OK, so it's 10:22 AM on a Thursday. I walk into Best Buy to turn in an old computer just to give to them for disposal or parts or whatever they wanna do with it. There's nobody behind the Geek Squad counter. Meanwhile, how about 20 feet away from the counter or four or five geek squad members I'll stand around talking and chuckling to themselves. In front of me is a man who has been standing in a line for 10 minutes waiting on somebody to service him. After about five minutes, I just gave up and put my computer and power cord on the table and said to myself let them deal with this. It's very clear that the four geek squad members were aware that there were two people online and it was very clear. There's nobody behind the counter. How hard is it to communicate and say somebody will be with you right shortly or give us some heads up as to what is going on, and why there's nobody behind the counter. The service is very hit or miss; most workers look like they are ready to leave and you can see it in the service they lack. I've only visited this location twice for quick & easy purchases. My 1st purchase was a laptop, which I had already did research on prior to visiting this store. Walked in & waited to speak to someone in the computer area. Ironically they made themselves very busy even if they weren't with a customer & I say that being sarcastic. I watched 2-3 employees look at me waiting by the laptops & quickly turn around to find something else to do rather than help me. I figured everyone wanted to make sales but I guess not. Anyhow, I finally was able to get a guy to help me although he was helping someone else he went out his way to find the laptop I wanted (it wasn't out on display). He helped us both in a timely manner & I was on my way. 2nd visit was the Saturday after Black Friday, walked straight in & was greeted per usual. The year is 2014. Every now and again, I shop Best Buy to pick up some music, a PS3 game, or browse electronic items in their sale flyer. This day, I attempted to exchange a set of expensive (but defective) headphones, received as a Christmas gift. I was directed to grab a new set off the shelf--to the service counter--asked for purchaser's info (they bought online from bestbuy.com, as their computer records reflected). That's when things got weird: despite the "lifetime warranty" printed on the box; despite the fact that the headphones were purchased at BB (and located in the system)-- it was announced to me that they have a 15 day "return/ exchange" policy. "What about for exchanging a defective unit?" "Sorry, sir, no exceptions." Asked for the store manager: he explained it to me, as though I were a kindergartner. Unless "purchase protection" is added; unless i wanted to pay to be a "Geek Zone member," there was nothing else that they'd be doing for me this day. I know that Amazon beats BB on price every day. It's a click away. I can almost always wait 7 days for my electronics/ game purchases (free shipping). Purchased 85" TV, stand, sound bar etc.., 1600 worth of merchandise. delivery was canceled dId tv stand wouldn't work I'd need to go to the store to reschedule. went to the store Sterling & store manager helped to resolve the issue tried reschedule for the 23rd & 24th I advised Sterling I wasnt waiting 7-7 both days so he said it's scheduled for the 24th. I received an email it was scheduled for the 23rd & 24th. contacted an 250# was advised it was scheduled for 23rd &24 he rescheduled for the 31st. I filed. compliant I've never heard anything. returned to the store same manager acted like it was all the geek squads fault she was the one assisting Sterling. she called Sterling up he said it was a computer problem he took my name & number was going to try & get it scheduled on the 24th or before the 31st. Ive never receIved a call back I have also received a statement for something I dont have. Sterling & the manager think it was Rachel was only concerned about getting me out of the store and said whatever I wanted to hear. tv & stand we're all in stock at the store. it will be almost a month dealing with this issue. Update: this place is great! The employees are all super welcoming and really know their stuff. They helped us pick out a great, reliable modem. When we got home and looked the item up online, it got great reviews. Amazon had it listed for a couple dollars cheaper, but Best Buy price matches! (My husband doesn't buy anything from Amazon. He doesn't support them because they treat their employees badly--horror stories of employees lasting less then a year & crying at work. I'm not sure how much y'all look at these, but I needed a new computer charger. I went there two days ago and a nice guy helped me but sold me the wrong charger twice. First time was because it wasn't getting enough power for the charger, second time didn't fit the charging port. When I went in yesterday to exchange for a new one, there was a girl in the front, I think her name was Sam or Samantha. She was so sweet! I asked her if I can show her the computer I own since it's also one on display, and she took me right over to the computer and then right over to the charger and it was the correct one! If you are thinking of buying car audio from Best Buy and having Geek Squad install it, DON'T. I purchased a Kenwood unit online at Best Buy for the X5 in July, and had it installed July 23rd. Tech said everything is working great. Well it wasn't. The AM side was nothing but static, and FM was weak, unless you were close to a station. I called (next day) the Best Buy Tulsa Hills store about the problem. After a horrendous time getting through