The buffet was not worth the price. The only thing that was really good was the bang bang shrimp, hush puppies, Mac n cheese and the salad bar. We also ordered crab legs and they were worth the add on. Everything else was very salt that it made me not want to get more. The atmosphere was good and service was great. Hubby and I have passed by Berry's Seafood & Catfish Buffet numerous times in our travels and finally had the opportunity to give it a try. If you've never been here before, you don't have any clue what kind of place you are entering; it looks like a big metal barn from the outside. When you open the doors you are first greeted by an expansive waiting area with bench seats that gives you the feeling of being outside with a huge blooming artifical apple tree smack in the middle. The walls have "windows" with flower boxes that adds to the outdoorsy effect. When you enter the open dining area, your first impression is of being in a farmstyle courtyard surrounded by different buildings with farming equipment on the roofs as decorations. Huge trees with twinkling lights add to the outdoor ambiance. The staff was very attentive and friendly, greeting us as soon as we entered, explaining that you can sit anywhere you like. We never had to wait very long for our waitress to get us our drinks or check in on us while we ate. So let's move on to the food; Berry's has a great selection of hot, freshly prepared Southern fare. I was impressed with the variety and quality that was offered. The fried chicken and catfish were Excellent, crispy, succulent and nongreasy. The salad bar was well stocked with a variety of salad toppings and prepared salads to choose from. My standard for a great salad bar is eggs and beets, which were present. My two observations would be to have the food identified. I happened to grab something in the shape of a meatball not quite sure what it was, and it happened to be a crab cake. Somebody with seafood allergies would want to know that. An easy way to remedy this is to write the names on the glass shields above the food. I also was expecting beautiful, luscious shrimp from the looks of it, but the texture and taste were off-putting. I don't know how they were prepared, but I did not enjoy them as I was hoping to. Now I was raised eating all types of seafood, so I know what I'm talking about here. Desserts were plentiful and tasty, from pies to cobbler to cakes. They even have a big five gallon tub of real vanilla ice cream to scoop from on the corner of the dessert area. All in all, we really enjoyed our visit and will definitely return on our next pass through Mississippi. read more

Parking lot was crowded so we decided to stop in for lunch. Place was clean. Already packed full at 11:45 am. Fried shrimp was wonderful. Boiled shrimp needed spice. Lettuce for the salad was looking a bit lower class. We passed on it. Fish was just ok. Nothing special. Waitress was spot on. Ice tea was great. We were not ready for the price tag at the end. $53.23 for two adults kind of caught us off guard. Never saw the price posted anywhere. For the small amount my wife eats it wasn't worth it. Would you believe that we drove from Canton Texas to Hattiesburg Mississippi so that we could go to Berry's Seafood for dinner? Dave and I have been basically only eating breakfast and dinner on this trip. I tell everyone that he keeps Daisy and I captive lol! and only lets us out once in a while. So this is a real treat as we are on our way to the campground. There is a beautiful salad buffet of which I didn't partake, saving my appetite for the fresh seafood, shrimp, oysters. pork chops, blackened catfish and veggies. There are two kinds of soups, gumbo and etoufee, fresh tartar sauce and clarified butter. I blew my whole keto diet in one seating! Dave took samples of the dessert bar, too many to mention. Coconut cream, peach cobbler, cheesecake etc. Our waitress Chloe was a doll and made sure our drinks were refilled and always asked if we needed anything else. I've passed this place probably 100 times in my travels but for some reason never stopped but last week I was starving and catfish sounded good so I made a point to finally stop and wow wth was I thinking all those times just passing this place. The second u walk in the sheer size of the massive free span room almost takes your breath away. It's huge and filled with some really clever placed trees and well as a full life size replica of Mayberry. The owners must either be related or huge fans of the show because it's everywhere u look. Personally i thought it was all really cool and a nice change. The food well it was incredible. The catfish was cooked perfectly and wasn't trashy looking gray like some places I've been. Their catfish was super white and flaky . The Mack & Cheese was really good and really pretty much everything I tried was stellar. The banana pudding was probably my favorite dessert. What I really enjoyed were the staff. Everyone I talked too had some of the best customer skills I've seen in a restaurant in a long time. I even loved the plates and cups they use. My sweet tea stayed ice cold in those steel cups I almost asked because I wanted to buy a few to take home . What a surprise... seafood buffet in the middle of Mississippi. The family arrived at 4:00p when the restaurant opened. This location has a large dining room. Our server was attentive and kept our drinks filled. The buffet has a wonderful selection of seafood, salad bar, and dessert bar. Love the fact that there was not too much fried seafood placed out at once (to keep things fresh), but the food was replenished constantly. Salad bar was fresh. The staff kept the buffet area clean and tidy. The fried catfish is a favorite followed by the fried shrimp. The gumbo had good flavor, but the shrimp was a little overcooked. Disappointing that there was no fresh lemons, only packets of lemon juice. Unless you have a big appetite, the price is a little high for just one plate ($34.00/person). read more

This is a well-known seafood restaurant that we were excited to try. It gets great reviews. It has a very roomy, country feel. There is a large buffet, but it was $39.99 on Friday nights, so we ordered off the menu. I got the fried jumbo shrimp, which came with 4 hush puppies, cold slaw, and a choice of onion rings, french fries, or baked potato (not stuffed). My husband got the shrimp po-boy and onion rings. The servings were large, so plenty to eat. Neither of us were impressed with the taste. Had to ask for tarter sauce and cocktail sauce (should have been served with it) to add flavor. We did appreciate the moral standards and music and the display of the Ten Commandments. We would like to try the buffet on our next trip this way. read more

Dreadful! This was one of the most dreadful dining experiences of my life. The reason that I gave it one star was because I couldn't give it a lower score. The sad thing Is that I KNEW what i was getting into!! Let me explain.... if you are a Christian fundamentalist with a need to clog your arteries and have your ears bleed from the bleating of overly-loud "Grand Ol Oprey" style Christian folk music... THIS is the place for you. First: the food.... I think there were only three things on the buffet bar that wasn't fried, and I'm including the plastic fork. It was horrifyingly bland, greasy, and a crime against humanity. The "salad bar" was a who's-who if opened cans of ingredients and watered down ranch dressing. Edible but that about as far as I'm willing to go. You walk in to BLARING schmarmy twangy religious folk music. If that annoys you, don't go Into the bathroom... cause they have it dialed up to 11. One can move your bladder and bowels to the rhythmic, folksy melodies of "I'll fly away" and "Amazing Grace!" I have eaten at some greasy spoons before but, holy shit!!!
