Fresh mozzarella making class with Ella
    Stephanie S.

Took a mozzarella making class with Ella. It was really fun and informative. I found out the farm offers numerous opportunities and classes for children of all ages, allowing them to learn about animal husbandry, gardening, farming, cooking, woodworking, even making music. These are all skills everyone should have. They have an awesome selection of local organic and grass fed meat; they sell their own beef, plus Maple Wind Farm Chicken, Woodland Pork and sustainable wild caught salmon all at reasonable prices. They have locally grown produce as well and CSA options. In the summers, they do burger nights with music. Wish I'd known about it sooner! The cafe makes all kind of gourmet grass fed butter drinks, gluten free pastries. Will definitely check out the cafe and the burger nights in the future.

    Bread and butter farm!

Stopped by the farm driving through town. Had so many options to choose from - cheese, bread, butter, etcand farm swag. Love! Staff was great and helpful- gave us some recommendations for the area (we are out of towners). Insisted we go out back and see the brand new piglets. Great experience!

Tried several different baked goods from the Blank Page Cafe including the vanilla bean cake, pumpkin bread, sweet potato and cheddar pastry, and pumpkin muffin (which was particularly phenomenal).

While the store has a great selection of grocery items, produce, local cheeses, meats & a deli. I am continually confronted by the worst in customer service, and just plan rudeness. I would say the meat dept. is the worst! The two men I regularly encounter are curt, and always annoyed by any question I might have re: availability of something i don't see in the case, or some other benign inquiry. The other day the younger of the two was making some adjustments with shelving in the cold meat case, to the right of the small opening where one can ask a question or order something. He was iritated even before I inquired about a date on defrosted shrimp- Frankly he was really annoyed with just being interrupted- saying "Oh shit" To Me. What followed was really unpleasant as he rushed away from his case to where i was, with an response I can't even recall-given his behavior. While I cannot be any more specific about other experiences in this store, I will say it is not a welcoming experience-I never feel good while there, or when I leave-no interaction that leaves me feeling positive with shopping there. A sad thing for this particular small Vermont Market, as my experience in others is overwhelmingly positive.

The deli staff at the shelburne market could use some customer service support. I have been here…read moretwice. Both times I lingered by the counter looking at food to order and not a word from any of the FOUR young adults behind the counter. I left and came back a few minutes later (assuming they were busy) but again was ignored. No eye contact. No acknowledgment of my presence whatsoever. This time three people were working behind the counter and not one of them even appeared to notice. This is the second experience of this nature at this particular establishment At the deli counter. I should not have to holler out to staff behind the counter to be acknowledged and waited on. Unfortunately this business lost my business today and I won't be back. The prices are astronomical anyway. Groceries for the elite.

Yup, we love Mehuron's for the full cases of local cheeses, game, prepared foods, locally produced…read morebakery breads, craft beers, and so much other local goodness. But I have to give credit where it's due. There's a lot of awesomeness going on at Shaw's, too, that we need to acknowledge. Shaw's rotisserie chicken is fabulous for a grocery store -- a delicious, easily customizable dinner option if you're too tired to cook and don't feel like doing the apres ski meal out because of, well, youknowhat. . Also, they also have fresh oysters!!! Large, mature Wellfleets in Dec. this year for a mere 75 cents/oyster. (They were fresh, aggressively briny as east coast oysters are.) There are live lobsters, well priced major label products of all kinds, especially if you shop weekly deals. (Cabot cheese always seems to be on sale... and frankly, that shiznit is good!) There are fairly priced wines from major label vineyards. They are not as esoteric as some you might find at Mehuron's, but you can certainly find excellent, well-priced options for a Christmas crowd. Most importantly for us, though: Staff were so deeply kind despite pandemic / nation-wide economic and racial stressors this year. We have to give a special shout out to the really, really lovely human wearing a Pride pin who encouraged the lobsters to be more active for my fascinated 6-year old. (Frankly, captive lobsters in a tank always make me sad, but he did this from a kind and generous place.) I think he may have been the same employee (wearing a "Joe" name tag) who dressed as Santa in a kilt on Christmas Eve Day and gave my same 6-year old a candy cane. This truly made her day. (She talked about how she met Real Santa at a grocery store to anyone who would listen for hours after.) The transplant from Tennessee who worked the cash register every day we were there was friendly and cheerful to everyone, seemed to be known by everyone. The guys at the deli case were affirmatively helpful. I know what you do isn't easy and we appreciate you. Happy holidays!!
