I approached the counter intending to exchange a small amount. Instead of being told the exchange rate or the amount of euros I would receive, I was repeatedly encouraged to "make it $500" because I would receive a "better discount." At no point was the exchange rate, the value of that supposed discount, or my final payout verbally disclosed. As someone who had just arrived after an overnight international flight, I relied on the employee to explain the transaction. By the time I realized what I had actually received, it was far too late. Transparency should come before upselling. I want to express my disappointment with the company's business practices. I'm referring to the 20% commission. 1 - The small sign by the window to Inform people of the fees/commission is small and misleading 2 - All fees should be disclosed VERBALLY upfront to the customer. 3 - The receipt does not show a breakdown (is that even legal?) 4 - There should be a refund policy. For example, as soon as I disagree with the fees (2 minutes after I was handed a receipt, which is enough time to read the receipt and recover from the shock of being robbed by a "legal" entity) I was denied a refund. I walked in and asked what exchange rate from USD to euros they would give me and the guy pointed to the rates behind him, which were very good/close to even, as in the pic posted. (We were on our last 2 days in Italy & ran out and the hotel was offering 70 euros for 100 USD, so I wanted to see where to get a better rate.) I was visiting Sorrento in Oct 2023 and used Best and Fast Change services to buy some Euros located on Corso Italia 150 in Sorrento. I enquired about the rate of exchange before handing my Canadian Dollars. I was not told about the 20% fee on transaction before proceeding. When I received Euros and did my math, I received $43 less than the given rate. When I asked a question about receiving a lot less than the exchange rate, I was told that there was 20% transaction fee, which was not advised when I inquire about the rate. Buyer Beware! If I could give less than one star definitely would do so! They charge an exorbitant transaction (hidden) fee which is not mentioned beforehand. Also when asked about this the single agent working was very rude and refused to reverse the exchange transaction. My friend and I stood our ground as we felt cheated and disrespected. It got to the point where the police were called as we clearly stated we were not leaving without our money back. In the mean time I even took to verbally telling other potential customers to please use another currency exchange company's services (a few of which are in close vicinity) which they appreciated. Crooks, Crooks, Crooks! Exact same thing happened to me on July 4, 2019. Buyer beware! Do not give the kiosk person any money until they tell you the exact fees. I asked them if there were any fees, they provided my the rate I would receive for dollars. Then I handed them $300 dollar and they only gave me 193 Euros. They charged over 20% service fee on top of the rate they quoted. That is over $60 and $9.95 to change to Euro!
