My amp went out a couple months later (either due to the heat wave or my blasting my music too loud, or both) and they swapped it out in five minutes. Get it in writing. Both of my purchases at Best were spoiled when the owner added surprise charges after the work was done. I got a new radio and speakers for my pickup and when she wrote the invoice I learned that 'of course' I needed a special bracket and that labor was NOT included as she had promised. Total cost to me was more than $60 higher than I expected, almost 30% more. Second experience: the sign in front of the shop says an iPod Aux input is $99 with free installation. When mine was completed it was $178 because 'of course' that did not include the special part I needed. No negotiation. No apology. No flexibility. I resisted the surprise charge and the owner walked into the shop and told her installer to undo the job. If you do business here, get her to write out the price in advance. And good luck. While driving to lunch, we saw Best Auto Radio and decided to stop and inquire about an alarm system for our new car. Patty carefully explained the different alarms. She was so knowledgeable and refreshing - not trying to hard sell or sell us the most expensive. As busy as they were, they actually had time to install the same day. We also wanted to have 2 windows tinted so she telephoned her tint person and he came down and completed our windows. The prices were great - as I had called a company in Concord earlier and their quote was about $75 more. Wow. Needed something immediate, found them on YELP and called ... The lady told me to come right down so that they could look at the car and do an onsite assessment. I got there about 30 minutes later, they took a look, and after some consultation, moved right in to make the switch. This was all last minute on a Sunday, and you know what? It was great! If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I called to set an appointment to install new speakers in my car and have my windows tinted. I came in for my appointment, we decided on speakers and window tint, then I left. I came back in at the end of the day and all seemed well. I was in a rush, and didn't have a chance to really test out the new sound system. Well, the next day I tested the system and, in a few words, it sounded like crap. I went back to the store and demanded a refund, which they refused. Well, I went to Best Buy afterwards and asked them to take a look at the audio system. Without getting into too much detail, the knowledgeable BMW audio technician told me that the speakers Best Auto Radio installed weren't compatible with the stock Harmon Kardon audio system in my BMW. He further stated that if I wanted to upgrade to aftermarket speakers, I'd need a new amp, etc. Needless to say, either Best Auto Radio didn't have any idea what they were doing, or did and just didn't care that they were installing incompatible equipment into my car. Both scenarios are completely unacceptable. YOU'D BE BETTER OFF GIVING YOUR MONEY TO A HOMELESS PERSON THAN GIVING IT TO THIS DISGRACE FOR A CAR AUDIO SHOP!!! read more

Three years ago Berkeley Honda recommended Best Audio to install an audio jack to play music from an ipod or iphone. It worked well and we were pleased, Recently, I bought two wireless bluetooth car kits. Best Radio installed them quickly and efficiently on consecutive days in two different cars. Let me tell you the kind of place this is, if the appearance doesn't tip you. My wife bought me a new stereo for my old car, and got what she thought was a good price, on the phone. When we got there, the quoted price had, somehow, inflated, and they tried to sell us on a still more expensive unit- this, for a nearly twenty year old car. The topper though- the absolute kick in the head- was, when they finished installing the unit, I got in and turned it on and.... nothing. No power. I pointed this little problem out to them and they said well, no, there was no power because my power cord, somehow, didn't reach the new unit's input jack. I asked if, maybe, this wasn't something they should have addressed and they said (you're going to love this): "You paid to have the unit installed. We installed it. That didn't include making it work. For that, you need to have a new power cord. Do you want to authorize that?" I did not. We got out of there as fast as we could, after checking to see if our wallets were still in our pockets. When I got home, I discovered that the power cord was twisted and kinked (not by them; to be fair, it had been that way previously), and when I straightened it out, it was long enough to plug into the new unit. They could have done that, of course, but that's not the way they roll. In other words: beware. If there is anyplace else to get your work done, I'd go there. read more

Honestly, This was one of the worst businesses I've ever been too. I do take pride in my Yelp account but i can honestly say that if i had any type of nice car, personally i drive a 2003 BMW M3, and I let them touch my car and i regret it to this day. not only the speakers not work properly, the wiring job was done horribly, (wires sticking out everywhere) they took apart plastic panels and scrubbed the sides and then attempted to cover them up. then i had to go and spend more money to get those fixed. I would say it is a bad idea for sure. there are many better business's out there. if you have a car that you don't truely care about, great place go there its cheap and fast. but if you care about your car, GO somewhere else. read more

I have an older BMW in which the entire sound system stopped working. Both the dealer and BMW repair shop wanted a huge amount of money(more than $1000 for either putting in a new amplifier or a new radio (they did not agree on what was wrong). More thumbs up! Okay there are actually 2 reviews here as I went back again today. The first one is at the bottom the most recent at the top. I went back today as everything went so well yesterday. Today I wanted to add a sub woofer to my Hyundai. It came with the Infinity premium sound system and a 10" sub woofer but it just didn't have enough power to it. So I asked them to add a small sub woofer box that I could disconnect and remove when I needed more trunk space. I ended up with a 1000 watt amplifier and 10" Pioneer speaker and box installed. Patty had given me a quote yesterday and she was nice enough to cut me a bit of a break on the price today. They got it all installed and working in a couple of hours and it sounds so much better than before. They also installed a volume control for the sub woofer on my dash. The best part is if I really need the trunk space I can quickly lift out the sub woofer box and still use my old sub woofer that came with the original sound system. I'm very happy other than I forgot to get the manuals and warranty cards for the items I bought. Will have to run by tomorrow to fix that :) Thumbs up for me. I needed to upgrade an old Parrot mki9100 to a new Parrot mki9200 (bluetooth adapter for an older car audio system). I had purchased the new adapter elsewhere and needed someone to remove and replace it. I did call in advance and was told to come by in the early afternoon, The woman at the counter wanted to see the car so I showed her the old adapter that was broken and told her the work I needed done. I asked for a written quote which she gave me, and that it would only be $89. They were quite nice and helpful. I told her they could have the car for the afternoon and they called me to pick up my car 2 hours after dropping ti off. I had checked the night before what was involved to do this work and how long it would take so I knew going in what was involved. I highly recommend you always do that. It did require pulling off a good part of the dashboard to get into the radio bay so I thought 2 hours was pretty darn good. So far everything seems great and I would definitely go back again. read more

