Lots of negative reviews here, and my own history with them has been somewhat dicey over the years. Had I written the review a few weeks ago, my rating might have been 3 stars, and potentially even lower. But my most recent encounter elevated my opinion of them a bit. To some extent, any consumer buying experience is a matter of chance, or luck. Maybe you get a good, helpful salesperson one time, and the next time you encounter the exact opposite. But if you go to a place more than once, it's possible to discern a trend. Back in the day, when I worked in nearby Piscataway, I occasionally came to this shopping center on my lunch hour in order to browse in the late, lamented Border's Book Store. I bought shoes, once, at DSW. And, very occasionally, I've patronized Best Buy. It has always seemed very busy, but at least parking spots are plentiful. My 1st memory of it, long ago, is when my old friend talked me into getting a flip-phone. They were already on their way out, but...as I've mentioned in other reviews...I'm nothing if not resistant to change (while recognizing the truth of Eastern philosophy that nothing is permanent). With his assistance, I came to Best Buy to purchase one and set it up, and it went smoothly. (At one point, a little later on, I was on the verge of getting rid of it, until Hurricane Sandy occurred, and explicitly demonstrated the utility of having such a device-- it proved to be my only means of communication with my elderly parents, who were still alive at the time, and my birth mother,) When I finally bought a DVD player, I bought it here. Years later, I talked with a technically adept co-worker about my wistful desire to have some of my prized (and deteriorating) VCR tapes transferred to DVD. He mentioned a machine that I could purchase at Best Buy that would actually accomplish this. Enthused, I went to Best Buy and was blithely told by the seemingly knowledgeable salesperson that...yes...such a machine existed. I paid for what he took down from the shelf, brought it home, and realized I had been sold something completely different. Enraged, I stormed back, approached a manager, and that machine was exchanged for the one I had intended to buy. It wasn't a pleasant experience, obviously, but it was resolved satisfactorily. Back home, I soon became aware that I had no idea on how to operate it. I'm pretty much of a dope when it comes to all things technical (some other things too), and I figured an investment in having "the Geek Squad" come out to my crib to assist would be a wise one. I called and made the appointment. At the last minute, it fell through. I called again, set up another appointment, and that one fell through as well. Frustrated, I was at the point of giving up, but the 3rd attempt worked. They came out, patiently explained the process of how to set up and connect the machine to the TV, the logistics of transferring VCR to DVD (while I laboriously wrote everything down in a notebook), and left. Thankfully, I was able to transfer the most important of my VCR tapes to DVD (and also did the task for a few other people I knew). My old friend came to Best Buy a lot, and when I accompanied him, I'd look around the CD/DVD section of the store (that section seems to be gone now). My most recent experience? I went to turn on my TV, and it didn't. The red light at the bottom indicated it was still operative, but it wasn't turning on. I panicked (recalling the lyrics to Black Flag's "TV Party" as I went into melt-down mode) and called Optimum Help Desk. After a re-boot of the cable box didn't rectify the situation, the rep told me to get the original remote control that came with the TV (I always use the one I got from Optimum). Luckily, I found it, but that wasn't working either. I figured the batteries were dead and struggled to open the back compartment. It didn't open, even after I broke several fingernails. Feeling ridiculous (has old age really brought me to such a state as this?) and in a near frenzy, I brought the remote to Best Buy. I couldn't think of any other options. I approached the young gentleman in the TV department, explained my dilemma, and he took the remote and struggled to open the back compartment. Saying, "It's broken," he continued the struggle, and finally succeeded in opening it. I put in new batteries that I had brought with me, and he suggested I put tape on the back and not try to re-attach the broken compartment lid. Feeling sheepish, I asked if I could pay him something. Generously, he said, "No. Just mention my good deed to people you know." I said I would, and now I have. Thanks again. (What about the TV, you ask? The original remote still didn't work, even with the new batteries, and I called Optimum again in despair. Thankfully, I got a different rep, who told me to pull the TV plug from out of its wall socket, wait 10 seconds, and then put it back in. I did and...voila!...my TV was back in action. We enquired for a TV and the guy helped measure the car size to see if the TV fits in perfect . Customer service is ok. Easy to pick up .. order online and pick up at store .. pick up takes time sometime . Either the associate is not there or a bit slow . Lots of offers in this store . I signed up for Geek Support Support for the second time last June 24, 2025. I have been a customer of theirs and bought my stove and dishwasher from Best Buy. It was then that I was told that signing up for Geek Squad was something I should consider as any problems whatsoever would be resolved by Best Buy. I hardly used their services as I had no problems to speak of but I liked the security of knowing they help if I needed them and I was never charged for installation of the products I bought. I bought additional products and again I signed up for Geek Sq. Support. This month I bought and Epson ET 2980 printer. The price was fair and I also bought a 4 year service contract. It was delivered and I called Best Buy to get them to come and install it. I was told that they could help me install it remotely or I could bring it there to be done. Remotely was out of the question. I am not technically oriented at all and this was not something I would agree to. Carrying it there? I'm in my 70's and the thought of dropping it or having it damaged while transporting it were another problem for me. I wanted in-home service. It was then I was told this would cost me $124.99. What happened to they would take care of all my problems? Getting it installed IS a problem. Being all thumbs IS a problem. Selling a million dollar publishing system to a Fortune 500 firm is NOT a problem for me. It was how I made my living in sales. BUT THIS SITUATION IS A PROBLEM! I asked to speak to a manager or superviser and was told that being it was Saturday they could find no one to speak to me. I get that it's Memorial Day weekend so I didn't push it but still was told if I called after the weekend the answer would be the same. So $179.99 for Geek Squad "TOTAL MEMBERSHIP" plus $245.23 for the printer, $53.30 for service contract and if I was not happy I could return it but there would be a $40.00 restocking fee. I see the Geek Squad trucks all the time. They can make a 20-30 minute stop. This, in retrospect, was not a BEST BUY. $125.00 to install a printer is absurd. If I can't get them to do this I will send it back and buy elsewhere. And if there's a restocking fee we'll be seeing each other in small claims court. read more

