Cooked to perfection and seasoned nicely. Also got a dozen boneless wings. Very juicy and buffalo was nice and mild. Very friendly staff. June 18,2024. Food order: 2 burgers, fries and 1 hot dog. Only 1 burger was supposed to have lettuce and onions. Both had condiments, that were not asked for. Burger quality was poor at best. I went in today to buy two steaks 4995 was the cost mentioned the experience of the day before Alex the daughter of the owner is completely rude combative not excepting of any responsibility to the order experience. I will never darken that door again. it is garbage food at best , the butcher shop is not garbage but the store owner was standing right there and allowed her to speak on the owners behalf not OK I paid $100 volunteered. We were supposed to get our $100 back back when the store was rebuilt back and I want to say 2015 or 16 I never asked for it back because I thought that the campaign was a good one since then the stores service quality, there's nothing but alcohol in there you cannot buy a simple lemonade or even a soda in there. I had to add another review because this item is so delicious. They have a machine that dry ages meat. I have to say I've seen it before and always thought that meat looks old. Well it isn't. They have an extensive deli menu and some quick groceries. Their deli/creemee area needs a little work (it's an oddly set up space) but the service makes up for it. I'm always greeted warmly when I go in; the staff is very friendly and super helpful. Today was no different- my husband and I ordered dinner from the sandwich shop and it was an obviously busy Friday night for the kid working in the kitchen. We got our food pretty quick which was awesome! One critique I do have- the person I assume to be the manager/owner was a bit harsh on the kid working the grill. Instead of encouraging him and acknowledging the hard work he was doing to get the food out in a timely manner, he was rude with negative comments in front of customers like me waiting on our food. When we went online to pick sandwiches before a concert, it was was difficult to figure out if there were deli meats available if there was gluten free bread. Luckily the owners and staff at Bessery's Market have managed to combine the best of both worlds. Gone is the former single story market that had served the community for over 50 years. Now open is the brand new market that houses apartments, a top notch butcher shop and a completely new food operation. This is a result of the extended Bessery family putting their lives and fortunes together to make the new market a reality. Also by capitalizing on the modern crowd funding concept Bessery's offered 300 individual small investors at a $100 per share the opportunity to invest in the new Bessery's to help purchase all new equipment. All of the shares sold out quickly. In addition to offering the great meats that have given Bessery's their well earned reputation the new building was designed to increase their offerings to the general public by having a full grill and sandwich making stations. The expansion also allows Bessery's to increase their serving the restaurant community. Bessery's has always offered incomparable homemade sausages now they are able to service the local restaurant community with their fine sausages. On a recent visit lead sausage maker Jason was putting the finishing touches on a 120lb. order of Italian sausages that was destined to Three Brothers Pizza in Colchester. Jason is very happy guy with the new building. He now has a dedicated refrigerated room and specialized equipment to keep the sausages flowing. On any given day he arrives at 7AM and begins the sausage ritual. He starts by placing the casings for the days run in tubs of hot water. This helps to make for a pliable casing for filling as well as desalinating the casings. One of the things Jason is looking forward to is making Bessery branded hot dogs. He says that they'll be unlike anything you've ever tasted. The old Bessery Bus that was parked out back of the market and served up Texas Red Hots, fries, burgers and could be also seen at Arts Riot on Friday nights is history. That bus is gone. It has been replaced by the much improved new inside grill and sandwich stations. No longer will one of the family members have to run out back to the bus to cook your order. A new modern dedicated grill area is part of the improvements of the new building. Also, a full service deli counter is part of the improvements and will have all of your favorite's grinders and some new Bessery specialty offerings. In the near future look for a Growler station to be up and running, a special Vermont cheese station to compliment the handpicked wine selections. But for the old fashioned customers, rest assured that they will still have their Italian ices and will continue to scoop them big just for you. There's a lot going on here and you really do need to check out all of the new things out at Bessery's for yourselves. I visited Bessery's to pick up meat from the meat counter. Right away I was absolutely shocked at how unappetizing the meat was in the display window and almost left. Sausages were dull shades of gray, the red meat was mostly brown which is an indicator it had been sitting in the refrigerated display window for quite some time. The woman behind the counter assured me the bulk of the meat was in the back so I gave it a chance... BAD move! The "chicken cutlets" were as if someone had bought breasts from the local store and sold them without any thinning/prep. The sausages (even though they were taken from the back) were extremely gray and slimy. I'm not even attempting to cook and eat the filet I purchased. To top this whole experience off, I decided to look around the rest of the market. The first thing I picked up from the produce shelf was a loaf of bread covered in MOLD! Then paying at the register, the woman ( maybe owner, maybe friend of owner) told me they are having a hard time getting people to work there... Hmmmm I wonder why??
