Very frustrating experience with Best Buy. I made a two-hour round trip after checking online and seeing that they were open, and I also called ahead and was told they were open. I installed the speakers myself, but the employees gave me the wrong wiring adapter and told me it would work. It didn't. I ended up wasting my time because I was given the wrong part based on information from their employees. I was so frustrated that I threw the wiring adapter away. I still have my receipt, and at this point I just want a refund for the part that I was incorrectly told would work. Making a two-hour round trip, after checking the website and calling ahead, only to be given the wrong part and incorrect information is extremely frustrating. Don't waste your time getting your car starter there. I got one had an appointment scheduled with Ross. He called me day before appointment. Just let me know. I need to order another wire and harness which on their website didn't require .I order parts $l07 that pushed me back two weeks day of the appointment left work early. Drop the car off to them with the parts had my wife drove 60 miles with the two-year-old kid in 15° weather to pick me up 20 minutes into it. They called and told me they can't hook it up manager of the store name, dom and Russ when I spoke to both of them. They were acting like clowns and laughing to my face about it. Just came from the Valpo Best Buy on Silhavy rd. I was there between 2 and 3 pm. I left angry because I drove from Chesterton waiting to be helped and the 3 young men at the service desk (cell phone counter) were busy goofing off. I gave them at least 2 minutes and one guy turned away to avoid me and looked at the other two while his buddies were just surfing the web playing on the computer. No eye contact or a simple I'll be right with you just total avoidance (very rude and poor work ethic). Please don't waste your time buying your cell phone there because they rather play on their screens Than actually work. This is about the Geek Squad. Terrible, terrible workers there. Not only did they mess my computer up but they won't replace the parts that they messed up. I did not get the parts from the store but they cracked one of the prongs of my new RAM and wouldn't give me my computer back since they said I "needed a new power supply" and then blamed it on me when I never opened the new RAM package until i gave it to them. The refused to give me another way to fix it saying along the lines of figure it out yourself. They made me wait hours upon hours just to not fix anything and to blame it on my system and not on their incompetence. Never go there! They don't know a thing about computers. I purchased a Dell Laptop from this store last and it was delivered to my home quickly. There were problems caused by Microsoft 365 which Dell is trying to push on people. Because of 365 the language on my computer switched from English to Spanish to French. Also I had purchased Microsoft Home Office 2024 and the code to install it would not work. in addition Dell adds McAfee to their computers now and I had trouble removing it. A few days ago I went to Best Buy and Billy, Aleks, and Nicole in the Geek Squad department spent a total of 5 hours working on my computer. It's been working good ever since. read more

I recently visited this Best Buy store on 26 February 2023. Greeted by a nice young man at the door, then slowly walked into a ghost town with no support from any of the employees. I patiently waited in the printer section for 20 to 30 mins, yet none of the employees spark an interest in providing me support. After about 45 mins and quick research, I chose my printer and headed for the cashier. I was greeted by another young man, I asked politely if they were having staffing issues. To my surprise he's said no! He goes on to explain to me, "there are only two qualified customer support representatives in the store, they require unique training and no one else is qualified to provide support". Say what? I thought he was making a joke, but sadly he was being serious. Recommendation, the manager so called Z something should be fired. I never been to a Best Buy where you felt lost and that the employees are all getting paid to sit around and talk with each other, let alone ignore the customers. Don't waste your time with this store. Drive to South Bend where you will receive a much more pleasant experience. read more

You know the sale team is not good, when after waiting 30 minutes for help, they try to sell you a 144hz monitor but cant figure out when it wont show more than 60hz and you, as a potential customer, have to show them, how to use their products. I bought a 4k disc player here not too long ago with the warranty and if I have any problems with it to take it in . Well I took the player in for cleaning because al my 4k discs were messing up. At the time I bought it they said the warranty covers it and they would do it. Well I took it in and they did not know nothing about it and did not know or could not do it!! So much for the warranty!! So I got ripped off in paying extra for the warranty. I when the person said I needed to call for appointment even though no one was there. He said they don't do that. TOTAL TECH SUPPORT....WARNING! They (Geek Squad) are nothing but scam artists. They have low level techs who really know nothing about your issues. They'll send a team of 2 and even 2 of them can't figure out 2+2. They give these techs crash courses in the stuff they'll have to deal with the next day and that's all the training they get on your products. Mind you, it's not the technicians fault, they were hired by Geek Squad to be puppets for this huge scam that is designed to take your money and show nothing of support or repair. Not for one incident, this happened for a few incidents. Third time, I had it and done with Geek Squad. There needs to be another company out there that can take their place even at the local level. Dealing with Geek Squad in the store is as mind numbing as it can get. These are not trained technicians, they are paid hourly to "tinker" with someone's account all while distracting the customer by excessive red tape and waiting. Before calling their toll free number: First, find a good PTSD therapist. Set up your therapist appointment before dealing with Geek Squad. You'll need it. Today, I called to see if this particular store had two items. In calling I was directed not to the stores customer service but a general company service number. Upon entering two gentlemen greeted me and asked how they could help. I told them my two items and they found the one just fine but were unfamiliar with the second. I stated that customer service over the phone stated that there were several of these items at this particular store. One of the men walked me to an isle where there was just one of these items (smaller). After walking back to the checkout area I asked...customer service stated that there were many of these products at this store how can there be just one? The man who walked me to the isle...said that this was the only one and acted in away that was off putting...(lady, there's just this one why are you asking this question?). The other guy began to ask further questions once the first guy walked away. This guy then found an area of the store where there were several of the items that I actually wanted. So...if you're told differing information...don't give up...ask again! My fiancé placed an online order for pick up in store. I ran after work to grab it and waited in line at the service counter for 20 minutes where it says store pick up with no one helping me. I saw probably 15 workers walking around doing nothing and not one asked if I needed help. After my 20 minute waiting period the one guy at the service counter asked what I needed. When I told him I was there for a pick up he says to me "oh sorry pick up is actually at the front register". I bought some audio equipment from best buy in valparaiso about a year ago and i have had to take the reciever in twice now the first time they exchanged it and this time they have had it for like 2 weeks. Also the girl at the counter was a snot, she acted like I was unconvincing her with my problems. Then she had me make an appointment to come back when she wasn't doing anything. I spent alot of money there, and I wouldn't do it again. My advice is to go somewhere else that will appreciate your business because best buy does not! This is not necessarily against this store but BEST BUY as a whole. Our washer went down last weekend. Had a choice between Best Buy and Home Depot. Went with Best Buy as they would have it her Wednesday and installed same day where Home Depot would be later. Well they came to install and said they could not get old washer disconnected. After they left my father in law tried it and was able to do it right away. WOW....amazing. How lazy were those installers? We called back and were told they would be her today by 5 pm. No one showed up. Called and they had no clue what was happening. Said washer was in transit. It is in my damn garage waiting to be installed. No installers coming tonight. Unreal. I really wish I would have went with Home Depot now. The service I am getting is awful. They have no idea what is happening and was told the supervisor was in a meeting....really on a Saturday at 5 pm. Bull! I will not buy a thing ever again from Best Buy as they can not deliver on what they promise. Their support lines are TERRIBLE. We did just buy a new Fridge from Home Depot. Was delivered on time and set up perfectly. Had I gone with Home Depot the washer would have been installed yesterday and now have to wait until Monday. read more

