them as well. After the latest interaction with Tom the painter and his continued pattern of dishonestly, including denying that we were a customer, I feel compelled to add this update. First of all, as the pictures show and facts dictate, we indeed hired him, much to our regret. His attempt to say that he did not work on our home is a perfect example of the pattern of dishonesty and unethical business practices that we experienced. I had to leave our home during the holidays no less while our home was supposedly being painted. When I came home - after he walked off the job - I came home to the terrible mess that you see in the attached pictures and there are many, many more pictures and videos that document what happened. I was in dire needs of a kitchen update color wise since my cabinets had gotten stained over the last two decades and I had gotten tired of the beige (yellowish) look of my cabinets. I spoke to a few painters via email / on-site and out of all of them I felt most comfortable working with Maria as she was very detailed oriented and answered all my questions during the site visit and afterwards via email. Her bid came in the mid range and I read the reviews so I felt comfortable. Vitor and Matea were my two painters on-site and they were very detailed oriented removing all my cabinet doors; sanding, priming and painting off site (saved me a lot of mess I'm sure). They brought the pieces back and finished up the kitchen frames etc. and re-attached everything. They also installed the new hardware I had purchased. I was very pleased working with them, they were courteous in my house at all times, wearing masks and removing shoes before entering.  My biggest annoyance are contractors walking into my house with shoes on, (I have carpets and cannot stand it).  I am very happy with the end product and feel like I got a new kitchen. I would definitely recommend this company and also told my neighbors about them! FYI, tried to upload before and after photo's but Yelp would not attach them; (5 photos didn't upload) - which is too bad since other Yelpers cannot see the work in progress or the end result :( read more

Fantastic! We are so happy we went with Tom's Painters to paint the front of the house. The whole process from quote to finish was painless. We received a very fair quote that was lower than a few other painters we had contacted. While we were initially worried the lower cost would translate to lower quality, but that was definitely not the case. The job was done well in terms of quality and efficiency. The crew who worked on our house was so nice. We were impressed with their ability to paint around a recently installed wall/fence without getting any paint on it and also not leaving our old paint color visible. Kudos to Victor and Maria for their skill. The communication we received throughout the process was excellent. We had received our quote earlier this year, but had to wait to paint until recently due to some other work that was happening on our street and in front of our house. We really appreciated that they could handle our job within a week of my call. We had a damaged Victorian crown molding and repaired plaster work on the ceiling. OVERALL: Tom's Painters patched, sanded, and painted the walls and wood trims of two bedrooms in our home from 7/26/21 to 8/2/21. Maria was highly competent and responsive, and Warlen was a punctual, meticulous, and courteous painter. We're very happy with the team's professionalism and the quality of their work, and we plan to reach out again when we're ready to paint other rooms. BACKGROUND: We sought a team who could fit us into their schedule and complete a job within a month. We submitted a request on their website. Maria promptly responded to schedule an in-person consultation. During her visit to assess the job, Maria came across as very experienced and knowledgeable. She determined the type of walls we had (wooden lath & plaster) and clarified what would be straightforward vs. challenging -- e.g., it would be extremely difficult to preserve the original decorative plaster moulding on the top of the walls, and we'd be best off removing them. To address our time concerns, she broke down the project duration by phase and explained risks (i.e., paint may dry more slowly if the air is particularly wet/humid). Maria sent us a written quote by email the following day, including a detailed job scope from prep to paint to cleanup, as well as some paint options at our request (we were overwhelmed by the palette walls at paint stores). After we accepted, she let us know that her team was able to get started a week earlier than planned. We were able to finalize our paint selections within 48 hours of job start. JOB: Warlen was the primary person on site. He always arrived on time or a few minutes early for the agreed upon daily start time of 8:30 am. He was considerate about minimizing disruption to me while I was on video conference calls for work, either sending questions by text, consulting my wife if she was available, holding questions until later if possible, or quietly getting my attention as needed. On the first day, Warlen and Maria meticulously prepped the first room and the entire hallway to the front door by fixing thick paper to the floor with blue painter's tape, from wall to wall, and helping us move large furniture to other rooms to avoid spreading dust. From there, Warlen opened up walls where major cracks appeared over the decades and filled them in with mud/spackle. On the next day, he repeated that process in the second bedroom while the first room dried. The next days were spent sanding, painting, letting dry, and painting the final coating. It ultimately took a few extra days because of the weather; Warlen once came at 8:30 am and left less than 10 minutes later after assessing the walls hadn't dried sufficiently. Warlen had an associate assist with the painting; we had the window trims, baseboards, doorframes, and doors painted an off-white, while the walls were painted a different color per room. The painting quality looked great -- consistent finish, clean lines around the trim. Warlen and his associate completed the final coat of paint and job cleanup all in one day; Tom came over to assist. Maria stopped by the morning after for a final walkthrough and to assess some perceived damage left by the painter's tape from fixing the paper to the floors, but I decided it was almost certainly due to the age of the floor rather than the painter's tape (which is pretty much the lightest possible tape). read more

We hired Tom to pressure wash our San Francisco home including outside windows and also to restore/re-paint a bathroom vanity that was poorly done from the factory but fully installed and we thus wished to keep. They did a stellar job on both fronts, and Tom, his wife Maria from the business office, and the crew were all most friendly and personable, if at times a bit English-challenged on the part of some of the crew. My high-school Spanish once again served me poorly, alas :-). This posed no real problems, however, as they were excellently competent and efficient.
