I went to best buy due to my microwave Is going bad. It is located in a plaza Off of the main road. On entering the store I was greeted by a friendly host. That is when it went the other direction. I was looking at microwaves and trying to find someone to assist. There were a wide range of microwaves. There were two guys Just sitting there doing nothing. I walked over and asked the guy about a particular microwave and he finally decided to assist. Upon assisting he finallyou helped me find a microwave that would fit above my oven range. They did not have the microwave in stock so it had to be ordered. I would say it was a great buy but certainly lack of customer service. I had better. Her accent was so hard to understand I asked could I order it at the store and she said yeas. Went to store and told them. Very nice young man offered me a $50 membership that would lower the cost by $30 The price was $579.99 + one year membership $49.99 plus tax. The receipt looked totally different! Listen, my previous review? I stand corrected. Best Buy has really turned themselves around and now it's my go-to place for tech and entertainment. And the best part? The staff here is AWESOME. Takes a normal big box shopping experience up another level. Black Friday weekend my husband and I decided to get a new TV for each other for Christmas. We ordered the TV online and came to pick it up at this Best Buy, which was a relatively easy process. They were super packed for the biggest shopping weekend of the year but the staff was on it and they were super helpful. We were loaded up and back home setting up our new TV within the hour. We set up the TV and it looked AMAZING. But after an hour or so I noticed a line in the screen. We did some troubleshooting but unfortunately the TV had a problem. So we loaded the thing back up and returned to Best Buy. It took a while (again, crowded) but the exchange process was relatively easy. Everyone we encountered was SO nice, even with the holiday craziness. After that, we've gone back to Best Buy several times for other miscellaneous necessities--cables, other gifts, etc. Today I went in to get some Switch games for my cousin for Christmas and tried to find a blu ray for my grandma and couldn't find one of the games OR the bluray so the staff searched high and low for both and helped me find everything I needed. They also had the prices marked differently from the website (check online before you buy ANYTHING, their website is slow to populate in store) so they did the price adjustments and I saved quite a bit of money as a result. The customer service at the Ann arbor location is horrible. The young woman at the front of the store was quick to tell me about the policy of having to pay $29.99 to recycle a PC monitor. I wanted to make sure that I understood what she was saying, so I simply asked, "I have to pay $29.99 to recycle this?". The young man sitting at the podium, decided this was a good time for him to get involved in the conversation and began speaking to me in a loud tone and slightly aggressive tone. As he began telling me that it is Michigan law for me to have to pay $29.99. He then loudly tells me that I have to go over to the line and tell them that I recycled a monitor and pay $29.99. Now this young man is not a loud talker, as he and the young lady were talking about personal affairs in normal tones. I then go to the register where that young man didn't even say hello or anything. Not one word. I told him I recycled a monitor. He scanned something and then waited for me to pay. After paying he handed me the gift card that they issue for the recycling of a monitor. Still no words from this young man. WOW! I don't know what has happened to this Best Buy location, but making a customer feel like they are not valued is not they way to run a business. This 5 star review is for Geek Squad at the Best Buy on Lohr Rd. I got an automatic start installed in my CRV. Ironically, not at this Best Buy. But that's because this Geek Squad location was booked solid for weeks. That did not stop Kevin Phillips from going ABOVE and BEYOND for me to help me find another Best Buy (Westland) to get my parts installed. He literally made four different appts for me and worked with me to find the best place to go. He probably made like 6 phone calls. My schedule at the time was wack, but he was so adaptable to my weird schedule and literally called so many places to find a place that worked. He was patient, not pushy, and very knowledgeable and helpful. I know very little about cars. I told him my model and he (off the top of his head) was able to tell me which automatic start to buy. He also recommended the right person to do it, who got it done in an hour (as opposed to the three hrs it usually takes). I left the whole process with a very high respect for Geek Squad. No wonder they were so booked. They're the right people to get your car installed with an automatic car start, hands down pros!! I only went to Geek Squad because a friend of mine got his car and his wife's car done by them. All of us had such positive experiences with them, I would not think of pointing anyone else to any other business than Geek Squad for automatic starts. Easy. Helpful. Professional service. So disappointed with Best Buy's app and in store support. I bought an unlocked iPhone through the app. The iPhone was "locked". I took it in to this store and was told that the wrong iPhone was shipped. Then I was told that the correct phone was shipped but just erroneously listed as unlocked. I tried to purchase another one online while at the store. The guy helping me ultimately couldn't help me buy one and told me to try another store. Best Buy used to have good if not great service. If you can't buy an unlocked iPhone there, then what can you buy? What a waste of time and energy. I'm deleting the app and will be going to Target, Walmart or Amazon for future purchases. read more

