If you're going to buy from Verbatim NEVER CHOOSE DVD-R over DVD+R!!
I had the lack of inspiration to buy 2 spindles at the same time, from BestBuy, around June 13 - June 15 (- supposedly shipped on that latter date -), 2015. BestBuy also told me that those spindles were shipped directly from the manufacturer's location, and that was why they were taking longer to arrive.
Little did I know back then that the delay in arrival would be the least of my problems.
After getting the package, I tried the first spindle, and it was reasonably okay. The DVD-Rs in that one were far from the best quality (way in the past) of the Verbatim DVD+Rs I had previously used, but they have thus far been usable. THAT IS THE BEST QUALIFICATION - USABLE - I CAN GIVE OF THE FIRST SPINDLE.
There are blemishes on some of the discs, like small opaque dots and even small scratches. (But a small scratch makes a hell of a lot more difference on a DVDR than it does on a commercial DVD, as DVDRs to be burnt are much more inferior in quality, and sensitive, when compared to the pressed discs.) Also, about half of the discs, the ones at the top of the spindle, all have almost like an imprint of of like the edge of a blade having been forced on their top surface. I don't know why, but it looked almost like a wrinkle. (Not sure, though, if this impacts a DVDR burn in any way, because it is not an absolute indication of a defective disc. But it is, regardless, a noticeable imperfection.)
And the spindles themselves do not close properly, either of them, unless pushed upon strongly. It is my firm belief that the Verbatim corporation built the spindle cases to a defective specification, defective height especially, which maybe affected their discs inside said cases negatively.
Now, THE BIG PROBLEM: THE SECOND SPINDLE - ABOUT HALF OF THE DISCS WERE BAD. From burning with severe glitches (which can be seen upon playback/use of burnt disc) to burn failures to not allowing the DVD burner to read the disc at all (- by that I mean burn process would not start, burner would keep flashing continuously, without ever stopping, such that a computer restart would be required to be able to eject the disc -) THE SECOND SPINDLE WAS CHOCK FULL OF BAD, SUBSTANDARD DISCS.
Blemishes, scratches and wrinkles also present in this spindle.
Boy, Verbatim corporation really lost a lot of its professionalism.
I use DVDR discs a lot, and I mean a whole lot, so I know what I'm saying. I am not a first-time user, no, sir.
And, after the way BestBuy treated me, refusing to stand behind its (defective) sale, telling me to go after Verbatim now, and basically informing me that the best that will ever be done for me is Verbatim shipping me more of these crappy discs:
Not Only Will I NEVER BUY VERBATIM Discs In The Future, I Will Never Shop At BestBuy, Ever Again!
P.S. I got a BestBuy invitation to review this item. I tried to review it on August 4, when I knew I would need to ask for my money back. But, of course, I was denied that chance. Why? Because their warranty - one month - had passed, so they would no longer allow me to review the Verbatim product on their site. Sneaky crooks!
