Our church was built in the 1960's, and the concrete walkway has cracked, eroded, and was in dire need of repair. With limited church donation budget and a small congregation, we saved money and the church board researched options and vendors for a year. After reviewing all the bids and cross referencing with other previous customers, the board decided on Bernardo Concrete. The team was amazing pre-work and consultation; the wonderful and happy crew was on time and completed on schedule. The new slabs of walkway are even better than before, with rebars. We had some spots where we accidentally damaged after completion, and the team came back to do spot repairs fitting us in their busy schedule. We are fortunate to be graced with such good work. We had the chance to interact with all the teams...very dedicated and committed to doing the best for the customers. Everyone was great to work with at Bernardo Concrete, I would certainly use them again. Sales, staff and day of workers were great and friendly to work with. After I paid them, we found a sprinkler pipe that accidentally got broke during demo. and nobody knew. They came back to fix it, no questions asked. Crew and equipment are terrific! Trucks and equipment are clean and well maintained. You can tell they have pride in their work and the company. Junior, the foreman on my job was organized and worked effectively with the crew, subcontractors and the city inspector. Debris from demolition was removed as soon as it was generated! I hired Bernardo Concrete to do some much needed patch work in the floor of our commercial warehouse. Their crew showed up on time, and with the proper equipment and staff needed to complete the job quickly. They exceeded my expectations by doing some additional saw-cutting to make sure the edges of the patches would last, made the patches even thicker than I expected, and also drilled the adjoining areas to insert re-bar and better reinforce the new concrete. I'm always nervous about construction companies or in this case a concrete company. I met Barry who owns the company and found it him very informative, very knowledgeable & practical about his crew and company. Barry explained to me their philosophy being upfront with their clients and explained that good planning means they are one of the fastest concrete companies in Orange County. Which I then asked about the quality? He explained to me and showed me what typical companies do (inexperienced companies who subcontract) can take long breaks and extend the schedule out which is not good for me. He showed me properly equipping and preparing the crew means you're in and out quickly. I was also interested how? 1 day service. (He's had his crew for many years there) When I saw the finished product he showed me several photos it was amazing to see the quality of work. I'm not sure I will need a cement company in the future again, but it's nice to know there are professionals out there. I shopped several others who offered little insight and lots of promises. I have been in my house for over 35 years. The old concrete was damaged from years and overgrown tree roots. I finally decided to get some work done that I'd been wanting to have done for years. I had two estimates and decided to go with Bernardo Concrete. Gabe did the estimate and he was very friendly and competent. Once the job was booked I was in communication by phone and text with Junior. I was at work while the job was being done. Junior went over everything with me. I came home to find the job was in clean up mode. They had removed my driveway and concrete pad behind my garage and replaced them. They had removed and replaced the steps on my front porch which had always been too steep. They had also removed a few other places with concrete that I wanted removed. I had an issue with the size of the pad behind the garage. Junior had the crew back in a few days to make the necessary changes and even brought in some fill dirt at no extra cost. Finding a company that had the skill set to do an ADA compliant ramp for a small business was not easy. Residence ramps don't have to be precise as do commercial ones. Many ramp construction companies I called didn't want to bother with a small business. I had horrible neighbors who were making my life miserable and I hired Bernardo's team to build a block wall separating my property and blocking out noise and nonsense. I called him and he came out right away to estimate the job. I was surprised and how affordable he was compared to some of the other estimates I had received. He was AMAZING. He was affordable, knowledgeable and he even handled my horrible neighbors so well when they tried to cause trouble. Barry was still more than happy to review my project plan and suggest a modification which reduced the cost by a staggering amount. 5 stars is not a high enough rating for the service I recieved. Bernardo Concrete Inc. has a great webpage. But, as mentioned in a prior review (Jan. 25, 2011) they had an issue with courteousness and professionalism. It would appear as though nothing has changed since then. After making several calls and text messages and a subsequent appointment (setup with Barry Perez) for a potential job quote. He has failed to perform in making his scheduled appointment and neglected to call for a re-scheduling of a new appointment and/or to explain why he failed to make his appointment. At this point, I would ascertain from his actions that he and/or Bernardo Concrete is not interested in any additional work, and therefore seems to have more work than they can handle. My recommendation "at this point in time" would be to look elsewhere for a more professional concrete contractor for your job. read more

We used Bernardo to do concrete work around our pool, patio and driveway. Other companies had said that the saw cutting next to our pool was too difficult, but Bernardo came in and did a precise cut, taking out the old damaged concrete. They then laid in brick coping around the pool and did a beautiful job, making the pool look like a million bucks. We also had roots from an old tree that had lifted the concrete driveway in sections and had lifted and distorted brick edging around the front landscaping. Bernardo did a great job of taking out all the old concrete and pouring in new, moving and adjusting brick lines and edging in the driveway. It looks perfect. They also took out the old roots and re-layed all the other brick edging around the front yard. All of the work they did was to help us restore a house that had been neglected for many years. They were professional, did better than promised, and did it at a really competitive price. When we have concrete or brick work to be done, we will absolutely use Bernardo.