Without a doubt, one of my biggest pet peeves at any store is a lack of prioritization of customers. For example, when a line of customers is waiting for help and only one register is open while 3 or more employees are standing around doing literally nothing .... This is not good customer service to me. And this Best Buy store is notoriously awful at paying attention to their customers for some reason. I've also grown very sick and tired of so many employees hovering around me asking if I need assistance. This happens only when I'm around big-ticket items, I must clarify, not if I was checking out the "Bargain Bin" DVD's for example. I do understand Loss Prevention concerns, but their persistence at constantly annoying me is almost intolerable. The DIRECTV personnel trying to sign you up for service while chasing you around the store only adds to the annoyances. This annoying sense of constantly being monitored is not prioritization of customers - it's about protection and growth of assets/revenue. Most retailers don't go out of their way to make this as apparent to people like this store seems to do. Despite the aforementioned, good clearance deals can be had from time to time, and the variety simply can't be beat locally. This is what keeps me coming back to this Best Buy store when I must do so. Honestly, though, I try to stick with online retailers to avoid the hassles, and unless you are in dire need of something, I'd recommend you do the same. read more

I scheduled an appointment on the Apple website for an iPhone battery replacement at this store. The appointment was at 11:20 a.m. on a Saturday. I got a call from the Geek Squad two hours before my scheduled appointment advising that their technician doesn't start work until noon and asking why I think I need a new battery. Umm, because it won't hold a charge. He then asked me to check my battery life percentage and told me it was below what Apple recommends to replace the battery. Mind you, I intended to pay for this myself, but I felt like the associate was trying to talk me out of this service. He then told me I'm welcome to come in, but I'll need to be there at noon. I asked him how long the battery replacement would take, and he said 90 minutes. I have to be at work at 2 p.m., so that is not an option. I asked him why he waited until the day of my appointment to call, and he said he always calls Geek Squad customers the same day. I politely suggested he call them the day before, as that's a standard practice. He told me he didn't work yesterday, and I asked if anyone else was as working and suggested he speak to his manager about changing their policy. He continued to make excuses for their inexcusable customer service. I will be going elsewhere for my battery replacement, and I will not be shopping at Best Buy again. read more

I wanted to purchase a laptop that was a Friday doorbuster. I chatted online twice and photographed the conversation. I was told it would be available at the sale price at 10PM Thanksgiving night both times. I was promised that this was true and correct. So I stayed up and waited till 10 even though I work in the morning and needed my rest. At 10 it was not available so I called their 888 Number. Now I was told that the previous chats were incorrect and that it would not be available at all. I also drove to the Valpo store and was told by an employee that it would be available. I was at the Valparaiso Best Buy on September 21, 2020 returning wireless headphones I purchase using $35 in reward points. As I was attempting to exchange the item for an item at a lesser price $21, the two females working at the service desk stated I would receive only $.67 as a refund. As I was asking why it would be only $.67 and not the $14 difference as a credit or back in rewards points, they continued to say I would only get the $.67. Things did get a little heated as I tried to explain my reasoning at to why I didn't understand by returning an item at a higher cost and receiving an item at a lower cost, why I would not be eligible for the full difference. The two employees did not let me explain my confusion. They did call over another employee who I believed they stated was a manager, but he was dressed in camouflage shorts and did not look or seem professional at all. As he walked over, he also did not let me explain as to why I was confused. As I seen that the exchange was not going to work for me, I then asked if I was to just return the item, would I get my rewards points back, and they answered yes. So I went ahead and returned the item and exited the store. I felt that whole situation could have been avoided had anyone of the three employees just told me my options fully to begin with and I could have made a decision. Overall, it does seem like Best Buy has went downhill over the years even before Covid-19 hit. I am very unhappy with the customer service and will not return to the store. read more
