January 2026 [[HIGHLIGHT]]Julio greeted me warmly. I immediately knew I was in the right place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My pioneer sound system-Bluetooth-GPS and specifically my back up camera stopped working completely after my car flooded from the sun roof. I asked Julio to check the wiring in the trunk. Upon my return from coffee on 4th St, Julio had taken the trunk apart and checked the wiring which was perfect. Then he adjusted the main controls on the Pioneer system and connected my iphone to the Pioneer Bluetooth system so I could accept calls in the car. Julio also connected my iphone gps directions to sound through the console. I was overwhelmed with the results. Price was more than reasonable. I was invited back for free tune-ups to my now functional sound system and backup camera. I am certain that I will return to use the shop's excellent services. Definitely 5 stars! read more

Beautiful Ceramic Coating to protect the paint on my car. My car is just 2 years old, and after I paid off the loan last year, I was visiting a friend whose 15 year old car had fading and oxidizing paint on the hood. I asked them, "How do I keep THAT from happening to MY car?" We searched on Google and YouTube and the most sensible action was to get a ceramic coating put on the car. I asked two different auto body shops in Berkeley, that I had great experiences with in the past when I needed repairs after accidents, if they did the ceramic coating. They both did not - but they both recommended JG Audio. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called JG Audio, they said drop by any time for an estimate, and once we talked I got scheduled to drop the car off a few weeks later for the work.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They did need it for several days, but that's because they put a great deal of labor into polishing out all the scratches before doing the coating. (I'm guilty of driving my car through automatic car washes with lots of scrubby brushes and scratchy curtains... never again!) My Hyundai Sonata has a rare color: Carbon Blue, which looks basically black, but with blue and purple sparkles when you look at it in just the right light. I got the Gold package - 4 coats of ceramic coating. I figured, "Why skimp out now? Just get the best job done that you can." That's because, I know that if my car is looking like my friend's was... in 5-10 years from now.... I'd either want a whole new paint job or a whole new car. So, the reasonable financial logic was to pay for the ceramic coating now, while the car is still relatively fresh, which cost a lot less than a new paint job would have. When I picked up my car from them, it looked totally brand new! Probably better actually, than when I picked it up from the dealership 2 years ago. They even detailed the inside (to my surprise) and threw in a free car wash 2 weeks after the job was done. I highly recommend these guys if you're looking into getting a ceramic coating done for your paint job. I can't say anything bad about the process or the decision. read more

They spent alot of time going over my options for modifying/improving my window tinting, and using high quality 3M products completely transformed my car and driving experience in one day. Small, local shop, with very attentive staff who took time at the beginning and end of the service to describe eveything. When I stumbled across JG Audio & Alarm, I was crunched for time, and reached out to inquire about pricing on installing a new-in-the-box Sony system for my 2000 Tundra, replacing the original factory unit. (I also wanted to add a rear backup camera.) So I call and Juan answered. I ask a few questions, he's super helpful and friendly. He asks me to call Rob at the shop, saying he's out until 11/12/20. Juan was on vacation in the north shore Hawai'i!! (I apologized for taking up his time, but he was very cool about it, and we chatted a bit more about the island, where I lived for 10 years.) So I made an appointment with Rob, took the truck in, and a couple hours later it was all done! I was also looking all over the Bay Area for someone to build/fabricate an idea I had to building a removable sleeping platform for my Toyota FJ Cruiser to use in road trips. I called 4-5 places and none of them could do it. When I went to get the a new stereo installed I told Rob my idea for the back and he offered to build it for a great price. Rob & Juan ended up installing a killer sound system along with a badass removable sleeping platform with storage underneath. But here is the kicker, they work for it !!! A perfect balance between KNOWLEDGE, SKILL and SERVICE What a concept !!! They did some window tint for me on my Mini Clubman, worked with me on the different values. Since I often carry very expensive camera packages in this car we went with Limo tint 5% on the rear sides, 20% on the rear double doors and 70% on the front doors. After describing some issues with my car, he gave me a reasonable quote- replacing the radio and an interior detail on a car that has never been cleaned on the inside! He worked around my crazy work schedule to book me for a Saturday morning. It was a little bit difficult to find his place, but that's the only draw back. Juan is a really friendly and mellow guy. He's the only one working at this shop but he gets.it.done. When I got my car back, it looked like I had just driven it off of the lot. I'm SHOCKED that he was able to get all the gross melted chocolate/honey/dirt/sand/who knows what else out of my seats. Seriously though. This guy is a genuinely nice guy.