There was a problem transferring lots of data from old to new computer. I had to bring new computer back a 2nd time, but Lily G from the Geek Squad was excellent! She was relentless in figuring out the problem. I so appreciated her patience and kindness in explaining the issues, but more importantly her expertise to fix the problem. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I walked into this Best Buy at about 6:30pm and walked out at 6:55. I spent 25 minutes waiting for someone to help me. I even asked Lewis the "manager" if she someone was available to answer some questions about a gimbal and he told me I would need to wait because there was only 2 people working at the moment.... Mind you there were no more than 10 customers in the store and not all were being helped. Needless to say NO one came to help and I left. Lewis watched me leave and didn't even offer an apology. I bought a Samsung refrigerator from Best Buy in August 2020. By November 2020, the refrigerator had completely stopped working. I lost $1000 worth of organic food, as it was the largest refrigerator model that Samsung made, and I stocked up when I could get a home delivery order, since this was during the lockdown. Best Buy replaced the refrigerator, but I filed a complaint with the BBB regarding the lost food. In the end, I was reimbursed for half of the cost of the food that I lost as a result of the lemon appliance that I received, despite producing receipts. Fast forward 5 years, the replacement refrigerator was also a lemon. The ice maker has broken down AT least 4 times (lost count). Best Buy played games in scheduling appointments and being no-shows several times when they had to repair the ice maker. The extended warranty is expiring this month, and given that one of the repair people indicated that this keeps breaking down because it is a design flaw, I reached out directly to Best Buy, who told me that an appliance can be completely replaced it has broken down 3 times or more BUT then proceeded to tell me that the ice maker was excluded from this clause. I filed a complaint with the BBB. They were absolutely useless. They sent my complaint to Best Buy. Best Buy said as far as they are concerned, the matter is closed, as I have a 90-day warranty on the current work that they did. So now, the next time the ice maker breaks after the 90 day period, I will be stuck with the bill, EVEN THOUGH this is a known design flaw. How is this fair? If a car has a defect, there is a recall and the problem is definitively fixed. Here, the problem is fixed with a new piece that is guaranteed to stop working just like the old piece. Imagine installing a NEW DEFECTIVE piece in a recalled vehicle. That is what Best Buy has done (except that they never had the decency to recall this lemon) and now they want me to pay for it going forward. Totally unacceptable. read more

