They carry several local breweries (which saves time traveling all throughout the state to get your favorite beers) plus my favorite German and Belgian beers. So many choices of non-alcohol and alcoholic beverages that you can be there for hours if you aren't in a rush to head home to taste them. I have always known Vermont for being cold and having many good beers. Whatever taste buds you have, I'm sure you'll find something delicious here. My boyfriend had the Heart of Lothian by Drop-In Brewing at a restaurant during his business trip in Vermont. Ever since, he has been raging about how much he missed it so I decided to look for some when it was my turn to visit Vermont. I went to multiple markets and stores and had no luck. Beverage Warehouse had the beer, but they were out of stock. The clerk was super helpful and she jotted down my number and gave me a call when they restocked and even saved two packs for me. They usually restock on Thursdays so if they run out of the type of beer, wine, hard liquor, sake or etc, just check back then or give the clerk a heads up and they will notify you. It was super convenient to know that I didn't have to drive back everyday. During my visit, they even recommended another Scottish ale that was just as good, but I was very adamant about bringing the Heart of Lothian home. Beverage Warehouse is a great beer and wine store in Winooski. The beer selection was amazing, with so many Vermont beers represented. This warehouse was clean, well organized and well lit. The wine selection wasn't bad either. There was a large walk in fridge for discounted beers and wines (with some UpState New York beers in there). Heady Topper and Alchemist are sold here, but when we arrived, Heady Topper already sold out. The beers are sold by 4 pack or tray. We got several 4 packs of Sip of Sunshine and 1 four-pack of Citizen Cider. What a great find! Thanks for bringing us, H! read more

From the outside this place looks like it is ho-hum, but boy are you wrong. That discount shelf is so long and so, so, so many beers. This place a is a must stop for a beer nerd to pick up so many different things from around VT and around the world. I love the fact that they have many beers labeled by location as well (like Italy, Holland, Spain, and Japan, just to name a few). If you are in the area this is a great spot. This store is ok. I'm new to Vermont so I'm still trying to figure out how alcohol sales are handled here. I had to purchase hard liquor in one section of the store and wine in another section which I found odd. The selection here is ok. It appears they keep things in the back so if you don't see what you're looking for on the shelves you may have to ask a worker to look in the back for you which I find annoying. I wasn't impressed with the selection but beggars can't be choosers. This is the closest store from where I live so it is what it is. read more

Well, this will not be a "normal" review. To be honest, I have never even been to the store. I live in Illinois and the Beverage Warehouse is in Winooski Vermont. So, how can I possibly give a 5 star rating??? Some friends moved to Vermont to be close to their adult children and grandkids a few years ago. Buying them Holiday gifts, birthday presents and such became a pain. Then I found Beverage Warehouse and the pain became pleasure! I now give my friends a gift card from "The Bevie" which they (Beverage Warehouse) is so gracious as to mail to my friends. And, the card used to send the gift card gets a bit of personal attention with some artwork added by Jennifer. Her artwork has, in fact become perhaps the more important part of the "gift". The owner's, Jennifer and George, have been great to deal with and all the various staff have been fabulous as well. So, even though I have never been there, I'm telling you, five stars is not enough! Service like this rarely happens these days. I could just go full-on fanboy and just yap on about how Beverage Warehouse is one of the few places where you can reasonably show up and walk out with a case of Heady Topper every week and a bottle or two of whatever Sean Lawson has to offer that week. I could also go on and on about how this place has almost every beer that the great state of Vermont has to offer and give a very subjective review about how I think Vermont beers should be placed on a very close pedestal next to those from my home state of California. Despite all my reservations, I will, in the interest of Yelp-readership, try to give as objective of a review as possible. Even if Beverage Warehouse were not located in Vermont and did not have access to the awesome Vermont brews that it carries, I'd most likely shop here, due to their incredibly well-thought out beer selection, and incredibly sensible beer prices. Having lived smack dab in between PA/NJ I've come to grips with the crushing reality that if I ever want to buy beer that doesn't taste like refermented urine, I either have to pay marked up prices at a bottle store or buy an entire case of that said beer when I only want maybe 4-6 due to crappy state restrictions (PA) or I have to stroll disappointingly through a store that has reasonable prices for beers but doesn't quite have the same range and variety that their expensive counterparts in PA do (NJ) Shopping at the Beverage Warehouse solves my PA/NJ dilemma, apart from the fact that it's located 400 miles away from where I live. I suppose the only real solution is to move 400 miles closer, but I digress; in summation, great selection, great prices, friendly staff. read more

