We decided to travel a little farther to celebrate my husband's birthday here last night because we prefer to support local businesses and wanted to give this restaurant a second chance. During our previous visit, the food was pretty good, although they were out of several steak options, and one of our appetizers (the meatballs) was cold in the center, as if it had been reheated. This time, we came back expecting the same steakhouse atmosphere, only to find that the menu had been significantly reduced. To make matters worse, they were out of nearly every steak option. The only choices available were steak bites, tuna steak, and pork steak. They were even out of Blue Moon. It also happened to be karaoke night. That wouldn't have been an issue if the volume hadn't been so loud that we couldn't carry on a conversation, even though we were seated in the back of the restaurant. Unfortunately, the service didn't make up for the experience. Our water glasses were never refilled, and no one checked on us throughout our meal. For what was supposed to be a birthday celebration, it was a disappointing experience from start to finish. Let's not forget the parking situation- bring an TRUCK if you decide to go. Every option is washed out and we ended up bottoming out taking one of the street spots. Even right up at the building had a huge drop at the entrance for any regular car. I really hope our car is alright. We don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, especially for a local business, but after giving this restaurant a second chance, this experience was extremely disappointing. Unfortunately we didn't have the best experience like we normally do there last night. Environment great the staff great especially with our crazy kids. Food is where the problem comes in ... I hate this happed because we come there every year maybe more on my birthday which was yesterday. The steaks were very blend (which never had happens to us it's normally the best steak ever ) the potatoes both my husband and mine burnt. The salad even tasted like it never was washed. I told our sweet waiter she took 5 dollars off very appreciated but honestly I couldn't even eat my meal because of it . So I wasted 30 dollars on food I didn't eat. My husband just bared through his food. We won't be back because of this . Sadly I had to write this because I just wanted the best for this restaurant and the community but this experience was just too shocking not to say something. read more

I cannot think of a worse experience I have had anywhere. Our server was clearly very new and lacked any training or education on the menu or service standards. The food was not at all as presented in the menu and half of what came out was quite literally inedible with half of our parties items being left uneaten. The Cattle Drive Grill & Waterin' Hole ("CDG") has some of the worst "smokehouse" entrees we have ever eaten in Mississippi. We ordered the Bonanza Brisket Plate ("BBP") and the Ponderosa Rib Plate ("PRP"). Both the ribs and the brisket had no discernible flavor. The PRP ribs were extremely fatty and too tough to eat. Moreover, the BBP and PRP both tasted like they were cooked weeks ago and reheated to order (I can neither confirm nor deny this practice). Even though the amount (i.e., size) of the BBP and PRP was significant, the overall lack of flavor and quality of the protein does not provide customers with the overall value they deserve. Let me define value for you in this circumstance. I consider value to be composed of several factors: 1) the amount of protein or vegetables--for all of my vegan comrades--you receive; 2) the quality of the protein or vegetables; and 3) the flavor of the protein or vegetables. Each of these factors is then weighted to determine whether the dish provides sufficient overall value to the customer. After weighing each of these factors, we have determined that CDG fails to provide customers with the overall value they deserve. First, the quality of both the BBP and PRP was subpar. The meat was extremely dry/tough, likely from being reheated. Second, both dishes lacked any discernible flavor. The menu states that both dishes come with a "house[-]made BBQ sauce," but it affords CDG no relief. The "BBQ" sauce was too sweet and tasted like it was a poorly doctored ketchup product. Finally, even though the dishes provided a significant amount of protein, factors 2 and 3 significantly tipped the scales away from the customer and demonstrated an overall lack of value. In summation, the BBP and PRP proteins lacked both quality and flavor. Based on this experience, I would unequivocally not recommend CDG! read more

The food was excellent and staff were friendly and knowledgeable! The steak (filet - medium rare) was cooked perfectly and among the most tender I have ever had! The dessert (apple wagon rolls) were simple but decadent and the perfect end to our meal. There is also a store next door where you can buy treats and food for your pets. Thoroughly enjoyed stopping by and discovering this place! Easy to find, fun atmosphere and live music playing while we were there made for the perfect evening. The appetizer we got was amazing! It was simple and tasty with ooey gooey cheesy goodness. Our drinks were good and all the servers were so friendly. The manager/owner came by our table to talk with us for a while and you can tell she really does care and wants her customers to enjoy themselves and feel at home. We were very impressed with the local grown and local owned business model and mentality. We need more businesses like this out there!!!
