I had read glowing reviews about this company. They are warm and friendly on the phones and did come pick up my last mower, which is great as it is too heavy for me to get in the car. That's where the quality stopped. I thought my mower would be back in a week. It was two and a half weeks. I was told they filled the gas tank. They didn't. I was able to mow a small portion of my yard two times and the mower died. They are going to repair it. Hopefully it is not another two and a half weeks. Hopefully they do fix the carburetor. Follow up: They were not able to fix the lawn mower. Water had somehow gotten into the carburetor and ruined it. I decided to buy a new mower. I tried a lawn mowing company that did a great job, but the cost would quickly cost more than a new mower. Besco sold me a new mower for a great price and delivered it. Wish I hadn't paid for a mower they couldn't fix but their customer service is exceptional. read more

Picked up my lawnmower today following an encounter with a large metal object buried in a lawn I volunteered to mow. My reward for volunteerism, I suppose. Fortunately, Besco Lawn Mower Repair was able to get me up and running again for the price of a $95 mower tune-up. The guys were all very friendly. The price turned out to be very reasonable, especially given that I was fearful I had bent the cam shaft. My only issue, no doubt a consequence of this being the busy Spring repair season, was communication. I dropped off the mower on a Saturday and did not hear anything for several days. I finally called them and they indicated it would be a few more days before they could look at it. At that time, I approved the repair as long as it came in at $95 or less. I was anxious, because a bent cam shaft would likely mean the mower was history. It's a simple push mower, but one with a Honda engine that I didn't want to give up. I eventually received a call that my mower had been repaired and that it was ready to be picked up. The guys at the counter could not fully explain what repairs had been made (not necessary, but I was curious), but could only tell me that a complete tune-up had been performed. A tune-up was needed, but I'm not sure I really needed a new starter rope... Whatever the case, the mower looks like new and should be good to go for quite some time. I'll definitely use Besco again. Communication was a bit of an issue and the repair took over ten days, but the end result was great. Certainly a lot cheaper than a new mower or than using Sears (where the mower was originally purchased) for repair. I also appreciated that Besco took the mower in for repair with just my name and phone number. No nonrefundable deposit or credit card number required. read more

So, the Yelp App tool where you can submit a brief descrip of your issue and a photo doesn't exactly work, but I still got excellent service and repair from Besco. I brought in my Snapper mower because I had made the mistake of starting it too many times when it stalled in tall grass without first clearing under the deck and around the blade. Big, strong arm + plastic starter housing = broken starter. They had my replacement part in stock, and replaced it for $70 all in which was reasonable to me- seeing that even if I had ordered the part online ($40 plus s&h), and waited the 4-6 weeks for it to be in stock and then delivered, then grasping at small engine repair (which I loathe), I woulda paid my landscaper more than the difference for mowing than what I paid Besco to fix it. I needed a new chain for my ancient chainsaw. It must have been my lucky day because he had one that was reconditioned but in much better shape than mine. Equipment: May 9th 1977 McLane 3HP Reel Mower Problems: Ignition system failure, Pull start system failure, carb gasket failure,choke linkage missing, blade clutch rod missing, belt guard missing (destroyed belt), blades dull, bed knife dull, oil filter dirty and plugged up, oil change needed Quote: $350.00 - Parts and labor Payment Method: Credit Card - VISA Purchased an old McLane (1977) that BARELY ran from an older couple out in Sun City. After messing around with it for a few hours, I decided to hit up Best Brothers for replacement choke linkage and a few carb gaskets. Long story short, I was sold the wrong parts, and lose $30.00, needless to say I won't be going back there. Disheartened, I sought out help on the almighty Google, which lead me to Besco. Later that day I have Besco a call to see if they could help me out, I lady with a very nice voice answered the phone, informed me that they work on mowers like mine almost every day, was very straight forward and reasonable with the price quote for a tuneup AND also offer pickup and delivery. Besco came out and picked my lawnmower up the very next day. I decided to swing by the shop to say hi to everyone and drop off a few extra parts I had laying around, the shop was easy to find, and everyone inside was very personable. After a few minutes of chatting with the gal up front, she had me come back and talk to Charlie. Charlie greeted me with a smile, and asked what I was looking to have done on the mower besides the tune-up, I said "I want this thing to look and run like as if I bought it back in 1977.", Charlie let me know that the services required to make that happen were going to raise the price but that he can and will do it. Price ended up being a little extra, we shook hands and a week later Charlie calls me to let me know he's going to drop it off and that it runs perfectly now. I'd like to also mention that I could not come down to the store to make my payment so Charlie willingly took the payment over the phone with my VISA information, seamless, ultra easy process. And Charlie was right. This old 77' runs on the first pull every single time. The mower is powerful, cuts evenly, doesn't smoke, and most importantly, now has all the linkage it needs to run properly. I highly recommend Besco Equipment Repair for all lawn mower/small engine repair needs. Charlie and his crew went above and beyond with this one, I can't speak highly enough of them. What can I say about Besco that hasn't been said? We have had our lawnmower repaired at another shop in town. I took it there because we had a big SUV. Earlier this year, we downsized our car and I could no longer take my mower in. My husband found Besco on Yelp and we called. Not only was our mower tuned, sharpened and the choke cable repaired, they came and picked it up and dropped it off. It runs like new and it's almost 17 years old! It's the best service we have ever received for our mower. No matter what car we have in the future, Besco will always have our business. read more

