TLDR: Go for the wine, stay for the ambiance, come back for tastings with Joann. :-) Really cool winery tucked away amongst trees, hills, and other greenery. I went here for a tasting for an early Mother's Day (5/13/23). The website allowed purchase of times every 30 min, but truly it should've been at the top of the hour, so when we got there we needed to wait a little longer which was no biggie. For the "inconvenience", we were offered a complimentary glass of our choice in wine and allowed to try a couple before getting the full glass which was appreciated (Dog Days is a must for those that gravitate to the sweets). I also got the small charcuterie board, but would likely opt to bring in my own snacks... or a box of pizza *takes mental note* in the future. We didn't have a tight schedule, so the push in time allowed us to see their outdoor courtyard which was very nice. As a note they did try calling and left a message for me regarding the adjusted start time, I just hadn't gotten to it prior to arriving. The lady who greeted us at the entry (didn't get her name, curly hair and glasses) was very welcoming from when we stepped in and her help with getting us familiarized was appreciated. Our tasting was the best we've ever had and it had everything to do with Joann. She was AWESOME and is a gem. So bright, lively, and informative. We tried a mix of the sweet and dry wines each with enough to get a good taste and taste each other's pick. At the end of the tasting she let us know about the wine club and raved about the Tawny dessert wine. We tried some and actually purchased two bottles of it before heading out, thanks to Joann. The whole experience was beautiful! We did a tasting with Olivia she was so knowledgeable and Sweet we signed up to be members. The wine and pairing was Delicious! The people were so sweet everyone of them, I love that the owner really emphasized on everyone being kind, it felt good to be there. Everyone was so welcoming, the live music was wonderful! And they loft was more than beautiful and comfortable. We will definitely be back. We actually learned about this place at the sip and stroll in Katy Texas a couple of weeks ago, That lady was very inviting and made us curious to come. We have a bad experience on the Wine testing,. We make the reservation 4 days in advance. We have scheduled at 1 pm. They testing do not started until 1:30 pm. And when we get there the lady was rushing the group. Basically she just serve the sample wines without any explanation. The whole time she was just saying "you need quickly drink your wine, because is another group coming, and we need to finish with this". I think the whole testing was just 15 minutes. I love the ambiance of this winery, the local vendors have unique and delicious offerings I purchased 2 differently acacia breads that were incredible! Fab 5 is a favorite of mine & this is the only local spot I can find them playing at!!! They do offer a good amount of scheduled live music but I do wish they didn't run out of advance ticket options leaving you to pay more upon arrival but I always enjoy the outdoor music venue overlooking the vineyard. read more

Beautiful place! Very busy with weddings and wine tastings going on. We were very disappointed with our tasting experience however. We had to stand outside in the 90+ degree heat. If I had known that I probably would have passed. It was not fun. We were all sweating and the red wine was warm. No. The ideal temperature for red wine is 62-68. (Google it) she was very knowledgeable about the wines but sped thru them quickly. Then we got the tiniest pours I've ever seen. Maybe a tablespoon of wine. Later we sent to Cork This in Montgomery. I would like to take up permanent residence at Bernhardt Winery! My husband and I drive from Houston at least twice a year, usually with an overnight stay as they are also a Bed and Breakfast. May 13 was the first Soleil Wine Club pick up party and it was a blast! We tasted a "young" Cab Sauv and one of their Ports from small oak barrels. There were four pizzas to choose from, fresh made in a wood-fired oven. We had our pick of the entire wine inventory to build our four. As Soleil Wine Club members, we saved 10%! It was great fun and I highly recommend you join as soon as possible because I overheard an Insider suggest there will be something very special to select before Christmas! A friend and I looked forward to going out to the winery for their advertised event featuring Mimosas. What a huge disappointment beginning with the girl taking our order. She gave us the bare minimum regarding information and even added the I don't know shrug for good measure. There was no welcome extended to us at all in addition to the poor description of what we planned to purchase. The advertisement for the winery promises a unique experience. Ours was a far cry from being even acceptable. It doesn't take much to be pleasant and welcoming when you are in the business of hospitality. I would suggest a course on how to make guests feel welcome and how to communicate about products being offered by the winery. read more

