Arrived a little too late to enjoy a dairy farm in Vermont but found this place and was able to purchase some delightful authentic Vermont goods! Pure Maple syrup...Authentic Vermont Cheddar Cheese! I'm telling you that I made a charcuterie board with the cheeses I bought from here and let me be the first to tell you that idk what I have been eating up until this point lmao! This cheese was PERFECT and had me wanting to drive all the way back to Vermont just to get cheese, it was THAT good! Purchased other maple-y goods and was not disappointed at all Good place for tourists

Loved this place. So many jams and jellies, meats, spreads, cheeses to try and you didn't feel judged or as if someone was breathing down your neck while you browsed and tasted! We ended up buying a bunch of things and loved our experience here!

This marked our fifth year visiting the fabulous Vermont Cheese Festival. This year it returned to…read moreShelburne Farms south of Burlington for the first time since 2019; the most recent festival was held in Greensboro in 2023, and there was no festival in 2024. So it was a big welcome back in 2025, and the event -- held inside the newly reconstructed, enormous breeding barn at Shelburne (please see the photos) -- was quite a big deal. There were perhaps 50 or so vendors, and the general public was limited to just 1,000 tickets, which made it, unexpectedly, something of an elite event. (Tickets were sold out months in advance.) The festival offers a wonderful opportunity to meet the these dedicated craft cheesemakers and, best of all, sample their work. And wow, did we ever sample their work!!! We won't go detailing each of those cheeses, but please know there were many and not a one disappointed us. Other vendors offered everything from ciders to jams, sauces, charcuterie and -- believe it or not -- peanut butter. At a cheese festival? The atmosphere is inviting and rewarding for the makers and the public, and assembling such a large and skilled group of crafters in one place makes for an extraordinary moment. We congratulate the executive director of the cheese council, Hale, who did a splendid job. A couple of small issues for us: while there were a few chairs outside the barn there was almost no seating at all inside, and there was space which could have been worked fine, we think. And after a hour of walking around, a sitting break could have felt good. Also, there were food trucks selling ice cream, Indian food, cookies from King Arthurs, but they were placed placed pretty far from the barn, requiring a bit of walking. We also enjoyed the band playing outside, but they too were a bit moved from everything else. And then, it was hot -- near 90, but that's just the way it was. And for attendees, it was clearly not the temps defined this dazzling event. We're ready for 2026!

My wife and I recently had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Vermont Cheesemakers Festival as…read morevolunteers a couple of weekends ago. We had signed up to help and it turned out to be so much more than just service. Right off the bat, the food was extraordinary, what a spectacular showcase of Vermont's artisanal cheese scene! Samples ranged from classic cheddars to Gouda to pepper jack, all crafted by passionate local cheesemakers. We also discovered delightful pairings, cheese and jam was a Hit; I wasn't expecting it, but "jam is my jam," as one participant aptly put it. lol As for service, the volunteer coordination was seamless. Helping vendors set up before the crowds arrived gave us a chance to chat with cheesemakers, learn about each cheese's story, and feel truly connected to their craft. The staff were friendly, organized, and the energy was warm and welcoming. The ambiance was downright charming. Set at historic Shelburne Farms' Breeding Barn, the festival unfolded on a perfect summer day - sunny, scenic, and relaxed. It felt like celebrating cheese right in the heart of verdant Vermont, complete with the buzz of fellow cheese lovers, artisan vendors, and farm surroundings. A bit of history: This year marked the 13th Annual Vermont Cheesemakers Festival, hosted by the Vermont Cheese Council at Shelburne Farms. The festival is rooted in Vermont's rich artisanal cheese tradition, highlighting how the state leads the nation in cheesemakers per capita. It originally began as a celebration of the state's cheesemaking success a sort of "cheese carnival" introducing the public to local producers and their craft. Notably, this year's event was completely sold out tickets were snapped up well in advance, and none were available at the door. Even the general admission waitlist was full, and volunteer slots had closed early too. This level of demand speaks volumes about how beloved and highly anticipated, the festival has become. Volunteering at the Vermont Cheesemakers Festival was a fantastic decision. The combination of exceptional cheese, purposeful and friendly service, and a picturesque setting made for a memorable afternoon. It's clear why this sold-out event has become a beloved summer tradition. We'll definitely be back, with or without volunteer duties to savor more of what Vermont's incredible cheesemakers have to offer!