Worst consumer experience of my life. Purchased a television and television console and paid for it to be installed. I figured the installation date was when the piece of furniture would arrive with them or at least delivered. The piece of furniture was delivered outside my garage a week prior to the installation date and Wade well over 100 5200 pounds. I could not move it myself. I had to pull it into my garage because it was going to rain and when and doing so saw that the furniture itself was broken. I have been on the phone for the past three days over 12 times with Best Buy customer service the store itself to coordinate having this monstrous box of furniture taken back. They were wrong and initially said it was FedEx when I called FedEx said FedEx said you need to have them ship you a return label as I was on the phone with FedEx UPS showed up at my doorstep. I was not home but I was able to speak to them through my ring doorbell. I called Best Buy back to say it's not FedEx it's UPS called UPS with a tracking number that Best Buy gave to me and UPS said oh you have to be home called Best Buy to say please make it where I don't have to be home and, I was disconnected. The customer service is horrific stay away from this location and I would say all Best Buy purchases and especially if they include any installation or delivery it is the worst consumer experience of my life. read more

I drove about 45 minutes to this location because I had a curbside pickup. I got a really great deal on their website with an open-box item. It was an absolute steal. I was particularly impressed with the wait time. As soon as I drove into the area, there was a rep there waiting to scan my receipt. She was very quick and efficient. I placed an order for a computer pick up the same day in an hour, they never contacted us until the next day saying oops we don't have the product. They take people for suckers because they actually want to mail you the product but they show online having the product for same day pickup. My wife went to pick the computer 7 hours later and was given a bs excuse like there is only one key for the storage room and we don't have the key.. Why they didn't tell her they don't have the product?, she went to another BestBuy store in Iselin NJ and they had everything good customer service purchase the computer in less than 10 minutes. Walked in to look at replacing the stereo equipment in my car, headunit, sub, amp, the works probably with install if it made sense. Waited and browsed the headunits for 10 minutes, finally caught two employees walking by with a cart. Had to interrupt them to get their attention and asked for help. Waited another ten minutes... still no help. At this point I googled and did my own research and bought a less expensive unit than I planned on walking in. This is why brick and mortar stores are dying. Will NOT be back unless I need to return the item. Walking out I counted 9 employees that were very good at looking busy, even saw a gaggle of 4 employees by the TVs hanging out. Very very disappointed. Best Buy used to be the spot for car Electronics and I trusted them. I'm better off getting the headunit installed at a local business. Shop on Amazon. Save yourself the drive. read more

I should have read the many reviews that are posted regarding delivery and installation. Purchased a refrigerator from a very good sales guy. Delivery was scheduled between 12:30- 4:30 and communicated effectively. It should be noted that the delivery company is a third party contractor. They arrived a s scheduled. Delivery guy comes in and pulls old refrigerator out and in very hard to understand English, proclaims that I do not have a shut off valve behind the refrigerator so he states he can not install!! There is a shut off valve in the basement, but I guess that was not up to the specifications of the installer. He departs with the new refrigerator and then I receive a call from Best Buy Customer Support that I need to re-schedule...which implies that I need to have a shut off valve installed.....well, The next day I go directly to the Best Buy store and cancel the order....may want to consider placing delivery and installation with Best Buy employees!!!!! read more