We visited Bernhardt Winery as part of a 3-part tour from the Brazos River Valley. I'm happy to say that this place was by far the best in our tour, but also sad to say that because this was the last stop, I was a little wined out and probably wasn't able to enjoy the wines here as much as I had wanted to. The venue of Bernhardt itself deserves a star. It has a beautiful interior and various maintained plants and greenery around the entrance make for a quaint and cozy atmosphere. Archways with vines and plants climbing their way up the stone bricks creates a feeling of secrecy. There is outside covered seating as well as a couple of rooms inside for events and wine tastings. While we were there I (perhaps creepily) kept taking glances over my shoulder to witness part of a wedding ceremony that was taking place in the room next to us. Watching the bride take her father's arm and walk down the aisle was such a beautiful moment that I will always associate with this place. Bernhardt has a variety of whites and reds, and we blew through them a little quickly but the Cabernet Sauvignon and in particular the Conquistador remain in my mind. The latter had a unique smoky aftertaste that lingers on the tongue in the same way it lingers in my mind right now. I've never tasted anything quite similar to it. Overall Bernhardt is a professional winery with a good selection and I'd like to get the chance to visit again for one of their concert nights. read more

Came with a group of 12 ladies for my 32nd birthday and had such a horrible experience. I own a party bus company in Houston and we decided to take one party bus to the winery and have a great time. The first thing that we hear from Trish when we walk in is, oh have y'all been barhopping? Mind you it's 2 pm! I paid for everyone so there wouldn't be multiple transactions, as a courtesy. Once everyone was done using the restroom, it was like she was trying to get us out of her way and told us to go into a big empty room which was their wine tasting room which had two bars that tastings were done at and a long table. Our tasting was nice and the lady who did the tasting for us was super sweet. We had ordered their $80 charcuterie board and here comes Trish with her nonsense saying that she would just set the board on the long table in the big empty room for us to eat there. Mind you the grounds were really pretty and we wanted to enjoy the board sitting down not grazing like cows standing over a table with no chairs. So we asked if she could set it up outside and boy was that an inconvenience. FYI: we were all wearing heels! Fast forward the tasting was over, we walked outside and we saw where Trish had set up the charcuterie board, we were walking down as she was walking back and asked if they could send a server over with the menu or bring us waters, she literally laughed in our face and said that we could get it ourselves and kept walking and she threw her hands. This lady should not be the first thing that anyone sees when they enter such a beautiful winery with her customer service she needs to be in the back bottling the wines and placing the labels on them as I seen them doing today on their Instagram. What a shame that they missed out on opportunity to have 12 ladies return and potential business with me. Bottom line, Trish needs some more customer service training!!!! This was supposed to be the end and highlight of a day of wine tasting. And driving up to the winery, it looked like it would keep that promise. The area is laid out beautiful and invited to hang out and relax with a good glass of wine. Coming in, however, provided a quick reality check. Our party of 6 was told that having individual tastings that are not all going to be the same was "too complicated" and our host (not sure that term applies) bossed most of us into doing what she wanted whether they liked it or not. When we then tried to buy a bottle to drink in the outdoor area we were first told, not to "bother the wedding reception" that was going on, like we would do that. And after picking a bottle, we were told we couldn't buy a bottle at all. So we left with a big letdown when the rest of the day was really a great experience. read more

Found my first visit to Bernhardt to be mostly pleasant and friendly. The one exception was during a recent outdoor concert event. The elderly woman in the Christmas antler hat at the wine sales table was incredibly rude! Being my first visit, I was not familiar with their selections. Instead of suggestions, she was full of impatience, piss and vintager. I will be back perhaps, perhaps not. She needs a lesson in Texas friendly. I've passed this winery many times on the way to college station and finally decided to pull off the 105 and give it a try. I paid ten dollars for a wine tasting which had generous pours and allowed me to try a few additional wines over the 6 I was promised. The grounds are well maintained and has multiple nice patios. The night I came they were holding a concert in the lawn and had a couple food trucks. I recommend this winery to anyone passing by! Good wines and scenery! read more