If I could give 6 I would. Our lawnmower is about 6 years old and never serviced. After weeks of procrastinating, I finally did some research and found Besco. Not only did they pick up my lawnmower, but they delivered it back to my house. I know this is cliche, but the mower looks like the day I bought it. Still trying to figure out if they replaced some of the plastic parts or just polished the heck out of them. Either way, oil changed, filter changed, blade sharpened, and it had clearly been taken apart and cleaned. All for under $100. The transaction from start to finish was no-nonsense, to the point and professional. I have bought parts for my McClane tiff mowers here for a while (wheels, cables, levers, etc). They always seem to have the new part in stock, or a used one. I also use them to sharpen my mower blades. I usually take the mower down to the shop and drop it off then pick it up when it is done. I was unable to do this recently because I had no one to help me load the mower into the truck and I found out they offer a free pickup and delivery service so I used that. Sweet! I highly recommend this company and will continue to go back even though they are several miles out of my way. The owner is always pleasant and wants to help in any way possible - like I was special or something! The ONLY drawback is that they don't take plastic (no credit/debit cards), just check or cash, so I always make sure I have a check or enough cash with me when I go. read more

Our Toro Briggs-Stratton lawn mower had been used and abused for 5 years when I called Besco. They were clear about the cost of a tune up and sharpening the blade. They came the same day and picked it up and had it back to us in a week. The mower looked and ran better than when we got it. So, apparently I'm lawn mower impaired. Who knew?!? Couldn't get my new mower to start so I drove up from Ahwatukee as there don't seem to be as many small engine repair places as there are Circle K's. Was well worth the drive. I have an older generator that I have taken in for repair to another shop (used to be called Hahns Outdoor Equipment) several times. Each time it is $300 and it runs for the trip I need it for and then never again. My son suggested to take it here, he dropped it off Monday and told them he needed it by Thursday for a camping trip. They got it done! When I picked it up yesterday, first of all Cody was a super nice guy, second they had not only repaired it but cleaned it up and it looks semi-new again. He answered all my questions and also offered suggestions on care and maintenance. He also gave me a 30 day warranty! I will 100% be back for any repair of this nature. Very impressed with this shop. Great family run small business. My Lawnboy gas mower wouldn't start even though I had replaced the spark plug and carburetor. Besco picked it up and dropped it off. Not impressed. I brought in a non-running chainsaw. As an automotive technician, I knew the problem to be the carburetor. The told me it needed a tune-up for $95 (an new chainsaw is $199). I asked what was included. I was told "everything" (including an unneeded chain). They were so busy (who knows why) they had no time to listen or answer any questions. I could fix it myself for $8.50 (and was willing to spend $75 for a carburetor rebuild). They didn't want to listen. They just wanted money. Saw all the positive reviews about Besco's lawn mower repair. Maybe that part of the business is okay. (Although the repair shop looks somewhat disorganized.) But I thought I should leave a not so positive review about buying a used mower from Besco. TL:DR: Depending on whom you get for a salesman, it can be like the Pawn Stars TV show. They even have a Corey look-alike! (Cody). Might want to run if you get him. ---------------------- So, I was helping a widow buy a new lawn mower. Had spent a day driving from store to store looking. That included a stop at Besco to check their selection of used lawn mowers. (Besco