I was surprised to see that the ingredients included a great deal more than chocolate and hazelnut praline. Actually, I was disappointed because we all know it's difficult to get exquisite chocolate here in the United States, I thought Lake Champlain chocolates were a cut above. I looked at the ingredients after I took a bite of the chocolate with hazelnut praline filling because it did not taste right; it tasted like it had other stuff in it besides high quality chocolate and hazelnut praline filling. I looked at the label and sure enough it has a LOT of other stuff in it that should not be in it. I took a photograph of the front and back of the labels but I don't know if I'll be able to upload it. Before you buy, if you are a purist like me, I recommend you read the labels. At least I can tell you that the ingredients included wheat, soy beans, peanuts, and other things that really shouldn't have been included. I am soooooooooo disappointed. Unfortunately, I shall not be buying any Lake Champlain chocolates anymore because I want to buy the real thing. I don't want to buy American corporate reductionist products that just don't measure up. I am actually very sad ...

We were told it'd be ~20 minutes wait but we read the reviews and knew it could possibly take a little longer (it took ~45 minutes). For my Vermont Turkey sandwich, I asked for no mustard since I don't really like mustard but he told me that it's part of the secret recipe so I requested for light mustard. To my surprise, the mustard was really good and complemented the sandwich! Everything about the sandwich was perfect: the bread, the cuts of meat, the veggies. The sandwiches here are definitely a work of art and made the trip to Vermont very memorable!

In the downtown area, many cute, homey, many upmarket types of places. So many cute little stores to visit! TRULY a tourists dream! Haha! Especially if you like these types of stores...stores that have a considerable markup on their items. I imagine rent for these places is very high. However, I found that the prices at this Saratoga Olive Oil Co were NOT that bad. My roommate is a huge on olive oil. We use it in everything we cook. It's like..."omg you guys! So good for you!" So I went in here wanting to get something for him. It's a small place, so it was definitely crowded with the small group of people that were in there. Especially this woman who was sitting on the floor with like 5 kids. No joke. My brother and I were like...WTAF?!? Blocking such a massive part of the store, blocking us and many others from seeing what was on display behind them. We couldn't understand why the employees didn't say something to them. Small store, very crowded, 6 people sprawled out on the floor. What would you do as an employee??? I sure as hell would have been like..."umm, yeah, we are gonna need y'all to legit move. If you wanna chat, please take it outside. The store is too crowded for all...this" Ok, I probably would have been nicer if I worked there and I was certainly being nicer here. If I say what I REALLY wanted to say...Yelp would remove my review hahaha. Seriously, it's not the kids fault. That woman should have known better but chose to stay completely oblivious. We had to leave bc it was too crowded and we couldn't maneuver around them. We had planned to come back too bc I really did want to get a few bottles to ship back here to Idaho. Our time in VT wasn't long. So, alas, we never made it back. That's really the only complaint I'd have about this store. If you see 6 people camped out on the floor, lady showing kids something on her phone....just please ask them to ... moooove lol. I'm sure it was stressing the staff out and they weren't sure how to handle it. I should have been like..."hi! I can see you wanna say something but don't want to offend? I'd sure be glad to help you out!" Hahaha! It's a very nice little store tho. If you go to Burlington, chances are, you will absolutely go in here. If not, try to remember this review if by chance you come across it and pay them a visit. You'll be pleasantly surprised. Of course some things are pricey, but overall, not bad. I hope to return to Burlington some day. Grew up in upstate NY and this was my first time in Vermont haha. Family still in NY, so I know I'll be back to VT. Tried to make this short haha! Hope it's not too long. Check out Saratoga Olive Oil! Especially if you love to cook! Even if you don't and live with someone who does...you'll love this place and their incredible selection!! Thanks for reading, YelpOlivOilers! Cheers!

He gave us free samples of everything we were interested in and I would say if you are going to choose I would get a vinegar over an oil. The black cherry balsamic vinegar was maybe the most flavorful things I have ever tasted it is superb and the peach was also wonderful it was so light and sweet for a vinegar and I got both to improve any average meal into something spectacular.
