Ron and Aaron are fantastic. Best Builders did a gut renovation and added a bedroom/bath to our 1925 2 bedroom one bath. Ron and Aaron renovated the kitchen and existing bath, replaced the drywall, flooring, plumbing, and electric throughout, added central air and insulation, redid the roof, and out gorgeous smooth stucco on the exterior. They estimated 8 months and that's exactly how long we were out of the house - even with the surprise discovery of old termite damage! The house now looks gorgeous and functions beautifully. It's a joy to wake up in the bedroom of my dreams, my master bath makes me feel like I'm staying in a fancy hotel, and my wall of cabinets keeps the house organized! Ron was a great communicator - detail oriented and at the house every day. He was even willing to jump in and solve problems himself. Could not recommend more highly. read more

After interviewing multiple contractors for our bathroom project, we selected Ron at Best Builders & Development to transform our bathrooms.  Ron was great to work with and was more than patient/accommodating in having to stop the project a couple of times while we awaited components that were on backorder (window, tub-filler, etc.).  He provided valuable ideas on how to best make layout changes once the demo started and we were able to see what was in the old walls.  He was hands-on during the project and detail-oriented; he happily resolved any imperfections we brought to his attention.  His crews were punctual, talented and maintained a clean atmosphere.   He also resolved a couple of issues that were outside of his scope and he did not change order us for them.  He was not the lowest bid, but worth the extra dollars when we consider the outcomes achieved.  We highly value his talents and cannot imagine looking anywhere else when we start our ADU project. We had Ron and Aaron's team compete an addition and overhaul of our house that included building a new kitchen and master suite. Ron was our main contact and he was extremely approachable, easy to get hold of and a very clear communicator throughout the process. We moved out for 3.5 months and the team worked extremely hard every day (barring rain) to have us back in our new home by the deadline. From the get go, Ron explained what his team would and would not do as part of the quote (for example, they did not install the kitchen units). He also had contacts who would complete much of the work that was not included - glass shower screen, iron work - professionally and at reasonable prices. As with many jobs of this size (from what I hear!), there were unforeseen additional costs. Our house is old and there were additional foundation costs due to rotten old foundations and the City suddenly requiring deeper foundations after one of the inspections. Ron clearly explained the issues to me and the amount he charged us for the extra work was reasonable. He also handled my frustration with the situation well! Throughout the process, Ron clearly cared about us being happy with how it looked and made changes requested. Also, he has come back repeatedly to fix small issues that you don't notice until you live somewhere. I would definitely recommend this team to people looking for similar construction work. I wish there was a zero star option because I have maintained a relationship longer than the kitchen that was done for us back in 2011. We had asked for a chef's kitchen from Aaron, but what we got was junk. We were charged an exuberant amount of something like $25,000. The kitchen looked really bad and was miss matched. The cabinets worked (kind of)at best for about a three days after the remodle. We have had loads of problems with the cabinets and the fact that they are done wrong according to our wants. The fact I have had a cabinet door come off in my hand really doesn't make me a happy customer. Aaron is very hard to get a hold of to correct the issues that his guys had created, and the only solution that they offer seems to be band-aids to the issues. The issue was shoty worksmanship with one cabinet glossy and the other matte. Inaccurate measurements, uneven flooring, and no color splash (that was paid for) installed. We regret ever going with Aaron. We got ripped off in big way. Don't EVER use his services because the work is bad and once the work is done he washes you off of his hands. My husband & I were in contact with Roei & Eric for over a year until we finally decided to pull the trigger on our remodel. Each time we would meet, we never felt pressure to move forward until we were ready. They were so patient with all our questions & concerns. We finally decided to move forward on 3/1/20. Yes at the very beginning of the pandemic! Our timing couldn't have been worse but that didn't stop this amazing crew. We were so worried that everything would halt & our remodel would be stalled. Hire at your own risk, they did nothing right, I'm still repairing what they did years later. The owner is the nicest guy in the world, don't let that fool you. Absolutely awful. They tried to put a lien on my house because I would not pay their trumped up charges. The owner comes in and underbids everyone after you hire him he starts charging for everything that should be included in the work to make up the price. Examples: 1.One of the jobs they were hired for was a kitchen remodel. They were told that we are putting in a new double oven. They upgraded the electrical to accommodate the oven. I had also contracted with them to replace a window in the back unit. I later had to cancel the window install. After I cancelled the owner told me he would be charging me extra to put in the oven, WHAT!!! How are you charging me EXTRA to install the oven in a kitchen remodel? Ovens go with kitchens, it was part of the original bid. Did you think the oven was going into the bathroom? Absurd! 