We were changing $300 dollars and the employee offered us a much better exchange (he said the best change of the day) if we would change $1000 (dollars) , but what he did not say is that they charge 19% commission , so when we were expecting $840 Euros , he gave us $666. As you can imagine we request to void the transaction and he refused. We called the police with my phone ... the police arrived and none of them speaks a word of English or Spanish , they asked us to give them our passport , they made a report and told us that there was nothing that they could do because there was a posted sign (we did not read) . If I could give less than 1 star I would. This place is a rip-off. However, shame on me for not asking if they charge a commission. Please learn from my mistake. While the exchange rate was reasonable for the time period the 19.90% commission rate was not. Neither was the fixed fee of 9.90 euros. Please do not shop here. Worst ever.... READ THE FINE PRINT... They would not give me back my money for nothing, trick me into trying to exchange more money for a better rate. They didn't share that there was not only a percentage of the amount but also a fee. At the end they took almost 30%. Yes it is written in small print in 6 languages so it is hard to find. I was told their system couldn't give me a refund. I continued to ask for my US Dollars back & they just gave me back my ID & the Euros. I am back at my hotel & not happy at all. He said for 126 U.S. dollars he would give me 100 Euros. While, this isn't the best rate (the airport was better) we needed the money so I said ok. Then he handed me 70 Euros. BEWARE OF BEST AND FAST CHANGE locations everywhere! My friend was completely ripped off by "Best and Fast Change" at their location at Via Nazionale 19, Rome, Italy. They charged 19.95% as commission and they added fees. Yes, the fine print is listed on a paper, but they sure don't point it out to the unsuspecting customer! The common exchange rate was 78 Euros for $100 US but my friend lost a fortune in "commission and fees" and after the commission and fees she got only 71 Euros per $100 US (and that was supposed to be a "bargain" from only 63 Euros per $100 US because she exchanged $300 US). We did the math, and overall she lost 23% of her money by exchanging it at BEST AND FAST CHANGE. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! A block later we saw numerous exchange facilities with signs that said "no commissions or fees" and we exchanged $100 US for 78 Euros (with no fees what-so-ever). LESSON LEARNED! read more