I wouldn't give it 1. We bought an in wall microwave oven and we did not receive it and have been waiting all day. They came and got our old one out of the wall and no delivery of a new one. I have been on the phone for 2 hours and have called 5 different 800 numbers. I could not reach anyone in the store and after waiting 39 minutes to be transferred they hung up on me. The store said it's out for delivery. The delivery people said the store doesn't have it. And now I have absolutely no answers. I have purchased many items from best buy and have had nothin but good things to say until..... This weekend we visited the Ann Arbor store with a return of a Samsung Freestyle Projector which I purchased in August of 2023, with this purchase we have also purchased the 200.00 a year additional warrantee on all purchases. I was so disappointed at the way we were treated during our visit buy a person in the Geek Squad named Tony. Unfortunately it was 10:00am and we were told the only appointment available was at 3:00 PM which we live an hour away so this was not feasible. We asked Tony since no one was at the service area could we be seen so we did not have to come back 5 hours later or return another day...which she replied NO. We asked how long could the paperwork take for our item to be left which she replied 10min. We again asked since no one is here can we just complete our paperwork again she replied no, we would have to make an appointment. Another person came over telling us to leave the store and make an appointment there wasn't anyone that could help us. We left this store and went to Toledo Best buy where they couldn't have been nicer, I was there a total of 8 minutes and without an appointment. The guy was so nice and my replacement item will be delivered to my home tomorrow. That's it, 8 minutes. Sorry Ann Arbor you are not so Uptown that you can treat people anyway you choose. Went there to get 2 laptops for around 600-800 each couldnt get these guys to listen to a word i said went straight to trying to sell me over priced laptops with low start but aluminum frames for twice as much then started asking another rep on what i should get so i tried to engage with him thinking he would help me could even get him to look my way got pissed and asked to speak to a supervisor the fist guy would let me speak to him until he had his say. I finally got to speak to the Sup, but he was just as useless never tried to help me find a decent laptop for my price range i guess my 1600.00 wasn't up to snuff for them. got fed up and left there. After receiving lazy service from another employee who was too lazy to pull a box down off the shelf and measure it to see if it would fit in our car and just giving me false measurements , I found another employee who was more than willing to help... his name is Chappelle and he did a great job. I Handed them my phone and asked someone to see if I missed it. I look up after a few minutes and one guy was standing where I was. I walked back and he just looked at me. I asked any luck he said "No" bummer. I asked um where is my phone he looked down and said "I did not touch it" Ok...so I asked if he could check for the tripod. He said hey we are not Amazon. Me Yes I know that but I'm here trying to buy locally. He raised hands and said we don't sell the same item and again we are not Amazon. He actually walked away. I was still looking for the darn tripod so another guy was at a computer. He was not the best but I can't complain. Then a third guy stopped me in the same area and was excellent. Offered me different options and very knowledgeable. Best Buy your trying I agree but it's a team culture that makes me buy from apple every time I walk in the store. I was in trying to investigate whether to buy a streaming device or DVD player. Maurice (Or Mauricio) made everything so much easier. Her let me know that a BlueRay would probably be my best bet. Plus even gave me advice on buying a router. I normally would have spent an hour either online trying to research all of that. Or spent time at the store trying to figure it out had he not helped me. The staff were super friendly and helpful! We were asked by several employees if we needed any assistance. They also have a wide selection of camera bags - great for traveling! The salesperson who helped us in the camera bag section showed us all of the different options and made great recommendations. He suggested a sling style bag for the camera that you can swing to the front when you want to access the camera so that you never have to put the bag down and risk someone stealing it while traveling. I've had an incredibly difficult time working with Desmond Mercer and Jason Kastanis, both of whom are managers at this store. I ordered a TV and sound bar and had them installed by the Geek Squad, but there is an I ssue with the setup that's causing it not to function correctly. I've been trying for the past week to schedule a Geek Squad technician to come take a look, but to no avail. Geek Squad's customer service department has referred me back to the managers at this store, neither of whom has lifted a finger to help rectify the situation. If the ineptitude and indifference of the managers at this store is reflective of the rest of the staff, then I can't say I'm surprised Best Buy continues to foster such a poor reputation. It was to be purchased online, and sent to our house. (Wasnt even necessary to go in store really). After i received