2. Range hood. I had 2 range hoods installed. One was in the main house the other in the back unit. Both leaked after it started raining. I had to call a roofing company to redo the vents on the roof. 3. They were also to re-finish the hardwood floors. One of the main reasons to do the floors was there were black spots due to animals or water damage, I'm not sure, but I specifically pointed out the spots and told the owner that this is why I need the floors re-done. After I cancelled the window install mentioned above, the owner tried to make up the lost revenue. He charged me extra for swapping out the damaged wood planks. WHAT??? Didn't we discuss the reason for the floor job? Did you not say fine and quote me a price? At no time did this guy say, "This will be a separate charge or this will be extra". UPDATE: We were so pleased with Ron & his team's work on our prior remodel that we had them do our master suite add on. We had a set space where we needed a master bedroom, master bath, walk in closet, office, second bathroom and laundry room. We brought Ron in early to help us make the best use of the space and he did not disappoint. He helped us visualize what we wanted and some of the rooms are larger then I thought they could be! Absolutely delighted how beautifully my home remodel turned out; I urge anyone considering a home remodel to use Best Builders and general contractor Roei Gruenberg. Roei from Best Builders transformed my charming but simple post WWII tract house into one of the most elegant and comfortable custom homes I could imagine, at a reasonable price and with construction completed just over two months. I interviewed eight other contractors. Of those eight, one other also impressed me--Jim Groesbeck from Groesbeck Construction. He was very knowledgeable and seemed honest and kind. But only Roei from Best Builders showed the vision and imagination to save costs by using my existing structure. He detailed a plan that did not add square footage by extension or a second story, yet in reconfiguring the house interior, gave me the room for everything I needed, including a modern kitchen and elegant master bedroom suite. It was not a perfect experience. There were rough spots, disagreements, and other extra costs--not everything was a walk in the park. But bottom line, Roei said that once he was done with the remodel, I would not want to move. And he delivered. Details follow. Whole house (3bd/2bth) gutted house except for two bedrooms which just got new hardwood floors and paint. All the other contractors I interviewed agreed about an open floor plan. Only Roei surprised me with a different idea--to keep the front closed off and converted to a master bedroom suite from the former kitchen, guest bed, and guest bath. Then to open everything past that point so that the house would have a natural flow to the backyard. Brilliant. Further, he told me I could continue living in the house all through the construction--(that worked except for 2 weeks of hell). I am not a visual person, so I actually made him place stickers all over the house so I could get used to his dramatic restructuring. After a week walking around the house looking at those stickers, I finally got what he had in mind and decided to go forward. Here's what went really well: *the architect from Best Builders made Roei's plan very clear and easy to see. Other contractors who saw the plans were very impressed with its level of detail. *Roei created a contract that was easy to understand and was flexible when I asked to hold back a larger amount for the final payment *Construction went on schedule and workers were all pleasant *a storage container was delivered and I was given sufficient time to pack up my entire house *The major construction work was of good quality without shortcuts --specifically the foundation support, the flooring, the framing, the plumbing, the tiling, the windows, the electrical, and the ducting *Mistakes were corrected without argument, even when costly--one worker damaged an expensive new window and it was simply replaced. After construction was completed, many issues remained and Roei systematically rehired people to fix them. *After demolition and the framing and installation of windows, the house immediately took on a new shape and had a new light that was an exciting improvement. And the feeling just kept getting better as the construction continued. Here's what did not go really well: *My backyard became a trashpit, plants destroyed. Inside furniture not properly covered and got scratched *my material costs in addition to construction grossly underestimated--floor, tile, fixtures, appliances, etc. *Painters terribly sloppy--painted over everything and it took days to clean with my supervision *several small important details missing--ex. no place to put a trash container in the new kitchen! Remodeling is complex in detail, but it can turn out great with a good design, good contractor, and client willing to be present to make decisions on the details that emerge. Go for it! read more

Ron was recommended on the Next Door app and we knew as soon as we met with him that he was going to do a great job and more importantly be honest and accountable. We did a fairly large (and complicated kitchen remodel) and Ron was in constant contact and on the job site consistently. My wife and I just completed a complete kitchen remodel, top to bottom, front to back, and side to side. We met with five contractors in preparing to start the remodel, and decided on Best Builders for several reasons. They came in second in pricing, but we quickly passed on #1 because they really didn't seem to know answers to simple questions. I am "in the business", so-to-speak, working in facilities maintenance and construction for many years, and could tell # 1 wasn't the one for us. We met with Ron and Roy and from the first meeting I was impressed. They were personable, professional, had great ideas, and above all, were qualified in my mind. They gave us price and told us the job would take 4 - 6 weeks. We started and throughout the project they kept in touch, telling us what the plan was for the following few days. After meeting with several contractors, Roei and Ron were our obvious choice, not just because of a fair quote, but they were honest about the realities of what to expect for our project. We needed to add a second story to accommodate my mother having to move in with my family of four. Best Builders not only gave us what we wanted, but they completely redesigned the whole home, making it flow perfectly. Even with city permit limitations, each square foot is maximized to full potential. Roei was our lead guy and never missed a call or text, and worked with us on every detail. Ron stepped in if Roei couldn't and was just as great. For an entire knock down and rebuild, they told us 6-8 months. We moved back in almost right at six months.