Despite what other people have said on here, I am very pleased with this business. Lifetime guarantee on labor, and very friendly. My car audio receiver was stolen so the only thing left were the exposed wires on my dashboard. I called and brought the car in to see what they could do. Labor was about $20 on its own, but since I had to buy other components to make receiver fit (connectors, antenna extensions and receiver cover), total was about $60. Not bad for parts and labor. Service was quick and reliable, exceptional quality and great customer service. I highly recommend this place if you need car audio receiver installation. Wait only 45 mins without any other cars being serviced. Call to compare price on car receiver with other ones sold online, especially crutchfield.com. Got a new HD radio and XM Sirius module installed in about two hours. Paid a bit more than I wanted to initially, but then realized it was the way to go for best quality over the long run. Mgt was good in helping me select the product. Have some glitches to work out--e.g., fading reception from XM Sirius--but these issues are probably XM Sirius, and not the hardware. I'm giving this business four stars because on the whole they do excellent work at reasonable prices. However, if you need some simple out of the ordinary work you may be unpleasantly surprised. The owner Parre goes out of her way to satisfy her customers and she has been very kind to me many times. I own a classic car on which they installed a trunk speaker system - it plays off my original AM radio. Sounds fabulous. I came back months later with a request to have a switch installed to change between the AM output and any other device such as an Ipod and have it play through the trunk amp. She spoke with her tech and he said, "Not possible." They discussed it further and offered me a reasonable compromise that would allow me to have my old AM radio with an Ipod - came with a special box and its own amp. Okay, fine it was reasonable at a reasonable price. I got a call later to find out that since I don't' have an FM radio their solution would not work so I was offered a different alternative at a higher price - basically a second radio parallel to my old AM. Again, I would have gotten a quality product. All I really wanted was a switch under my dash to change between the original AM radio and an Ipod - a standard toggle or swtich box in which you can have numerous devices play on the same audio system. Not rocket science for any neophyte audiophile. I knew this was possible (I studied electronics and once had an amateur radio license) so I dug a Radio Shack switch box from my collection and installed it under the dash myself - with velcro it took about 15 mins. It plays both the AM radio on the trunk amp speaker and I can switch to my Ipod and play it off the trunk amp speaker - not the best quality audio but that's all I wanted. I went back to the owner and showed her what I did. She was very nice and apologetic. She asked me to explain what I did to her tech and he got rude with me, saying I wanted it to play both the front and the back - which is exactly what a swtich box does - toggles between several audio devices. Duhh! He just walked away from me. I left... I'm giving them four stars anyway because on the whole they do excellent work but their tech only knows how (or wants) to do things only his way and he has zero people skills. If you want good quality sound systems from this business talk only to Parre and stay away from their tech. Talk to her and let them do the work. I am so impressed with this business! They installed a back up camera in my car the same day that I called. Sadly, it only worked intermittently and I kept having to go back for them to tweak.. Come to find out that the unit was defective! I had a problem with the Audi Concept stereo system in my TT Quattro convertible. For some reason the unit showed only the word 'SAFE' when I turned on the ignition, which I learned from the operating instructions was probably the result of battery disconnection or a blown fuse. Apparently the stereo fuses are not located in the main fuse panel on the left of the steering column, rather they are located behind the actual stereo system unit. However, I first decided to follow the security code reset procedure to see if that would fix the problem. I tried it 3 times without success using the code I had been given by the previous owner, after which the unit simply had no response. At this point I figured I needed professional help to deal with that, so I phoned Best Auto Radio & Parie, the owner, said sure, bring it in right away. William removed the unit & immediately discovered I had been given the wrong code, presumably because the owner had replaced the unit at some time but had not updated the records! After waiting for a while for the ignition system to reset, he entered the correct code & 'Bingo', the stereo came alive again ! Parie only charged me $65, & I found the service to be prompt & courteous, & my conversations with both of them were very informative. So if you have problems with a car audio system, or want a new unit installed, check out Best Auto Radio before you even think of taking the car anywhere else. read more

My factory Honda CD player displayed 'ERROR', and I could not play or remove any of the 6 CD's. I stopped by Best Auto Radio & Phone and Patty said the charge would be 1and 1/2 hour labor to remove the radio and release the CD's. Sure enough, that's all that needed to be done. They upgraded me for very little extra from a medium quality new sound system to a top quality one with no extra service charge, after I objected to the first installation. Later they installed a new radio--my 23-yr. old radio was cutting in and out--and they handheld me through all the new programming I had to learn to finely adjust it to my preferences.
