The job was building a set of stairs in a back yard, using red pavers laid on a concrete slab. The client paid at the end of the job, though the work was not finished as agreed priorly. The removal of rumble was not done. But worse is the quality of the work. I went to check and was appalled to see the steps already caving in after only few days. I contacted the contractor, he said he would come the following week. He never did, and we have not been able to contact him via phone since then. His phone is not taking messages! The client paid $4,200 for a job that is not finished, and what is done is unacceptable. Needless to say, stay away from this contractor.

The weekend before he was scheduled to arrive, Stephanie contacted me to say that Paul was too busy to come on Monday and it would have to be pushed to Tuesday. I explained that I was moving and that Monday would be better since I need to get it fixed. She insisted that he had to come on Tuesday, and told me that he had time to both provide an estimate and both fix the fan on Tuesday. I left work early in order to get home for Paul to arrive at 6:30 PM. He never showed up. I emailed Stephanie around 7 PM and she told me that her she had emailed me but "it must have gotten caught in her outbox", but that Paul had gotten caught up in the previous job and wouldn't be able to come. I explained, again, that I would be moving and needed this fixed. Stephanie told me she didn't know what I was talking about, that even if Paul could come provide an estimate he wouldn't be able to fix it. I responded back with a screenshot of Stephanie telling me he could both provide an estimate and fix it in one day. Stephanie then promised me that Paul would arrive at 6 AM the next day to fix it. I was very clear, again, with Stephanie that my movers were coming at 7 AM and he had to be on time since I was leaving. I got up super early to be ready for his arrival... and he arrived at 7:15 AM, an hour and 15 minutes late, as my movers were in the midst of moving. He did tell me what the problem was, but said he'd have to come back and fix it. I told him he'd have to coordinate with my tenant who was moving in. I connected Stephanie and Paul with my tenant. She scheduled two times for him to come fix the issue and both times, he never showed without notice. Finally my tenant emailed Stephanie and Stephanie responded that she no longer works for 99 Handy. We purchased several natural stones for our bathroom renovation, and Carlos installed them with great care. He took the time to hand select individual pieces of stone from the 1' x 1' mesh to finish the edges of our walk-in shower. And Fred, Dave's plumber, is a gem. It's obvious he takes great pride in his work, and it really came through in the installation of the new heat and hot water systems in the basement. He even took the time to point out and explain some of the home's plumbing history (e.g. down spout for the old ice box!) We really enjoyed working with Dave. We gave him a high level vision of what we wanted, and he knew how to execute. This is our first home--first purchase and first renovation--and there were numerous times I thought to myself, "I'm not sure if we could've made it without Dave". He was timely, considerate, and always available. He gave us great recommendations for paints, fixtures, and accessories. When I happened upon Panosian Contracting, I knew I had found the best. Their work is meticulous. The owner himself keeps a close eye on the job, which is rare. Others tend to get the job and then let the workers do whatever they have to and never see what was actually done. But Steve, the owner of the company, has standards higher than mine. He will often see something that wasn't right and will fix it. Things that even I had not noticed, and let me tell you, I'm pretty exacting. The workers are polite and respectful of my home. That is also something different. I once had a plumber come in, walk through my living room and over my very expensive Persian rug in horrible grubby shoes until I quickly rolled up the rug. But the staff at Panosians is always extra careful, wear booties if walking through the house and clear space where they are going to work. They are professional and courteous. Now I only hire this company for any work that I need, big and small. They are highly responsive and always deliver. They are not the cheapest, but as I have found out to my detriment, you often get what you pay for. I once hired a roofer based on price. Of course I chose the cheapest. Well guess what? The next year half my roof was losing it and got waves in them. Not to mention that I had to spend the next two months picking up nails from my driveway. And two flat tires.