is pretty much the only game in town for used lawn mowers if you want to buy from a retail outlet.) The first salesman who met us seemed knowledgeable, trustworthy and fair with pricing. (That is, not 'usurious.') Couldn't make up our minds that day on what was best. Did more research on the 'net that night. Had the bright idea the next day to ask a professional what mower he used. "Honda." That's also what the Home Depot rents. Called our salesman at Besco and asked if he had any used Honda's. "Yes, one. $250 cash price." That's a very reasonable price for a used Honda with an unknown amount of time on it. (Besco says they have a 90-day warranty on used mowers. But given our experience below, don't know if we would bank on that should we need it.) Stopped by the ATM on the way to Besco to get cash. I should have gone in and asked for our salesman when we got to the shop. Unfortunately, Cody (owner's son) came out instead while we were inspecting the Honda. Cody was proud of the Honda and told us it was $350. (We've seen this pricing behavior before, where, ironically, Cody would give us a low price for a part, then his dad would give us a higher.) As soon as I told Cody that we had been quoted $250, he started bad mouthing the Honda. "I hate Honda's," he said. (Can't remember why. Stopped listening when I realized he was trying to poison the deal. Reminded me of Corey on Pawn Stars. Looks a bit like him too.) In the end, the widow bought a different mower (for different reasons). But Cody knew that the widow had brought $250 cash for the Honda. Wanna guess how much he wanted for the lesser mower? We didn't try to haggle and we didn't walk away. So Besco didn't do anything wrong, per se. Like doing business with any pawn star, our fault for not walking away. (Learned after the fact that the same mower on Craigslist could be bought for a third less.) Even tho our fault, I write this to suggest that if you do business with Besco, you might get a fairer deal from a different salesman there. +++++++ P.S. But wait! There's more! During the spiel, Cody offered to sell the widow a spare spark plug for her new (used) mower. $10. Told her that you can't buy them anywhere. Not even Home Depot. Except that HD sells 'em for $2.50. Surely Cody has to know this, since he can look up a spark plug's price on the Home Depot website as easily as we can. Doesn't inspire trust in Besco. I can't tell you how impressed I am by this little shop. Despite living less than a half mile from another lawn mower repair place, I drive the 9 miles to Besco based on Yelp reviews. The shop is in a strip mall on the NW corner of Cactus and 35th Aves. It was easy to find and I was greeted by an employee when I walked in the door. I explained my problem and she said that she would get me an estimate. One of the techs walked out to my car with me and we discussed possible reasons for my electric mower not starting. Once we got the mower out of the car she immediately identified a stuck safety button and was able to get the mower started right up. Two minutes to fix, no charge. I would not hesitate to take my mower back to these folks. Fantastic business. read more

I have a 20" McLane 7 blade mower that I had not used or started in over 2 years. I had a dilemma that I no longer had an suv, only two smaller cars and did not want to take the mower apart to get it to the a shop for a tune up. Let alone wrap it in a blanket because our trunks are very clean. I am sure glad I searched yelp for mower repair and found Besco especially because they pick up and deliver your mower. What a huge convenience! I called them on a Saturday and my mower was picked up on Monday. Was given a quote of approximately $175.00 depending on what they find and it would take at least 1 week. My mower was delivered Saturday morning, 2 days earlier that I was told, and the total charge was $170.00 which was less than the original quote. I love it when people under promise and over deliver!