it, i was told to call ahead and go back to the store and they could install it within a few hours. I called ahead, went in, and still couldnt be scheduled for an install until about 34 days later. I bought a washer and dryer with free delivery and installation plus haul-away of the 2 old appliances. I made this purchase through my parents rewards account.....over a month and a half ago, and although the actual purchase went quite smoothly - it has since been a patently ridiculous comedy of errors, and the job has still not been completed. In this month and a half's time, in order for Best Buy to get their hot mess together enough to do this delivery and installation job, I have had to waste 5 full days unable to leave the house for up to 8 hours (2 of those wasted days I had to take as vacation from work), there have been multiple phone calls to the wrong number, nobody could fix that. At this point there have been 4 completely different sets of strangers in and out of the private areas of my home, all who for various reasons have been unable to complete the job. There would be a total of 5 sets of complete strangers if I let them come back to finish. I had nothing personal against any of these delivery persons, nobody made me feel uncomfortable, they were all polite and acted professionally - but COME ON!!! One pair of matching appliances, purchased together at the same time on the same order, sold locally, both confirmed to be in stock. Sounds like a great deal! I will spare you the line-by-line details at this time, but I'm writing this review here after botched delivery attempt #4. Best Buy forgot to inform the drivers that they were doing an install, even though they brought me the hookups I purchased...and they claimed the Best Buy scheduled them so tight that since they forgot to put an installation on this 3rd attempt at re-delivery - they had no time to hook my dryer vent up. They probably could have hooked it up in the time it took them to explain to me how they had no time to do it, but whatever. I'm throwing my hands up and doing it myself at this point - it's not like you can get a refund on free installation. You get what you pay for. This was one of the biggest time and energy wastes I have ever experienced. The appliance manager likes to blame all of their problems on the drivers. It's totally not the drivers. It's Best Buy's inability to interface with these drivers, who are mostly subcontractors during the holiday rush. Wish me luck, I'm about to go hook up a dryer vent. I used to get great service here, but due to ? lack of good management there seems to be a lot of disengaged, uninterested employees. There are still some really good employees but you have to look hard to find them. Hello, I shopped March 5th around 6 pm at the 3100 Lohr Rd. store in Ann Arbor. I bought a wireless router. The last time I shopped here was about 6 months ago when I bought a modem. Prior to that @ 4 years ago I bought my son a computer here for Christmas. I don't like to blast negative comments on Facebook or Yelp or whatever unless I speak to someone first- email unanswered and other people have had no luck with company follow up either. My experience today was from start to finish rather negative, in fact I was really mad when I left the store. I couldn't find anyone to help me and the cashier was rude. I bought this router for $76. I looked on Amazon and could have bought one like it for $54- ( from their returns and warehouse deals). BUT I drove across town, I live in Ypsilanti, to buy one from Best Buy because the last times I bought something here I got good advice and my questions answered. It seems like I'm the exact demographic of a shopper that you would like to keep. I am 63, a woman and not real tech savvy and I am very loyal to brands and stores that I consider to be of value both in merchandise and in service. I will pay a little more for someone to help me. That being said. I had to find the department, walk around until I found 3 employees lounging against a pole, one eating a candy bar then wait until they finished talking so I could ask them. " Could one of you sell me a router?" Once I had walked the guy over he was helpful and answered my questions, pretty much he told me which router to buy. Then the cashier. Two lanes were lit up but only one person was working. I walked over to the empty one and the cashier came over from where he'd been standing and was apparently annoyed that I had disturbed him, because he wouldn't look at me. He just seemed to not enjoy his job. The point is why would I not shop online? What happened to the morale? Could I have bought a service contract with the router? Remember the days when you could have your choice of consumer electronics stores, record/CD stores, video stores? Remember how Best Buy swallowed all of them up? If you haven't noticed by now, this wasn't for the best. This seems to be one of the Best Buy stores that time forgot. It's overstuffed and it's not always the brightest or the cleanest. Even the store on Ford Road in Dearborn seems to have gotten better corporate treatment. We stopped in yesterday to pick up a portable DVD player, which of course wasn't in stock. Find an associate to ask if there may be any in the back room. How dare I try that. I don't know how many times I've visited this Best Buy and found them to be out of an advertised item. I have been going to this location and everyone is very friendly. My visit yesterday was exceptional. My husband and I was looking for a dishwasher and Jerome attended to us. He was very friendly, courteous and most importantly, very knowledgeable. He answered all our questions and inquiries without being pushy just to sell.