First of all I hate to write a bad review to anyone specially when there were associates trying to help as the samsung associate try to do so at that time. Besides that, The review that i made in bestbuy web site were not posted at all. But anyway, I came to the store to buy a new phone because my old one started to go out and needed a new urgently. We were also traveling in 2 days out of the country. At first I didnt mind the lack of knowledge that employees had and I understood that they were very busy while I waited patiently for a long time. Nevertheless, for not taking me seriously overall as a customer bothers me the most. At the verizon/At&t/tmobile/etc front desk, I asked a person to help me get a new phone. Of course I needed to ask questions because I wanted the best price and quality for my money. Unfortunately, When I was about to purchase the phone , there were some issues in purchasing it because I wasnt an account holder. I figure its fine, Ill make a couple of calls to get authorization and use my name as an account holder. Unfotunately, that associate disappeared and never came back which I guess he didnt want to help me to resolved my issues. So I had to find another person to help me and go through that process explaining. To make the story short, I had my wife on the phone who is the authorized account holder,and a verizon associate on the 3 way calls which he, later on assigned me as the account holder in their system. But still I couldnt buy the phone because it takes 24 hours to update the system in bestbuy!! In the mean time this was going on, a 3rd associate who supposedly helping me was making short remarks, comments sarcastically which I didnt pay attention to at first just to keep everything calm so things would not go out of porportion. Nevertheless at the end, i still couldnt buy my phone even speaking to a floor manager. Even I am willing to fully pay the phone now just to hold it for me so I can secure my purchases because thats the only one left in bestbuy around my area. Without arguing I just left and i figured I will bring my wife later after she gets off from work and buy the phone. Now coming back for the second time, with my wife i figured things should go smooothly. But it didnt happen. The third person who was helping me earlier was there at the counter . So we came to him. But again, while processing my purchases he would make comments which started to aggravate me. But last thing that really bothered me was when he asked me the 5th times if i am going to finance my purchases. This happens 3 times in the morning while he was making comments, which i mentioned him it will be fully paid through my bank card. And then two more times that evening. Then When i told him ill buy the insurance from verizon he started telling me the wrong information and told me i could only buy it from bestbuy.., I ve been coming here for years i know i can buy it from verizon and spending a lot of money as a regular customer for best buy, I shouldnt have gone through this hassle. In fact no one should, regardless of how much you are purchasing even it is $5, $20 to 1mil dollars And even if it is through financing or not. In fact, REGARDLESS OF almost anything as long as you are a paying customer That experience should have not happened to anyone. This is a very nice Best Buy! The store is easy to navigate, and has everything every Best Buy has! Computers, Television Sets, video games, movies, and more! I still don't understand why places ell movies, when you can buy a subscription for a movie company at an even cheaper price! Staff seemed friendly, and knowledgable about what they sold! I've had experiences where no one knew what they were doing! It felt, a little bit run down, as it kind of felt like an empty store, as there was too much space, in between everything! Was looking at a laptop and had visited to try it out. Several days later, I visited again and the price went up fifty dollars. I was told that "prices change on Sundays." The price hadn't changed on Amazon, so I asked them about their price match guarantee. Turns out the "model number" was ever so slightly different, though the rep admitted that it was the exact same product and that the model number didn't seem to match between Amazon and Best Buy. Wasted time and gas getting there. Will never bother buying anything from Best Buy again; prices don't "randomly" fluctuate, especially for a several year old laptop, and their price match guarantee is nothing but an empty promise. Just order whatever you want via Amazon, or anywhere else for that matter. Not worth dealing with the noisy store and obnoxious associates. read more

i had ordered a fridge and waited for delivery. and today was supposed to have, deliver came and dropped a wrong product, 5 minutes later the shipping person came back to pick it up the products and i had asked about my fridge and they responded that is not their problem and i have to call the store to schedule another day for delivery. when i call the store they said that is the wrong number and gave me another number to call i did call the number that they said to call and asked for my product they said that is not their problem and so on now i don't know where to call to know what happened with my fridge and i have to pay the plumber for the day because he came to install the stove and fridge and pay another day for install the fridge because best buy is not a good company to trust i do not recommend this store for it read more