They get just about every beer going through VT, so that's a huge plus. They have, without a doubt, the largest selection of brews you're going to find under one roof. Also, they keep a Beer log on their website which is helpful for figuring out what they've been receiving fresh. They also have a liquor room, but I can barely tell vodka from rum so I'm not the person to judge the selection. The wine selection is pretty good too. I go here when I need a gift wine usually. The people working here are usually beyond helpful as well. What I don't like: They've recently rearranged their beer in a way that makes less sense to me. I spent about half an hour roaming around trying to figure out how they did it. Also, I missed seeing Southern Tier last time. I hope they didn't stop carrying it! read more

Beverage Warehouse is a must-visit store if you're in the Burlington area and looking for local beer/wine/cider. On our way home from a short vacation in the city we stopped at Beverage Warehouse after seeing online that they carried Heady Topper with no limits. We stocked up on all the alcohol we wanted from the many vineyards, breweries, and cider joints we did not make it to on our trip. Beverage Warehouse is worth going out of your way for, just make sure you have a cold cooler to keep any "live" beers (like the ones from Alchemist) frosty on your trip home. read more

They have a "steals & deals" section with some ridiculously good deals (usually around 50% off regular prices). I'm not sure where to begin......but if Willy Wonka shut down that diabetes factory and opened up a distributor, this would be the place. I myself am a beer enthusiast.....aka snob.....and even I was impressed by the sheer selection available. Heady Topper? got it. A range of Dogfish Head brews? done. Trappist brews such as Westmalle and Orval at reasonable prices? But of course. I wish I had more time to peruse the aisles upon aisles of local, nationwide, and specialty foreign brews available.....but as I was on a time crunch the knowledgeable staff directed me to a few good selections that would make my brain muscle smile. I did not shop for any wine or liquor, but the remaining 50% of the warehouse appeared to contain an equally vast array of each particular group. Also, the hit to the wallet was the same when compared to one of the local grocery stores......so considering that, it is hard to understand why you would shop anywhere else. read more

This place has improved dramatically over the past year or so, which is fantastic, because I can walk here from home in about three minutes. They've done a much better job clearly labeling prices (there's nothing worse than bringing a sixer up to register only to be told it's $20). They've hired some awesome new employees (the dude from South Carolina has been particularly helpful). And they've got in some awesome new product (here's looking at you Almanac, Singlecut, and others). Finally they've installed a growler bar, and while I haven't taken advantage of it, the menu has looked consistently good. Finally there are often gems in the discount room. I've spent the last few weeks chipping away at their pallet of Evil Twin's Geyser Gose at $4.99 a 4-pack. Despite a few warts (some dusty bottles and out-of-code product), the bevy really is a sweet spot. read more

This is one of the best places to pick up any type of beer that you might be looking for in Vermont. They have have everything from Bud Light 30 packs to some of Vt's finest brews (i.e. Lawson's and the Alchemist's Heady Topper). The staff has always been friendly, knowledgeable, and quick to suggest new beers to try out. The prices are also pretty reasonable. I'm rarely compelled to write reviews, but I recently had a wonderful human experience here. The employee, Scott, donning a santa hat pointed me in the direction of Shacksbury Cider which was already a great start to the day. However, after a crappy credit card machine ate my magnetic strip, I was unable to purchase my Christmas spirits. In a show of holiday compassion, Scott let me PayPal him some cash and paid for me. Very good selection of beers from hard to find imports to all the VT local's you would expect. They also are able to order kegs in a dizzying array. Only downside to ordering kegs is you must pay a cash which I find to be annoying. Staff are knowledgable, but they don't seem to engage customers unless prompted. The liquor side is small and typical for most places in VT. All the standard fare, but nothing particularly amazing. read more

I make an effort to avoid picking up beer or wine at the grocery store because I know a trip to the Beverage Warehouse will yield much more varied and delicious options. Their beer selection--while not mind-blowing in the context of my experiences out of state--is solid and the wines are appropriately priced. I guess part of my pickiness is that I'm a major IPA fan and they have a more interesting selection of Belgium and Lambic beers. Its not my scene, but it may be yours. I haven't had any super warm and fuzzy experiences with the staff, but they scan my items and really thats all I'm looking for. I also appreciate the big parking lot. For a state with such good microbrews, the liquor stores in Vermont sure are shitty. I mean, I guess this place is ok, and probably even above average for Vermont. Maybe I'm just going through withdrawal after living in Allston, where the liquor stores are miniature fluorescent palaces with excellent prices. Anyways, the beer selection is decent and the wine selection is above average, but the liquor section leaves something to be desired. And the prices! I guess they're controlled by Vermont?