the phone system, I was rescheduled with the tech on 8/25. I showed up to find out that he was having ac/refrigerator problems and was not there. Rescheduled for the 27th and showed up to find out he was ill. The store was told that I was leaving on a long road trip and would get back with them when I return. No problem, the Geek Squad Mgr. said. Well, I'm back. Called twice this morning (same phone issues as before), and finally drove to the store (10 miles), hoping for a resolution to this ongoing issue. After talking to a Geek Squad menion, who said the next available opening for the tech to check the unit was mud-September. At that point, I lost it. Told him that was unacceptable and that I wanted a refund. He went back to the mgr, who said that it would only be a partial refund, since we were outside the 15 day return policy. REALLY! How could I return it if I am out of town. So, right now I am out over $200, and radio that does not work as advertised. Do yourself favor and buy your audio stuff elsewhere and not at Best Buy. I let the phone ring for 20 minutes, 12 minutes and more just to reschedule an appointment. Couldn't do it online so I called the 877 number and waited 35 minutes on hold. One time I did her a person at the store who passed a message to the Geek Squad who said they were too busy but would call me back. 48 hours later, no call. I give up! I have been a best buy Elite plus member for a few years now and I have bought about 366 items and a retired Police officer and disabled and this is the treatment I get Wow. From best buy plus always bought protection plans on everything like front loaders washer and dryer refrigerator dishwasher computers and other items. I have bought a rexing gps logger for my rexing dash cam. The GPS logger won't stay connected to the dash cam. So I went to get a replacement gps logger, now mind you protection plan replacement plan. Best Buy just cancelled my credit card because I have a zero balance. I have bought several things from them in the past 5 years and paid off the items. The stove I purchased from them had some kind of mice looking varments inside that were impossible to get to. The lady I spoke to said they had had some problems with things coming from overseas. I asked for a replacement which I got and it had the same things in it. When I called and reported it I was told my credit report would take a hit if I asked for another replacement!!!! I sent this to Best Buy, I will give report on here if I get a positive or negative response. (please pardon the typo's or structure alignment.) I am contacting you as a last measure before going up the ladder sad to say Sir, but I have done all I could do to be treated as a valued customer. Since you are not aware of the situation, I will start by saying since last year I have had nothing but problems from the midtown store and them honoring the warranty policy, and the geek squad crew back in the garage being rude and non-responsive to my needs, nor the female (blonde heavy set) manager helping me other than telling me to head the the mid-town best buy store. (I have asked for the main store manager who is over the whole store and their assist managers, and they always tell me, the store manager is not in.) I have spent over 900.00 + labor on a pioneer touch screen system and speakers with the works that goes with it including the camera system that goes with it. I have had nothing but problems with it, including when it starts raining, the system starts cutting out, and have had problems with the rear camera when backing up. Its been months now and all of the staff at the mid-town store could say is, we can't find it, then telling me to come back to the store when it's cutting out. I went to the store a day after we had the big rain, and it was still cutting out, the staff said, there is nothing wrong with it, and wrong settings when I asked them before to set it up as their own, the staff member changed all the settings to its lowest to where it sounded like crap, and he was the one who set it up the second time. That is when I called the MOD since they said the main manager was not there, I was still on property in my parking spot, and she said to go to the mid-town store and let the handle the problem, so I did. I spoke with your lead person who works the installation back in the garage, and he took my information and told me he would call me when there was a spot open to have my unit fixed. Its been two weeks now. The other problem I had with the mid-town store garage was, I asked for the extra pair of speakers to be put in the back, and he said no, it was not needed, just use the stock speakers as bass speakers. And when I bought the product, the system said it was XM/Sirrus ready, and it was not. I asked about it, and I told him I wanted the module to make it ready, he came back saying it would be an extra two to three hundred dollars to put in. And now my unit will not work at all. Needless to say, I am pissst off respectfully saying so. I need this problem fixed asap please! Will you be able to help me on this matter? I believe I will be reporting the mid-town store and its management to the regional manager or even the vice-president, as an once elite member I once was, not now how I have been treated people on my face book and whom ever I can contact to let them know to not go to the mid-town store. They should not even be working there to represent Best Buy logo. Heck I even applied there twice, and the manager would not even speak to me. I am a computer technician and I can do the sales on the floor, he just said on the phone to go online.