I should have went with AMAZON. Customer Service by Asst. Store manager was TERRIBLE. Received $200 bestbuy gift certificates (4x$50) * About 7pm I tried to place my order of gopro8 and accessories online, but the online system wouldn't accept my eGift. Since I wanted to get the product before my trip I went to the store figuring that customer service would help me apply the eGift cards. After receiving email that my order was ready for pickup I went to Best Buy in Bridgewater The sweet sales clerk politely told me that she couldn't help since it was a completed order and she pointed out the in store Customer Service and I walked over. Joslyn at the customer service desk looked at my order and said that the only way to apply the eGifts was to cancel the order and replace it. It made sense to me. She was great. She told me that I would have to CALL Best Buy customer service, I asked if I could use the phone at the counter since I was right there. § First I spoke to Manuel, game him all my information, but he was not able to assist and he had to transfer me to the eGift department. § Ben in eGift confirmed that the orig order was backed out but he would have to transfer me to Sales to place my new order with the eGift cards. At this point my patience ran out (about 8:15) and I said that I wanted to be connected to a supervisor to stop all the handoffs. He agreed and said that I would be placed on a silent hold until supervisor was done with current customer. § After a 15 minute wait, Tara came on the phone and she was quickly able to process my eGift cards and place my order. At 8:07PM I received email from BB indicating that my order was received (after I paid $227.17 on my visa and $200 with eGift. § Tara indicated that I had to wait further email before I can leave with the products that were in my hand, and for which I PAID. § At that point Joslyn came back (she was helping other customers) and said that I couldn't take products because she refunded the money from the original purchase, I explained that BB on the phone placed the new order for me and I showed her the email. § Nearing the 9:00PM I asked Joslyn to get a manager, who I felt could surely get me on my way. § The assistant manager Jaba, said I'd have to come back tomorrow since I missed the "8:30 inventory deadline". Now its about 8:45, and in my frustration I told him that it was insane that I had to come back AGAIN to the store to pick up the products that were in my hand, and that I paid for. He said, that's the way it is and you have to come back, its closing time. I dropped the accessory box that I was holding, and again said its insane that I have to go home, and back another day to pick THIS product which I paid for and was holding! § Jaba threatened that he will call the police because he won't deal with belligerent customers, and I told him to go had and call them but i'd rather he get a manager that can HELP ME. Three Bridgewater Police came and were rightly annoyed for wasting their time. ( I any Bestbuy quality/legal/customer service has any doubts they can watch store video which the must have) § At this point, I'm very tired and my mouth was parched so I told him I would pay AGAIN but I'm not leaving without the products. As I was paying the police came. Had to explain the whole scenario again. went home and called customer service. Had a problem with a TCL Tv. Was not able to get it back within the typical return period because of all that's going on. After explaining, the general manager told us he'd exchange it no problem, set us up with a great sales rep (Beltchin) who really knew what he was talking about. Brought us through all the TVs and I settled on one I think I'll be happy with. Ahmed was great too. Very good experience! read more

The worst customer service ever! Purchased a dishwasher at the store, after waiting for an eternity to get service, and scheduled delivery with install. The day of scheduled delivery nobody showed up. When called they stated that the delivery was attempted at the wrong location and they tried to call a phone number that's from ten years ago. Provide them updated phone number and they assured me it was now in the system as the only point of contact for the account. Rescheduled delivery for following week. On day of rescheduled delivery get email with estimated delivery time between 7AM and 7 PM. At 6PM I call to see if there is any update on the delivery. Now it gets really bad.... The woman I get from the company customer service line is clearly not a US based employee. The accent is so bad that it is nearly impossible to understand what she is saying. I am then informed that the dishwasher has been damaged. At this point I ask to be transferred to a supervisor and she informs me that as the call center is closed and her entire team is working remotely that it may take a long time to get a supervisor on the line. I then asked if it would be possible to speak to a more local representative of the company. She then dropped the call. I call the number provided again and get another clearly non US based CSR. This one is not only difficult to understand but also smug and obtuse. I again requested a supervisor and was told that she wouldn't escalate until I let her try to resolve the situation. Third and fourth calls were very similar. Fifth try got a US based csr and cancelled the order entirely. This review is for store manager Joseph Slocum. I ordered and picked up a TV and when I got home, I opened the box and attempted to lift it out - it made a crunching sound. When I lifted the cover and took a look of it, the side and screen was broken - did not take out of the box. I went back (same day - couple of hours after pick-up) to return/exchange it. After explaining to them and asked for an exchange, this guy Joseph made up so many scenarios of what could have happened and ACCUSING me for damaging the TV. He is so rude and arrogant and abusive - he gave me a very bad experience and hard time. He refused to take the TV back. I have been a customer of Best buy for so many years, but this will be the last time I'm setting foot with any of their store. BEWARE OF THIS STORE - THEY TRIED TO SELL ME A BROKEN TV!!! read more