We had our wedding at Bernhardt on 2/20/2020 and I just can't express enough how amazing it turned out! To be honest, we knew when we first went to the winery that we both automatically loved this place and decided that same day (and our first venue to tour) that Bernhardt was where we were going to get married. The Event Sales Manager, Andrea, was such a blessing! She made preparing for the big day so simple and was always willing to answer any question I had. All of the staff was so helpful and kind. This is a beautiful place! Even if you're not planning a wedding, it's the perfect place to come on a weekend and tour the Winery, do a taste testing and listen to live music. Well I'm certainly late to know about Bernhardt Winery. For shame! Not only do they have a fantastic staff, but the property itself is worth 5-stars. A lush green lawn, trees galore, flowers; it really is a beautiful space. And they have a B&B, which you should take advantage of in the case you over imbibe. The wine tasting starts at $5. I only sampled two of their cabernet sauvgnon and instantly purchased two bottles of the reserve. Give it some time to open up and it really is a good wine (and not just for Texas wine standards). They also have olive oils, balsamic and other spreads to taste. Def buy their raspberry balsamic! From now til mid November, they host a Sunday concert series; tickets are $10-15. Do put Bernhardt Winery on you list of summer staycation activities and check it out. read more

Sherri and I snuck out of town and had a romantic getaway at the Bernhardt Winery in Plantersville, TX. We also made the trip into Old Town Spring, TX and listened to awesome music from Davin James and Richard Leigh at Puffabelly's. What a great night! The Bernhardt Winery is one of the best kept secrets. If you are anywhere near Austin, Houston, East Texas, etc. you need to check it out. Jerri, Jerry, and Barre Bernhardt are very gracious hosts. The place is beautiful! Beautiful rolling hills. The Loft, the guest room where we stayed, is so comfortable, warm and cozy. And the wine is absolutely delicious! Cute winery but since there was no music that Sunday our experience consisted of a tour and wine tasting; both with our young guide. She was bubbly and enthusiastic but bad mouthed the "slightly nutty" and "drama queen" owner who thinks he is related to the silent movie star of the same last name, "but probably isn't". She went on to tell us about a gentleman who would be taking over but she was adamant that he "just keep running the winery and not the business part" for whatever reasons. It was not professional and we were uncomfortable with this negative attitude about the place she was representing. We do not recommend. read more

One night stay in the loft for myself and my girlfriend so For a first time visitor I'm fairly new to the winery experience. Beautiful grounds, romantic atmosphere the loft room is beautiful and secluded. Definitely a nice little tuck away not far from the city. I'd say for a small family operation they had a much bigger selection of wines than we anticipated the cheese tray was great and the staff although they were overwhelmed with the in and out daily tasters they were Very gracious and attending. I've been to a couple wineries in Napa and this one is much different. Definitely screams Texas - not in a bad way. My 2 girlfriends and I chose this place because it's more like a vineyard than a winery with land to explore. We came on a beautiful day and got to sit outside and absorb the beautiful property. They have chairs set up outside for a wedding and small tables around for you to sit at. Not my ideal location for a wedding, due to personal preference, but I definitely wouldn't mind attending one here haha. We did a wine tasting for around $9. You get to taste 6 different wine options. I do have to say that our lady was pretty stingy and inconsistent with her pours. I received very little and one of my friends received sometimes double and sometimes the same. But I guess since it was $9... it's okay. She was really friendly and informative. Would I come back? Only when the weather is nice enough to sit outside :) read more

Trisha really ruined this place for us today. We had a great day of wine tasting in the area and this was our last stop. While they had a good selection of okay wines, the service really changed the taste of the wine. I had a hard time enjoying any of it. She forced our group to taste the same wines only to make it easier on her. She didn't know much about the wines and was overly rude and impatient with our group. It was a mess and I'm not sure I ever want to come back, which is a shame because the grounds were beautiful and the wine selection had great potential. read more