Guys this is why you can just get things directly from manufacturers now, either that or use Amazon. Best Buy - Bridgewater - Christmas shopping Not worth it. No huge money saving sales - Electronics Near Me - Bridgewater, New Jersey

This story ends up a happy ending but I came onto yelp to express other feelings towards this companies policy and customer service. My husband and I bought a tv here a month ago and we just moved into our apartment yesterday. We had no idea about the 15 day return policy and oh the 3 day " cracked screen" policy. I urge whoever buys a tv from best buy.. Make them remove it from the box before you leave. We opened our tv up excited to be in our new place and there was a huge crack side to side on this tv. It looked like someone jumped up and down on this thing. We did not even hesitate to put it back in the box and drive to this location. We called before we arrived and was on hold for about 25 minutes, mind you when we walked in.. There was about 20 employees sitting around in front.. Wasted payroll if you ask me. We get up to the line and the associate claims theres a " 3 day policy for cracks" and nothing within their return policy claims you cannot exchange after the 15 days. It only states " you can get a full refund within 15 days of purchase" My husband and I got very angry after spending over 1,000.00 on a television and this kid is telling us sorry cant do anything about it. I asked for the manager.. Who was very nice. But it took about 15 minutes for him to come up to the front. He said he needed to thoroughly inspect the tv to make sure we didn't try to wall mount and return it. He let us exchange the television after that's all we wanted in the beginning and the manager made it right but good ridden. Please train your staff that the customer is always right and also tell you district manager to tell corporate to change the statements in your return policy. Where to begin... My wife and I bought a very expensive washer, which took awhile to pull the trigger on. Once we did, they came in and installed it. A week goes by and we got an error code that made the washer inoperable. FYI Im a contractor and tried every avenue possible to fix it it before resulting in calling Best buy or Samsung. I also paid for plumbers to try to resolve the issues within the error code and service it as well. I first called best buy and waited on hold and transferred about 7 times which ended up in getting hung up on. The next day, I decided to call Samsung to run a diagnostic on it and see if it can be fixed. We did and they couldn't fix it and told me Best Buy should exchange it. I called 4 times once I knew that, I got hung up on, re-routed several different times. Once I finally got ahold of someone they set me up for a exchange two weeks out. The representative came and said he was told it needed to be installed. All he could do was install a washer. At this point I was beyond pissed. I waited 2 more weeks for a delivery and it didn't show up. I had to call again and wait another week for it to come. 4 days of work missed. $240.00 . spent on laundry service. and 1 and half months later on the phone trying to talk to someone who actually will help and exemplify compassion for my experience. worst Best Buy I've ever been to in my entire life. Waited 2 hours for service, and then waited another 3 hours for a simple new phone purchase. Then, they had to call Verizon to figure out what was wrong w my Verizon account and THE LINE CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CALL. Then, after 5.5 hours, I left. Phoneless, sad, and annoyed. Such a shame , salesman was great he new what he was talking about or at least i think so . Spent over 2000.00 and he said he booked the delivery . Well im home and no delivery , got a email saying i had to schedule one , when at the store we confirmed delivery . And have been on hold for 27 minutes as we speak to talk to someone. Come on like nobody is there and they are that busy on a friday a 2 oclock. I even called the delivery number and after doing all the prompts they hung up 2 times as well . GRRRRR read more

Yes, they have the products that you'll be looking for, but this particular Best Buy has terrible customer service. Mobile phones is becoming a much larger thing for people, so I don't understand why they don't dedicate more of the store to activating phones. Standing in line for three hours to get a phone activated only to be told that they were no longer doing activations that night because they were too near closing time? I give the store two stars because if you really know what you want and it is available sealed in a factory box with a factory warrantee then it is nice to make a run out to get something quick. (Like when you lose your Withings Pulse and you feel naked without it and the two day wait to get it shipped to you is going to cause sleepless nights) Anyway... on the other side of things... going there one evening and seeing four cop cars parked in front was interesting.
